Fire Pokemon in R/S/E are generally pretty sucky. The best is Blaziken of course.

Assuming that you didn’t choose that as a starter, then the 2nd best would have to be Camerupt. It’s rather strong and an all around cool Pokemon as well.

Ninetales are all right but their poor movepools make them too limited in battle as they can only really use Fire attacks and have to rely on status if a Rock, Water, or enemy Fire type comes out. Granted, Grudge is a pretty awesome move.

Blaziken is pretty awesome just as the sole RSE fire pogey. Camerupt in quite the close second.

In terms of things you can actually get in Emerald, though, iirc Houndoom and Arcanine are obtainable, both of which can get really nice movepools.

along the same lines, which is the best Electric Pokemon in Emerald? there aren't many, so I would guess it would be Manectric. Any thoughts?

Magneton most likely. It’s the 4th most used electric type, after Zapdos, Jolteon, and Raikou (actually, it may be even more popular than Raikou). No one would use Manectric because Jolteon and Raikou does everything better. But Magneton can do something no other Electric can do, and that’s trap Skarmory and Forretress with Magnet Pull.

I'd say the best electric is... ya, manetric.

Where the heck do you get an Arcanine on Emerald? Is it in the Safari zone?

Totally agree with aragorn on this one. Magneton, or Maggie, is easily the best Electric-type in the Hoenn region. Manectric is just a slow Jolteon and therefore inferior to Maggie. Plus, despite the fact that Maggie is 4x weak against Ground, and includes weaknesses to Fighting and Fire, which regular Electric-types don't have, it is at least 2x resistant against ALL other types not called Water (Normal damage), including a 4x resistance to Flying and Steel, and an immunity to Poison. Add the fact that it has Magnet Pull (as aragorn also pointed out before) and it becomes arguably the best non-legendary Electric-type in the game. Jolteon is ahead and behind Maggie, depending on what you want from an Electric-type.

You can get Arcanine in Emerald by evolving Growlithe. LOL

Seriously though, you CANNOT get Growlithe/Arcanine in Emerald. It can ONLY be found in FireRed, on Routes 7-8 and in the Cinnabar Mansion. For pure Emerald Fire-types, go with Blaziken or Camerupt.

Wrong section to post IMO, but w/e.

Blaziken > All Fire types in RSE

As for electric types, I'm a big fan of Lanturn, though I don't really use Electric types in RSE except my traded Zapdoses =/

Only reason to use magneton is to kill skarm...And since its ingame u wont be seeing many of those.Granted it can help in ur battle against steven [or whatever his name is...the old champion from RS]

best fire in emerald [not including blaziken] would be houndoom..[although u have to beat the E4 to get it]
and lanturn is the best electric...
U can also get mareep in the safari zone with houndour. That's a cool poke...and can actually get a second special move in fire punch when it evolves...[which u may not need since u wanted to know abt a fire pokemon =|]...

Groudon isnt a fire type. Torkoal's not all that good IMO.
