Ok so I'm wanting to come up with a good 2v2 team for sapphire. I've trained a decent amount of pokemon to 100 or 50 but not necessarily with 2v2 battling in mind so these are a few possibilities I can come up with given what I already have:

Latios (lvl. 50)
(hp.155, att.96, def.95, sp.att.161, sp.def.135, spd.125)
Psychic
Earthquake
Recover
Reflect

Latias (lvl. 50)
(hp.157, att.90, def.119, sp.att.117, sp.def.133, spd.128)
Mist Ball
Dragon Breath
Recover
Light Screen

The idea here is to get reflect/light screen out in one turn, have latios do the major damage and latias do annoying damage with paralysis and stat drop.

Chimecho
(hp.288, att.112, def.194, sp.att.228, sp.def.220, spd.172)
Reflect
Light Screen
Heal Bell
Psychic

Rhydon
(hp.330, att.357, def.368, sp.att.116, sp.def.95, spd.112)
Earthquake
Rock Slide
Megahorn
Protect

Chimecho can really pair with anything, not only rhydon, but his levitate lets rhydon Earthquake and his light screen may actually allow rhydon to take a special attack. The Protect on Rhydon is to make sure nobody pulls a surprise water or grass move on him (if necessary) and let Chimecho set up the screen.

I don't have one yet, but am considering a Skarmory spiker (despite the fact that it's so cliche) which I could also possibly pair with Rhydon (lightning rod eliminates the electric threat) or Chimecho. The rest of my pokemon seem to do well on their own but I'm not sure how they would fair in a double battle - for the sake of space I'll list the better ones horizontally and without as much detail:

Starmie - surf, thunderbolt, icebeam, recover; Medicham - brick break, shadow ball, bulk up, recover; Kingdra - surf, ice beam, double team, rest; Metagross - psychic, meteor mash, shadow ball, light screen; Vileplume - sunny day, solarbeam, attract, moonlight; Gorebyss - agility, amnesia, baton pass, surf; Zangoose - slash, brick break, shadow ball, swords dance; Crobat - toxic, confuse ray, double team, attack?; Torkoal - amnesia, curse, rest, body slam; Weezing - sludge bomb, fire blast, explosion, haze; Crawdaunt - surf, body slam, sludge bomb, swords dance; Shedinja - shadow ball, silver wind, confuse ray, protect; Wobbuffet - counter, mirror coat, safeguard, destiny bond.

The Starmie and Medicham have proven to be very decent sweepers; the rest are fairly untested against any real competition.

God, I'm sorry you had to read that. . . but yea, that's most of the pokemon that i've already put effort into training to at least 50 (through Zangoose is at lvl. 100). Any ideas? Oh yea, I would like to enter the Across America Tour so keep those rules in mind if you will (2v2 battle, choose 4, no same poke/items, no two sleep/frozen, only poke limitation that affects me is no Jirachi). Thanks.

Hey, I am back so I guess I will start by helping out in this thread.
Some of the Pokemon you listed are pretty creative and can work, but you are ultimately neglecting some of the more effective combos in 2 vs. 2 like using Explosion, Skill Swap, weather moves, Helping Hand, Intimidate, and Follow Me.
I’ll list a couple of common 2 vs. 2 strategies that you should watch out for, but that you can also use with your own team.

Metagross
- Agility
- Meteor Mash
- Earthquake/Rock Slide
- Explosion

Gengar
-Protect
-Ice Punch
-Thunderbolt
-Explosion

This is one of the most common combos in competitive 2 vs. 2, and it’s not hard to see why. Double Explosion can kill off 4 of the opponent’s Pokemon (which would win you the battle in the Nintendo Tour). It devastates novice players, but experienced 2 vs. 2 battlers will predict Explosions so you’ll have to be careful around them.

Rain Dance Team

Kyogre
-Surf
-Thunder
-Ice Beam
-Calm Mind/Protect

Kingdra
-Hydro Pump
-Ice Beam
-Substitute
-Toxic/Dragonbreath

Ludicolo
-Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Giga Drain
- Fake Out/Protect

Zapdos
- Thunder
- Thunder Wave
- Light Screen
- Drill Peck/Protect

Since Nintendo is letting ubers into this tourney, always watch out for teams based around Rain Dance or Sunny Day. But you can also use this to your advantage since a weather team, when played well, can sweep the opposing team.

Slaking
- Bulk Up/Protect
- Earthquake
- Return
- Shadow Ball/Rock Slide

Gengar
- Skill Swap
- Shadow Ball/Destiny Bond/Explosion
- Thunderbolt
- Ice Punch

Skill Swapping Slaking is an old 2 vs. 2 trick, but it works really well since Slaking is a monster without Traunt. Have Slaking Protect the first turn while you Skill Swap it and then proceed to sweep. Other good Skill Swappers are Hypno, Dusclops, Misdreavus, Lunatone, Solrock, Gardevoir, Slowbro etc. I like giving Slaking Levitate though, as it protects him from one of the most common moves in 2 vs. 2.

Charizard @Salac Berry
-Substitute
-Earthquake
-Belly Drum
-Rock Slide/Hidden Power Flying

Clefable
-Follow Me
-Seismic Toss
-Thunder Wave
-Softboiled

This is another old combo, but it’s one that you should watch out for. All Clefable needs to do is use Follow Me while Charizard sets up, gets a speed boost from Salac Berry and then sweeps the opposing team. The only thing that can stop this is Rock Slide. Surf might work, but Charizard has a chance of surviving a Surf in 2 vs. 2 even at half health. Also, Follow Me Clefable works well against just about anything that needs setting up, like Pokemon with Dragon Dance or Calm Mind.

I use Reflect over Seismic Toss on my Clefable. I also use Wish, but that's because I overlook the fact that it can softboil >_>
