Are Gyarados and Golem good Pokemon to add to an in-game team? If so, what movesets should I give them?

Gyarados @ Leftovers
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
-Return
-Hydro Pump
-Dragon Dance
-Earthquake

DDrados is one mean guy. This guy is meant to physical sweep all he can. After 3 DDs this guy will kick hard. Hydro Pump for physical walls like Skarmory and Weezing. This works even in-game.

Golem @ Choice Band
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Def
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
-Double-Edge
-Earthquake
-Rollout
-Explosion

CB Golem with Rollout will kick hard. This works in-game too. Double-Edge if you have a Rock Head ability and Earthquake is standard for physical attackers.

I hope this helps. Ignore the EVs if you don't EV train.

Thank you for the movesets. I knew I was forgetting something about good about Gyarados.

You might want to get a special sweeper now because both Golem and Gyarados are physical sweepers. Gardevoir might be a suggestion.

I'm still debating on whether I will use Golem or not, but I will probably think about adding a Special Sweeper to my team. I've used Gardevoir many, many times, so I might try a different Pokemon this time around. Thanks again for the advice though :).

Smogon.com is a good one, or Serebii.net is also great for anything you need to know about those terms and much more.

This isn't the place to ask this. This thread is about PokeManiac's team. PM someone or visit the links PokeManiac provided for you and stop going offtopic.

Don’t mini-mod, YoMama.
And there’s no way that Rollout will work in competitive play, unless the opponent is stupid and doesn’t switch out. They’ll just bring in their Metagross or Swampert or other Rock-resist and Golem is screwed because it can’t switch out. No, just put Rock Slide on over Rollout.

Anyways, Keruri, if you still need help for a load of information, read up on the Pokemon Dictionary: http://www.smogon.com/advance/articles/dictionary

And for EVs, read up on Synch’s EV guide: http://www.pokecommunity.com/showthread.php?t=64755

This is in-game aragornbird. The opponent never swithes out. I wouldn't suggest those movesets if this was NetBattle. In-game anything works. I personally like Rollout in-game especially since it easily takes down Norman. You were probably refering to NetBattle, since there are no Metagross or Swampert in-game. Rock Blast and Rock Slide can be an alternative, but the threat of the opponent switch out in-game is little to none.

if u want a special sweeper, try using a pokemon that has high spec. stats and can learn many different types of moves. a good example would be claydol...it is a psychic type, but its also a ground type giving it good special and physical stats. it can learn many moves. i taught mine solar beam, ice beam, psychic, and confuse ray. another good pkmn would be starmie. it has many diff moves it can learn. i taught mine surf, thunderbolt, ice beam, and psychic. these varieties helped me alot in the battle tower =]

Starmie is one of my favorite special sweepers. I taught mine the exact same moves.

I still think DDrados works in-game. I have a Bulkape and it works great in-game.

Even in-game, Rollout is a waste of time. It’ll take you 4 turns every battle for Rollout to surpass the power of Rock Slide.

Rollout – 30 + 60 + 120 = 210
Rock Slide – 75 + 75 + 75 = 225

And it’s not like Rollout is more accurate either. Both have an accuracy of 90%, but at least Rock Slide doesn’t use power when it misses.
So in conclusion, Rock Slide is far superior to Rollout both in-game and on Netbattle.

And Pkmn Prodigy, that's not a good Claydol set at all. Claydol can’t even learn Confuse Ray. Besides, Claydol isn't meant to be a special sweeper, it's a defensive Pokemon. It's meant to be a Ground/Rock resist with the ability to Rapid Spin and possibly pseudopass stuff like Light Screen or Reflect. It works awesomely in a competitive environment, but if you're looking for a sweeper, there are far better choices.

Sorry about Rollout thing. Its fun to me and I like to use it. I didn't know that Rock Slide is that much stronger.

I'm just curious, but what would be some good UU special sweepers in the game? Is Vileplume a good one?

If you're playing Emerald, then use this as a special sweeper:
GRUMPIG @ Leftovers
Thick Fat

Psychic/Extrasensory
Fire Punch/Ice Punch/Thunderpunch
Substitute
Calm Mind

or in Leaf Green this works great:
SLOWBRO @ Leftovers
Own Tempo

Surf
Psychic/Ice Beam
Calm Mind
Rest/Substitute/Flamethrower

I'm sorry Fr0st. I must admit I got a little out of hand.

I guess I never really bothered to calculate that.
