These are just a few combinations I used while playing Emerald and they worked great (mainly due to the computer being very very stupid). On Netbattle they got wasted since many people use sweepers and switch like CRAZY. Anyway, here are just a few move combos I thought up:

Pokemon: Misdreavus
Trait: Levitate
Nature: Timid
Attacks: Mean Look, Perish Song, Attract, Psychic / Hypnosis
Item: Leftovers
Strategy: Well first of all the main technique with this moveset revolves around Misdreavus having to be FAST (a must when playing on Netbattle - when in-game (eg. Emerald) it doesn't really matter since the computer is an idiot, so you shouldn't have any problems pulling off the combo). First of all make Misdreavus use Attract or Hypnosis to subdue your opponent (you might not want to use Hypnosis since it's accuracy basically sucks and you might want to attack once in a while, so best stick with Psychic (it's completely up to you of course)). Once the opponent is either asleep or attracted to Misdreavus follow up with a Mean Look to stop it from switching out. After that you should use Perish Song to finish it up. Using this moveset allows you to completely wipe out one of your opponent's Pokemon without too much hassle, keeping in mind that this can vary depending on Attract's / Hypnosis's effect rate. Psychic is for those who want to pretty much bash your opponent while the countdown...counts down. Oh and you have to withdraw Misdreavus before Perish Song effects your Pokemon (just thought that'd be an important tip). Misdreavus's defence and special defence are pretty much worthless so any super effective let alone just effective attacks may wipe it out. That's why speed is important. This let's you pull off an Attract / Hypnosis early to help minimize the damage you take later on. I couldn't really think of any good item to attach so I just went with Leftovers (best for Netbattle). This strategy takes patience and is kinda based on luck but if you're up for it you should definitely give it a go.

Pokemon: Shuckle
Trait: Sturdy
Nature: Sassy
Attacks: Rest, Toxic, Attract, Double Team
Item: Focus Band / Bright Powder
Strategy: This was kind of an experimental combo that I tried on Netbattle and it faired fairly well (worked great in-game though). Well this is an annoying moveset that focuses around patient players and basically trying to tick off your opponent (for fun of course). Anyway, you start by using either Attract or Toxic (choose the first option to be safe or the second if you just wanna get things rolling). Well depending on which move you used first out of Attract or Toxic, use the other one in your second turn. This method decreases the amount of attacks your opponent uses (again dependant on Attract's effect rate) and also devours your opponent's Pokemon's HP (which is a nice bonus). Once you've completed both attacks follow up by using Double Team repeatedly until your evasiveness is maxed. This will help prevent your opponent from attacking and likely to just piss him or her off. Rest is basically just a backup in case your opponent does pull a fast one on you and you find your Shuckle in danger. But with your evasiveness maxed and your opponent attracted and poisoned you'll have a good chance of waking up to see your opponent squirm. The Focus Band is an added extra that might save you if you've been critically hit. The item acts kinda like Endure in which when you're hit with a massive blow you have a certain chance of not fainting straight away (works fairly well with Rest, makes battles last long as hell though). The only alternative item I coudl think of was Bright Powder which basically backs up your Double Team effect. It decreases your opponent's Pokemon's accuracy which is good for dodging attacks.

Those are two combos I thought up and tried and both worked seemingly well. If you feel like fun then have a go at those two. Oh and if you find any problems and mistakes in my post PLEASE point them out. Any alterations or criticism (constructive) is also appreciated.

Both of these tactics are as old as GSC, and neither of them are as good nowadays. Things are much more offensive for the Perish Trap to work. There are plenty of things that are faster than Misdreavus and/or hit hard enough to do enough damage to KO or 2HKO her. Attract is very situational. This set up completely fails against Metagross, since he has a 4 x resistance to Psychic, and can even pull out a Choice Band-empowered Meteor Mash or Shadow Ball for a KO.

As for your Shuckle, Toxistall also fails. Steel and Poison types immediately resist, anything with Natural Cure can just switch out, and there are clerics to use Aromatherapy/Heal Bell. Besides, since the only offensive move you have is Toxic, we can just wait for you to Struggle with his pathetic attack and then KO, or just throw in the aforementioned Metagross with a Choice Banded Meteor Mash.
