Uh. I saw this on another site. This is actually sorta interesting.

They add
index.php?ipscheck=1&[email protected]@
to the end of the URL to find out license stuff.

This might not be the only way though.

I'm not sure how Jelsoft finds pirated boards, but you actually have to enter the URL of your board in the member area.
Whenever they suspect a board to be pirated, they probably search the whole directory.

So, if you are using an illegal board and someone reports you, they might find out very quickly.

No, they don't have a "call home"...

It relies on people reporting suspicious URLs, and then they search their database.


Actually... it's possible that they have a script that reads the e-mails first checking them up against the database before the actual team gets them.
