I've found in the past I prefer shounen over shoujo--especially in manga where the styles are most noticeable. However...overall I really don't mind so long as the plot is good. o_O; Just in general, though, I've seen and enjoyed more shounen in the past than otherwise. XP It just holds my interest more than shoujo, which can get pretty boring and repetitive for me at times. (Though, I suppose the same could easily be said for the other things I've watched.)

I don't like most shojou plots at all, and I'm not that big of a fan on the animation for shojou either.

So, yeah, I'm more of a shounen guy. My favorites would be the littler kid stuff, like Pocket Monsters and Digimon, I adore the animation for those~~ <3

Shounen actually gets screwed over on the plot, a lot. The few Shounen I've seen with good plot were Naruto, Yu Yu Hakusho, Rurouni Kenshin, Cyborg 009, Zeta Gundam, and a bunch of other gundams. I like Shoujo better myself, but that's probably because I like slow moving things more.

Shoujo...-eyes sparkle- So pretty.

But I enjoy some Shounen, too.

...but I sometimes don't pay attention to the plot of either kind, I just watch 'em because I have nothing else to do with my life. I would say its a tie between both, but since I know Shoujo a bit better...if I HAD to vote, that would get my vote! ^.^

That's because most of those shows get carried out and milked to the very last dollar.

If they were kept at a normal number, and didn't go on forever, the plots might be a bit better.

i like them both; i can't choose.
kiba inuzuka is mine. you can't have him. *hugs kiba*

good thing there's not a lot of competition. ^_^

i don't like sakura from naruto. she does nothing the first half of the series, then she comes back from training with tsunade and is ultra powerful. i mean, come on. she beat up an atatsuki person. sakura could not get that powerful in two years. and her obsession with sasuke at the beginning of the series was very irritating. as was inner sakura. and she tied with ino. there is no way they should have tied. the whole inner sakura kicking ino out was unrealistic. and she's the only person in the whole series that doesn't have something special. i could go on and say all the special things people have, but that would take up too much room. but enough of my ranting. the point is, sakura sucks. don't agree? tough.

I would say I prefer Shounen, being as most of the ones I have watched have been just that, but I am more into action Animes rather than romance, but I wouldn't mind watching Shoujo, but personally I prefer Shounen.

I like both, so I can't really choose ;P

Shoujo
It does have really beautiful animation and the characters do look pretty and just well drawn. Like Air, Kanon or Elfen Lied, all of their animations are just so well made and such, but sometimes the plot does tend to get confusing and stuff so it's hard to enjoy the anime and the awesome, well made animation.

Shonen
I love the action and fighting and such, but the animation isn't as beautiful as Shoujo anime. Like Yuugiou, Hikaru no Go or Naruto, the animation isn't as well made, but the plot usually ends up more exciting and easier to figure out.

Basically, I can't choose because I love both the beautiful animation and the awesome, well made plots that persuade you to watch them over and over again =D Plus, Shonen has good looking guys XD

Air, Kanon, and Elfen Lied aren't shoujo anime, possibally the furthest things from a shoujo. Air and Kanon are best classified under "Bishoujo Anime", which would mean pretty girl anime, but not exactly for a girl audience, though anyone can watch. Air and Kanon are also both based off of Hentai games, mainly ment for the male audience. Elfen Lied though is a shounen harem anime in disguise, which means that its about one guy being surrounded by pretty girls, some who become his love intrests. Harem show are also targeted at the male audience, the there are some Shoujo Harem shows like Fruits Basket.

Remember people, Shounen doesn't mean ALL action/adventure... There are plenty of shounen romance anime out there. Anime and manga such as Pita Ten, Love Hina, Ai Yori Aoshi, and Please Teacher are commonly mistaken for shoujo just because they have a cutesy feeling to them or deal with romance, when they are intended for young men.

Shoujo and Shounen can both have equally confusing or simple plots... It just depends on what you watch. ;)

In the end Remember.

Shoujo= Series intended for the girl audience

Shounen= Series intended for the boy audience

Shoujo does not mean, a lot pf girls, just like shounen doesn't mean alot of guys. :)

Oh, okie. I thought Shoujo meant that the story had to do with female characters and Shonen was about male. Guess I was wrong then ^^; Thanks for clearing that up for me ;D

Um... Actually you mean the art is not as cute as in Shounen. To me Shounen artworks are way better than Shoujo ones... Besides, even if Shoujo artworks had better artwork there would no way for me to choose an anime(type of anime anyway) or reject one just for the artworks.
Anyway I also think that Anime like Hikaru no Go (like Shugotenshi no Bakura said) has great artworks. Hikaru no Go actually, has a way to make you just can't even understand that the Character is actually growing up. Now about shoujo... Ok kawaii characters are nice but not as cool as the shounen ones. BTW Elfen Lied is NOT Shoujo it's 100% Seinen.
About Plots, I'm sure that Shoujo may have some good plots... But it's really focused on girl love stories. I can't say off course that they aren't good. For example, Kareshi Kanojo no Jijou (aka Kare Kano aka His and Her Circumstances) that is an Anime from Gainax, can greatly be compared to Neon Genesis Evangelion which is also Gainax's. But in my opininon Shounen plots are even better (and I'm not talking about Naruto, Bleach etc) I'm talking about anime like Hikaru no Go or Evangelion or Lain. These anime has great meanings, characters and plot. I think they have a way to make fight with a more "deep" way.
Anyway I would choose Shounen just for the reasons I described. I can't say the Shoujo is not good as well. That's my opinion anyway.

I would have to say Shounen, I like the plots and the action is great. Shoujo has a lot of hawt girls and the art is wonderful but I prefer shounen, I love Rurouni Kenshin and Fullmetal Alchemist which are shounen but I also enjoy DNAngel which is shojo. In the end shounen gets my vote.

Hard to decide but I'll say Shoujo~

I like the drawing style and the story usually bette. But I'm still a huge fan of many Shonen too

I'd say shounen, I'm more of a tomboy at heart and I like my animation bright colored and simple, plain and not detailed nor frilly. Whatever Pokemon's animation style is, that's my favorite style. My other favorites are stuff like Inuyasha.
Dont get me wrong, I like the style of Tokyo Mew Mew and Sailor Moon but I'm more of a "no frills" type of girl
Besides, why separate them into two catergories? Just make a mix.
Hey, isn't that Pokemon? XD
