Naminé likes the irony in school filter and finds it amusing. She loves to go on the computer in research classes, and snack off with the reason/excuse that the school internet filters block out most of the encyclopedia sites because enecyclopedia will always mention something related to sex somewhere in one of their many entries and articles.

School filters are suppose to force students to only visit educational websites, yet ironically the school filters will also lock the access to most of those websites. Therefore, Naminé prefers not to use the school computers at all~

That happened to me a few times, it's really a pain to get around those things. At my old high school, our computers had a "remote" setting. So the librarians could see anything and everything that everyone was doing, and also control the computers. They'd used to freak out the new kids that were on sites they shouldn't be on by having random messages appear in large red text on the screen.

...happened to me a few times too. <<

Ah, yeah, school computers. ><; My history teacher wants to take my class on a trip to Boston, just for fun, and he tried to use his classroom computer to find out how much a bus would cost. But even that was blocked out on the school system...

And doing health research projects were never fun. Especially when we had to do research on a particular drug. Almost all those sights are blocked. <<;

My school has an incredibly antiquated filter program called Bess that automatically blocks a site if one person sends a complaint about it through the filter program to the Bess screening headquarters, wherever that may be. In this way, almost all educational material on the internet is off limits thanks to people who find everything objectionable. A site can be banned by Bess for having a joke on it, for being a free web page, for having links to commercial sites like ebay, and other minor offenses, even simply being deemed "non-educational" for no apparent reason.

My searches tend to be so filtered that I've given up using anything but wikipedia as a source for research, and that will almost definitely be banned soon for having "questionable" information that one could find in a physical encyclopedia in the school library of their own free will. On the other hand, the numerous pornographic sites that google and other search engines dredge up for little to no reason with all the valid results to a given query are completely unblocked and are frequently and clandestinely accessed by other students. As Ms. Naminé said, there is a great deal of irony in the filters, although it is somewhat negated that irony tends to be of amusement to me only when it is not affecting me negatively.

Oh, Jorge, our school implemented that some time ago but most teachers are not willing to put in the effort to monitor the class for the entire period. Last year, my government teacher was the only one who seemed to have the patience to monitor, and I did not test his vigilance or the program itself for fear that he would use more subtle punishments, such as grade deductions, rather than call me out in class for it; many people around me were casually surfing the internet but none were repremanded.

Ah, it's not that bad; I tend to have a tighter ring of sites that I'm more dedicated to rather than pointless, destinationless surfing. If I'm not using wikipedia's random article feature I'm usually trying to solve the USA Today internet crossword with a friend or two...I'm one of the few people at school who still try and use the computers for educational purposes even when I have the opportunity for recreation on them.

In other news, I have a strange fascination with your avatar...one of the more amusing things I've seen in a while.

Wow...thats definately beat. Our school has a filter system, but thankfully not that in depth. And thankfully Ive found several ways around the filter as well. XD

Sounds bad to be on school computers and not be able to go to all the sites you want.
Then again I don't blame them for blocking sites, sure it's bad for all the students but the teachers are there to teach. You know they're going to block sites that takes learning time away from the kids. XD

I really wish kids in my school system could realize just how lucky they are to get the education they do. Most of my teachers are really good, except my physics teacher who basically calls us stupid every day, and kids around here don't see that. They'd rather waste time in a class where you don't learn anything than actually take advantage of what they have being offered to them.

As for the computer thing... yeah, I see why they block some things. If you're in the computer lab as part of another class, then you should do what you're supposed to be doing. But I, along with many upperclassmen, have a lot of study halls, and every once in a while I use the computers for recreation because I have absolutely no work to do because it's my 3rd free period in a row. ><;

Naminé isn't sure if some teachers should be teaching at all. Some of them take attempts at teaching, while some others are terrible. Most of the time, students will have to rely on the limited amount of handouts, and read the textbook to hopefully have the luck and the gift to understand the concepts. Sometimes it maybe a good idea to go ask for help from a teacher who doesn't teach you directly, but teaches the same subject. Some teachers are willing to answer Naminé's questions even though she isn't in their class, which is nice of them to do so. Yet, a class maybe so boring that Naminé falls asleep in class even if the teacher is teaching, and she will have to rely on learning the material by herself in the end~

Of course, what Ms.Ashely said is true. It is fortunate that most of us here are able to afford, or is given a chance at education, regardless of how well the school teaches.

Yeah, I know what you mean. My entire class has a hardcore case of senioritis and very few teachers even attempt to teach us anymore because we basically run the school and do whatever we please. Oh, how great it is to be a senior. XD

On the upside, we are going to need a substantial number of people to work for us someday. People, in time, receive their just reward for apathy, though it may be irksome now. I'm always distressed to see people willingly rush along the path to proletarian drudgery, but I'm seeing these kind of people more and more as a necessary evil.

The entire concept of senioritis is a frustrating one to me, as my teachers assume that since I am a senior I have no choice but to be lazy, and even though I have been working incredibly hard all year to keep my salutatorian position my teachers are perceiving me as being lazy and therefore taking points off of my grade wherever I can because of the senior stereotype.

Ugh...yeah. I also know what you mean here. Teachers seem to always like to take full advantage of their status, and unfortunately it can sometimes result in the docking of points. :\ That's freaking awesome that you are salutatorian though. XD Good luck with keeping those grades up and finishing the year with that positon. That is seriously awesome.

Anywho...I'm gonna take advantage of the beautiful weather and go for a run before work. Take it easy everyone.
