Metal Sound Zapdos is used quite often, as I'm sure we all like a chance to take down a special wall with a special sweeper. It's not overrated, as aThunderbolt off a STABed base 120 SAtk will usually 2-3HKO Snorlax after a Metal Sound. Heck I've seen Zapdos nearly 5HKO without it.

While being vulnerable to attacks. Heracross for example has 4x weakness to flying...while your gambling on a 33.3% chance to use a attack to ohko(you hope anyway). Thats only a bit better than an ohko move.

You wouldn't keep Hera in on a Flying Type anyway, unless you know it's slower and can be OHKOd. Even then, you wouldn't gamble with Stalking 1 on 1 vs a Flying type unless you were desperate.

And just as effective in adv? You can run rest on practicly every poke in gsc and get away with it. While it is a great move on some pokes, that general statement doesnt tie in with what ive seen personally.

Well, if we're talking a CBer that's been Sleep Powdered or Hypnotized and uses Sleep Talk, then it's a pretty cool move as it was in GSC. However, in advanced, i must agree with you as Now that Rest is available in your sleep talking options, Nintendo has almost screwed you over.
still, Overall, Stalking is for defensive purposes, and not really meant to be used such as when Zapdos is up against a CBMence and has Thunderbolt and HP Ice in it's arsenal. You should play it smart and switch as effetively as you would when the sleep talker was awake.
