A Celebi with leftovers and only attack moves... that's beyond bad, that's HORRIBLE, At least unless it's super effective

Overall, needs leftovers later on. Curse on Swampert is a breeding move, so you can use protect if needed. IF you do use Protect, Counter is a great alternative over Surf, especially since your team is somewhat defensively frail.

Wow, look at all those unevolved Pokemon eh? Hint: EVOLVE THEM.

I already said this once today, but I’ll say it again:
You should learn never to give a Pokemon two attacking moves of the same type. Don’t use both Volt Tackle AND Thunderbolt on the same Pokemon, or Overheat AND Flamethrower…you get my point?

Pikachu with Light Ball is about the only unevolved Pokemon that works well. But Pikachu’s defenses and HP are so weak that it won’t be able to survive to Agility and the recoil from Volt Tackle will kill it in a few turns. You can Encore the opponent to make them repeat non-damaging moves, then hide behind a Sub and attack from there. It sucks that you can’t get Surfs or max Hidden Powers easily, because Pikachu needs a second special attack.
Seriously, though, Raichu is way better even though Light Ball won’t work on it.

[email protected]Leftovers
>bulk up
>Hi Jump Kick/Brick Break
>Rock Slide
>Rapid Spin/Earthquake/Return/Mach Punch

What are you doing with Macho Brace? That item cuts a Pokemon’s speed in half, so you’ll always be slower for no reason. The only good thing about that item is for EV-training, but I don’t think you know what EVs are. Replace with Leftovers. Anyways, Hi Jump Kick is stronger than Rolling Kick (you’ll need to breed for it though). Rock Slide or else Flying types will give you trouble. The last move can vary. Rapid Spin clears things like Spikes and Leech Seed. Return and Earthquake are both for additional damage, although they won’t be very useful. And Mach Punch is used to finish off weak opponents (and yes, that’s about the only time you’ll use two attacking moves of the same type.

[email protected]Leftovers
>flamethrower
>dragonclaw
Sunny Day
Substitute

I assume you want a special attacking Charizard since you taught it those kinds of moves. Special Charizard works pretty well since no type of Pokemon resists the Fire+Dragon combo. Too bad it can learn that many different special attacks, which is why most people prefer a physical attacker. Anyways, Sunny Day helps you out against Waters and boosts your fire power. Substitute protects you from status effects and gives you an extra turn for Sunny Day or attacking.

[email protected]Leftovers/Choice Band
>earthquake
Meteor Mash
Explosion
Agility/Rock Slide

What? Lucky Egg only works for Chansey, not Metang! Besides, it’s a bad item. Anyways, Earthquake is the only good move here but I suppose your Metang is still at a low level. Metagross needs Meteor Mash since that’s its best attack. Explosion, while you’ll be killing yourself, can be your last resort in defeating a tough opponent. And Agility is useful since few things are scarier than a fast Metagross. But if you’re using Choice Band, stick with Rock Slide, which is particularly useful against Zapdos.

[email protected]
>psychic
>Leech Seed/Calm Mind
>Recover
>Heal Bell/Baton Pass

Celebi is a great Pokemon but you’re ruining it with your moves. Psychic is really the only good attack for it. You can use Giga Drain for things like Tyranitar who you can’t handle, but it’s not as strong in the long run. Leech Seed is great on Grass types in general and Recover lets it stay alive extra long. Now Heal Bell is also great as Celebi is a very good cleric. However, there’s another strategy with Celebi.
You can use Calm Mind to boost your special and Baton Pass to another Pokemon like Charizard or Pikachu, who can use the special boost to sweep the opponent’s team.

[email protected]Leftovers
>ice beam
>earthquake
>Curse
>Rest/Surf

Okay, it’s future-Swampert. Well, Swampert really works better as a physical attacker than a special one, although it can certainly use special attacks well. The idea behind this is to Curse up, Rest if you are low on health or statused, and attack with a super powerful Earthquake. You can certainly replace Rest with Surf if you need a water move, but you lose the ability to heal yourself.

Didnt I posted here a long time ago? It probley go deleted! And love Volt Takle! But I give this team a 6 becuse some of these items such as Nevermeltice and Charcoal only has 10% to boost those moves but Lucky Egg only works for Chansey!

Are you talking to me? If you are, then thank you! ^_^

You can get reteach any level-up move to a Pokemon if you get an item called a Heart Scale (found only on Luvdisc) then go to Fallarbor Town and visit the Move Relearner who lives in the little house on the left side.

Also, Substitute is a great move because it blocks status, stat-lowering moves, a bunch of other things, and gives you an extra turn at attacking.

Heart scales can be found in many places other than luvdisc. In emerald you can get them in lotsa places (on the beach of slateport and mauville) and im guessing somewhere in lilycove. And in ruby and sapphire it can be found on the ocean floor in some places

All move tutors are found in the Battle Frontier if you're playing Emerald. You need to gain battle points in order to buy them (and that means winning lots and lots of battles).

If you're playing FR/LG, they're in different places all over the world. I can elaborate on it if you're playing these versions.

Encore is only a bred-on move for Pikachu. If you don’t want to get a new Pikachu, you can always reteach this one Charm or Thunder Wave to either stop opponents from attacking or lower their attack so that they can’t hurt you as much.

Get a male Cleffa (who learns Encore as soon as it hatches), evolve it into Clefairy and breed it with a female Pikachu.

Oh yeah, you can only teach a move tutor once and only once. You can always get another game and trade your Pokemon over there to teach it extra moves. Maybe you have a Fire Red/Leaf Green.

Also good job on your shiny Machop. Machamp is a lot better than Hitmontop. Give it the following moves when it evolves:
Machamp @Leftovers
Cross Chop
Rock Slide
Bulk Up
Light Screen/Counter

Most of the moves are self explanatory. Light Screen lets you survive Psychic attacks or you can Counter back physical attacks (it will certainly surprise Flying pokemon).

OR

You can use Choice Band Machamp for that extra Attack boost

Machamp @Choice Band
Cross Chop
Rock Slide
Earthquake
Facade

Facade because if you get statused, you will gain an extra boost from your Guts trait and Facade's base damage will double (from 70 to 140!).

In Emerald, you find them in the Battle Frontier. In FireRed/LeafGreen, Rock Slide is somewhere in the 2nd level of Rock Tunnel and Counter is in the third floor of Celadon Dpt. Store.

That is correct. There are two types of battles in Pokemon. The first is in-game, which puts you against the AI (Artificial Intelligence) of the game, and the other is competitive/link battling, which puts you against another person. Both of these types of battling require a vast different set of strategies.

Against the AI, you really want to focus more on typing and utilizing STAB attacks to quickly wipe out your AI opponents. Since the intelligence (and I use that term VERY loosely) is god-awful predictable, it is easy to counter anything your computer opponent does. Not only do they typically limit the typing of their Pokes, but they also will NEVER use any items until their Pokes HP gets past 50%. This is lame because you already know exactly how to beat them - either a STAB move to OHKO them, or a weaker move to take them down 1/3 HP and then your power move to KO them the next turn. To be fair, the Battle Frontier is by far the most challenging AI simply because of its randomness and that it covers its typing a little better.

Against another person, the strategy is drastically different. You have to consider using disabling moves, phasing moves, un-phasing moves, counters, and putting moves on Pokes that turn out to be pretty useless when you battle with the AI. Your focus moves more from proper typing to proper roles. Physical sweeper, special sweeper, mixed sweeper, phaser, psuedo-phaser, spiker, tank, sponge, and annoyer are just a few roles that you need to consider for your team when battling against another person.

What exactly is the point here? Just that you don't have to get too wrapped up in the makeup of your team in-game. Well, with the exception of BF. Just have a well-rounded team that covers its weaknesses and you will defeat any AI opponent rather easily. Personally, the only time I have ever lost to an AI opponent, in all of the different Poke games over the years, has been in Emerald's BF. I am still learning competitive battle strategy so it is actually competitive for me. I am holding out hope that GF will some day take the Nature idea that they created with Pokes in RSE/FRLG and apply it to trainers. That would be a great step in the right direction.

wut do u think now??? and also could u give me an idea of some better items because my buddy doesnt wanna trade crappy pkm for more items like leftovers...gets boring, can u maybe give me some good hard to get items.

the 1's who asked about celebi...it was hard to get and i lucked out HARD! was less then 70 CND and a trip to micro play to download it through jap versions to mine...easy done...also i once tried a cheating device and it screwed up my game so dont bother guys it will cost you your game and the pkm WONT work same with mew and jirachi...they just wont obey, and wont be able to trade them either just for looks and to fill your pokedex i guess...but i think jirachi is impossible to get without a cheat device...good way to get celebi is buying a jap game off ebay...easy as said if u got the money to fork out! and if u do it will work and obey like any other pkm...and will kick butt!

Cool, it’s coming along very nicely. Just a few pointers:

*I’ve known from experience that Submission sucks. It misses a lot of the time, the recoil damage stinks, and Focus Punch is much stronger if you can get it to hit. If you seriously can’t get Substitute, use Thunder Wave. Paralyzation is nice and maybe it will give you a free turn to use Focus Punch

*Fly stinks in general. It has a chance of missing and during the turn you Fly up, your opponent has the chance to switch to a Rock type to resist it. Give Charizard either Aerial Ace as a STAB move or Earthquake for Rocks/Electrics.

*What happened to your Marshtomp? O_o

*Leftovers really is the best item out there.
Another item is Choice Band, good on physical attackers like your Machamp or Metagross. But you’ll have give them all 4 physical moves for it to be truly effective.
Berries can also be good. Salac, Petaya, and Liechi Berry are hard to get but work really well because they boost a certain stat when activated. But they only activate when you’re below 25% health so you need either Endure or Substitute to make sure that happens.
Lum Berry is handy for healing your status once.
Shell Bell also recovers HP, but you must hit your opponent as hard as you can to heal yourself.

marshstomp eh? should i keep it? is it really good or sumtin? if so just say so and ill put it back in the team, was just thinking maybe there is a better pkm for my team....no?
