Is it just me, or has Firefox become more unstable with the newer versions, even when you do clean installs instead of upgrades? Here's my experience with it.

Up to 1.0.3: Never had problems.
1.0.4: Crashed maybe once.
1.0.5: Never crashed.
1.0.6: Crashed often on both Windows and Linux.
1.0.7: Crashed even more on both OSes.
1.5: Almost unusable. I decided to switch to Konqueror and Mozilla Suite.

Seriously, I love Firefox, and, when needed, I open it up with 1.0.5 under Linux. However, it seems like they've really started dropping the ball recently, putting more towards features rather than stability.

I dunno, maybe it's just me, but it seems like the Moz Org are starting to bow to the pressure of being an extremely popular browser. I still love Firefox, but I won't use the newer versions until it's more stable. Instead, I'll use Moz Suite (I refuse to call it Seamonkey) and Konqueror on Linux, and Moz Suite and IE on Windows.

Anyone else have any experiences or opinions on this? Fell free to rant at me if need be.

I've been noticing this for a while now.

1.5 rarely crashes for me, but what has now become once every few minutes, it freezes for a period of about 15-20 seconds. It's horridly annoying. =\

Also, Firefox seems to be falling further back onto the lazy IE standards. That alone would be plenty of reason for me to uninstall it, but I'm just waiting around, hoping that Mozilla will fix it.

I'm going to be sticking with 1.5 for a while longer, but I'm pretty sure you can roll back to 1.0.3, as I'm sure OldVersion.com has the installer for it. I can't say for sure though, as the site currently appears to be down.

During upgrading to 1.5 I noiced minor problems during the intallation process, mostly that it was slower then the the versions, but other then that I have installed Firefox 1.5 on two systems and they have worked well.

I've been noticing this problem for a while now; just last night my 1.0.7 crashed three times in one hour after only doing it once or twice since it was downloaded. My below-1.0.3 versions never had this problem, but they did have a strange problem of freezing at certain sites, and every time I tried to open Firefox after it froze it would force me to create a new account and erase all of my bookmarks and personal settings. It's never been all that stable for me...sure, more so than Internet Exploder, but when it does it, it tends to do it very frequently, and then not at all for a long time.

Firefox 1.5 is the only one I've used for more than a week.

Anyway, do you means that thing that says:
Firefox is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Firefox process , or restart your system.

If so, I've gotten it twice so far in 2 weeks...

Coolmaster: I thought they fixed that bug. XD You using Windows or Linux?

In Windows, open your dask manager with CTRL+ALT+Delete or by right-clicking the taskbar and selecting Task Manager. Then, find the process called Firefox. Right-click it and select "End Process"

In Linux, open a terminal and type "killall firefox". That will end any running process called firefox.

Meh, I'm on 1.0.7? And well .. it crashes when I have too many tabs loading at the same time. And well it'll crash ONLY if they're all halfway loaded, and I keep clicking each of them like I do all the time.

Meh.. it doesn't matter too much.
are you enjoying the time of eve?

I've noticed that 1.5 has a habit of canceling my downloads before they're finished. Not sure why, but I never had that problem in any previous versions, and if I try to download them using Opera, they download fine.

I really would switch to Opera if it didn't screw up a lot of sites and loaded pages faster... but that part might just be my connection. =/

It crashed on me the other night and I couldn't restart Firefox before restarting my computer. And it wasn't running in the Task Manager either. ><
I don't know what's happened to Firefox. It used to be so awesome, but now the quality just keeps diminishing. =/

In my opinion, they took the M$ way and released it before it was ready, even though they KNEW it wasn't really ready. Basicly, they hype it up, get people to spread the word, and then can't really handle the popularity in the end.

Just my opinion.
