mewtwo 96
Psychic

It’s a good team overall, but not nearly good enough for 2 vs. 2. You need to understand that there’s a lot of things in 2 vs. 2 to watch out for:

Explosion – This is the big one. Everytime you see Metagross or Gengar, expect them to explode. The only real way to counter this is to use Protect or Substitute.

Weather based team – Another common one. Since Kyogre and Groudon are allowed, expect a lot of teams to be based around Sunny Day or Rain Dance. You have a Kyogre of your own, but you’re not taking advantage of the rain. None of your other Pokemon have Thunder, Water attacks, or Swift Swim which will give you a huge advantage against your opponents.

Skill Swap/Follow Me/Helping Hand – Not as common, but very effective 2 vs. 2 strategies. Skill Swap is 90% of the time used with Slaking because a Slaking without Traunt is very SCARY. Follow me is 90% of the time used with Charizard because while its teammate takes damage, Charizard can use Belly Drum to max its attack and then sweep opposing teams. Helping Hand is used for general attack boosts for ally Pokemon.

With that said, let’s see how your team can be more suitable for 2 vs. 2. Also remember that you can’t use same items twice for this tourney.

For the most part, only 4 of your Pokemon actually work well in 2 vs. 2. Both Charizard and Venusaur are the weak links in this team. If you want to use them both, replace Kyogre with Groudon. But you have a better chance of winning if you use other Pokemon.

It’s a good Mewtwo. I’d consider replacing one of its special attacks with a more defensive move, like Calm Mind to boost your special or Taunt, which prevent opponents from using Skill Swap/Follow Me/Helping Hand mentioned above, as well as other support moves.

charizard 100
fire blast
aerial ace
dragon claw
Slash

Charizard will suck in the rain. I’d just totally replace it for a Blissey:

Blissey @Leftovers
Softboiled
Aromatherapy/Heal Bell
Icy Wind
Light Screen/Protect/Counter

Blissey is a full on support Pokemon that resists any special attack, which you will face a lot when fighting ubers. She can heal herself and heal your team. Icy Wind because it hits both opponents AND lowers there speed. Speed is very important in 2 vs. 2 so you’ll be at an advantage if you can make them slower. Light Screen for further special protection, Protect to survive physical hits, or Counter to knock physical hits back.

Kyogre 84 @Scope Lens
thunder
surf
ice beam
calm mind

Perfect moveset. Perhaps you should build your team around this Pokemon

venusaur 100
sludge bomb
leech seed
sleep powder
razor leaf (anything worth switching this for?)

I’d replace Venusaur all together for a Pokemon with Swift Swim. Either Ludicolo or Kingdra:

Ludicolo @Lum/Petaya Berry
Surf/Hydro Pump
Ice Beam
Leech Seed
Substitute

Kingdra @Lum/Petaya Berry
Surf/Hydro Pump
Ice Beam
Toxic
Substitute

Both of them will have around 400 speed in the Rain and can launch boosted Surfs against both opponents, or Hydro Pumps against one. Lum Berry because it heals Paralysis, which totally cripples these two. Or, since Sub prevents Status, use Petaya to boost your Sp. attack

zapdos 100 Salac Berry
Thunder
drill peck
Light Screen
Substitute/Protect/Thunderbolt

Thunder takes advantage of Drizzle. Rest-talking is a bad idea in 2 vs. 2 since enemies will be hitting you so hard that if you use Sleep Talk and choose Rest again, you’re not only giving one enemy a free turn, you’re giving TWO enemies a free turn. A better choice would be Light Screen, which shield both of your Pokemon. The last move can be Sub or Protect, which blocks Explosion among other things, or T-wave to incapacitate opponents

Rayquaza [b]@Shell Bell/Choice Band
extremespeed
aerial ace
Earthquake
Protect/Rock Slide

Oh yeah, definitely use Rayquaza. Air Lock is soooo important because it nullifies the opponent’s weather moves. You should only use Dragon Dance when your ally has Follow Me, otherwise you’d die if both your opponents attack you. I like Protect because it keeps it surviving for one more turn and in that one turn, your ally can defeat the opponent’s Kyogre or Groudon and not have to worry about weather moves again. Choice Band is also good though, so use Rock Slide over Protect if you’re going CB.

No, Drizzle will still go on. Air Lock only nullifies it as long as Rayquaza is in play. When it faints or when you switch it out, the effects of Drizzle activate again.
