For the my first time ever, i found this program for battling online. One word: AWESOME

I just won two fights in a row, but this showed some weaknesses in my play:
1.I was just guessing at what types pokemon had, as i only played GSC before.
2.Never played a link battle.(no experiance)
3. Some of my pokemon(gyarados, sulamence) went down before doing anything because i wasnt sure what types i was facing.(again, only played GSC)

What do you think of this team? I know it dosnt have heal bellers and is pretty boring. I just made it up on the spot from common sense mostly. Ive head sulamence was pretty good, so i added him too. fully original team, but boring old movesets...

Well, your Pokemon choices are solid and your movesets are pretty standard, so it can’t be your moves that caused you problems.
One of the problems might be that you didn’t set their Natures and EVs. These are 2 new concepts in R/S that are extremely important for a good team. Both Natures and EVs have a big affect on a Pokemon’s stats. If you don’t know what these are, there are plenty of guides on the internet that can teach you, like Gamefaqs or Serebii.

Another problem may lie in your unfamiliarity with R/S Pokemon. To fix this, look up all the new Pokemon on a Pokedex. I suggest Smogon (http://www.smogon.com/advance/pokemon) since their Pokedex is more geared toward competitive battling. The new Pokemon you should pay particular attention to are:

Sceptile
Blaziken
Swampert
Breloom
Flygon
Ludicolo
Metagross
Jirachi
Milotic
Medicham
Regice
Slaking
Ninjask
Dusclops
Salamence

All these Pokemon are used widely by R/S players and you need to know what their standard movesets are and how to counter them. You can even use them in your own team, if you’d like.

Also pay attention to other new stuff, like new attacks (Calm Mind, Will-o-wisp, Wish, etc.), new items (Choice Band, new berries), and Pokemon traits. All of these have a bearing during the battle.

Good luck in your learning quest.

Oh and one more thing:
Give Salamence Hidden Power Flying. It’s a Flying type after all, so it gets STAB, making that it’s strongest attack.

That site you link is a must read, thanks. I was using it last night to get a quick understanding of what pokemon i was facing. You saw me using thunderbolt on a ground pokemon last night, so yeah types\etc are being a challenge. I switched out the sulamence for vaporeon and starmie for jirachi, which works alot better. I have a BP set on the vapor, but im getting the impression BP isnt useable. The gyarados feels like more of a liability currently with so many thunderpunchs\HP electric getting used and im swiching it out with a heal beller like blissey. That W-o-W is nasty and all over the place.

you shouldn't have so many water types on one team IMO. Trade either Vappy or Starmie for a ground type. Swampert could replace Gyarados in that instance.

Go to www.serebii.net and look up natures and EVs. That will help you make this stronger.

One thing, e4. If you replace GD with SB on Gengar, he won't have much of a Swampert counter.

E4, you can’t properly rate a Netbattle team if they don’t give their EVs and Natures. That why I refrained from an actual team rate because the original poster still has a lot to learn about competitive battling in Advance.

any pokemon i would want to stay in with that was weak to SD would kill me with psychic

genghar (lefties) Mild, maxed Spc A\maxed speed
thunderbolt
Focus Punch
giga drain
Substitute

Not bad, but you don't have any effective means to counter Bliss/Lax. Sub and FP is highly suggested.

snorlax (lefties) Careful EVs: HP/Atk/Def/SDef
curse
body slam
earthquake/Shadow Ball
rest

I have tried Impish and Adamant, but Careful works the best. Your EVs should be spread out a little more as well. You don't need max Def since you are going to Curse up anyway. Put some into Atk and SDef. Also, SB might be a better option against Gengar that is running amock.

skarmony(leftovers) EVs: HP/Atk/Def/maybe 4 in Spd, Impish, keen eye.
drill peck
roar
spikes
taunt[b]/rest

Again, I also started out with Jolly/max Speed EV with Skarm. Aragorn suggested Impish instead, and I am glad I switched. Throwing everything at Spd doesn't make that much of difference, compared to shoring up the Def and HP. Also, Rest gives Skarm a little more lasting power.

jirachi (lefties) maxed HP, spc A\D EV both 128\127, calm
calm mind
psychic
substitute
thunderbolt

Cannot comment on Jirachi since I haven't used it/seen it played.

blissy (lefties) maxed HP\maxed defense, bold.
ice beam
softboiled
t-wave/Seismic Toss
aeromotherapy

You already have a Special tank in Snorlax. Might I suggest a mixed sweeper? Swampert, perhaps? If not, ST is a good move for Bliss. Consistent damage, despite its horrific Atk.

dugtrio(choice band) EVs: 252 Spd/252 Atk/6 HP adamament
rock slide
earthquake
aerial ace/HP Flying
HP bug/Sludge Bomb

CBers should have max Atk and max Spd EVs. Also consider SB.
Still learning the best EV sets, so I didn't comment on a few of them.

Actually, aragorn suggested the Gar set to me and it kicks ***!! Taunt over Sub, eh? That sounds pretty interesting, but doesn't that leave FP pretty vulnerable?

any pokemon i would want to stay in with that was weak to SD would kill me with psychic

genghar (lefties)
EVs: 196 Atk / 184 Spd / 128 SAtk
Hasty Nature (+Spd, -Def)

thunderbolt
Sub
Focus Punch

ice punch

Learn to spell Gengar if that's not a nickname. Also use the format for EVs and nature I have used. That set change and ev change makes this McGar which means you now have a Skarmbliss counter. Pert can be countered by Lax IF you can get enough Curses, I haven't seen him in a while anyway.

snorlax (lefties)
EVs: 156 HP / 76 Atk / 136 Def / 140 SDef
Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk)

curse
body slam
Shadowball
rest

I'm seeing more Gengars again, so use Shadowball to be on the safe side.

skarmony(leftovers)
EVs: 240 HP / 56 Atk / 196 Def / 16 Spd
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)

drill peck
roar
spikes
taunt

Check your spelling again. Skarm doesn't need that much speed.

jirachi (lefties)
EVs: 212 HP / 172 Def / 68 SAtk / 56 SDef
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)

calm mind
psychic
[b]Wish
Fire Punch

Jirachi really needs Wish to survive.

blissy (lefties)
252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)

ice beam/T-wave
softboiled
Seismic Toss
aeromotherapy

Same EVs and nature except one thing, by maxing just two stats you waste 4 valuble EVs.

dugtrio(choice band)
252 Atk / 252 Spd / 4 HP
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)

rock slide
earthquake
aerial ace
HP bug

Standard just watch out for Raikou, if you have too much of a problem then use Jolly Duggy.
All the sets were pretty standard, you just have an EV and Nature problem.

Focus Punch is used mainly with prediction anyway. Taunt still stops those Thunder Waves and other status inflictors, but it also stops random other annoying stuff as well.

Kataphraktoi, you typed your entire team up but it doesn’t look neat. In Netbattle. Go to File and then choose Export to Text. Copy the team and paste it here.
It’s easy, fast, and much neater as well.

Sorry about that, didnt know that option existed. My current team i have a few 5-0 and 6-0 sweeps with and some 1-0's(courtesy of snorlax as ussual)
Jolteon gets away with the agilty\BP thing alot. Ussualy goes like this-i use agil, they switch to an EQ poke, i baton to someone like machamp, heracross, etc and smash them. after a back and fourth battle i try to save snorlax for last if they are tough and sweep em out with as many curses as possible. Got many of my EVs off of smogon, but im not sure that my natures are very good. My machamp is photocopied off smogon so i guess its pretty good (not shown here obvoiusly)

One question...does jolteon pass the agility bonus or the direct speed bonus from his agility? All those Spd EVs may be over-doing it.

Jolteon (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Volt Absorb
EVs: 79 HP / 252 Spd / 179 SAtk
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Agility
- Baton Pass
- Hidden Power [Grass]
- Thunderbolt

Skarmory (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Keen Eye
EVs: 197 HP / 23 Atk / 172 Def / 118 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Roar
- Spikes
- Taunt
- Steel Wing
[im aware the speed isnt that good, but i havnt removed it yet]

Blissey (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 6 SDef
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Aromatherapy
- Softboiled
- Thunder Wave
- Seismic Toss

Gengar (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 186 Spd / 159 SAtk / 165 SDef
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Destiny Bond
- Giga Drain
- Ice Punch
- Thunderbolt

Heracross (M) @ Salac Berry
Trait: Swarm
EVs: 162 HP / 96 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Brick Break
- Hidden Power [Rock]
- Megahorn
- Swords Dance

Snorlax (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Immunity
EVs: 224 HP / 140 Def / 146 SDef
Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Curse
- Rest
- Return
- Shadow Ball
[i quickly stopped using EQ snorlax, its not nearly as good imho]

Jolteon passes +2 speed for every Agility it uses. This basically means it will double the speed of whatever Pokemon it passes to if it only uses one Agility. It will not pass it's own speed to them (otherwise, you'd get a Snorlax with 700+ speed and that's just not right)

Jolteon (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Volt Absorb
EVs: 79 HP / 252 Spd / 179 SAtk
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Agility
- Baton Pass
- Hidden Power [Grass]
- Thunderbolt

Max Special Attack. Lower the Speed a little to 374. The only Pokemon that have the same speed as Jolteon are Aerodactyl and Crobat. Crobat will obviously not stay in. Tieing with Aerodactyl is also way too risky, you only have a 50% of going first if you tie in speed with another Pokemon.

Skarmory (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Keen Eye
EVs: 197 HP / 23 Atk / 172 Def / 118 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Roar
- Spikes
- Taunt
- Steel Wing

Max HP always. Also, speed is pointless on Skarmory. It's meant to defend. Give it Impish nature and remove those Speed EVs and put them into HP and Defense

Blissey (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 6 SDef
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Aromatherapy
- Softboiled
- Thunder Wave
- Seismic Toss

Standard, but old. Watch out for Gengar and Dugtrio. Most Blisseys nowadays have Ice Beam or Counter to handle those two.

Gengar (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 186 Spd / 159 SAtk / 165 SDef
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Destiny Bond
- Giga Drain
- Ice Punch
- Thunderbolt

I prefer max Sp. Attack mainly because Gengar doesn't get special STAB on anything so it needs that extra boost in Sp. Attack

Heracross (M) @ Salac Berry
Trait: Swarm
EVs: 162 HP / 96 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Brick Break
- Hidden Power [Rock]
- Megahorn
- Swords Dance

Don't use Salac Berry without Substitute or Endure. If using Salac, use the Reversal set. But I like CBCross sinc e it can seriously hurt even Pokemon resistant against it's attack. Give it the Guts trait because then it also has nothing to fear from Weezing since CB+Guts cancel out the Burn.

Snorlax (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Immunity
EVs: 224 HP / 140 Def / 146 SDef
Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Curse
- Rest
- Return
- Shadow Ball

Yeah, unless your team has serious Gengar problems, Earthquake is better for a whole lot of stuff.

Claydol has Levitate as well, so EQ won't work against em.
