This fanfic follows the story of Danielle Meller, a Pokémon trainer who has started on a Pokémon journey after catching a shiny Pidgey.

Anyway...

Chapter One – The Gold Pidgey
It was a warm, sunny day in New Bark Town. Spearows were squawking in the tall trees. A flock of Pidgeottos flew by overhead, a Pidgey following behind. This was no ordinary Pidgey. It was a gold colour, not beige as it is supposed to be. Danielle was sitting on the sofa in her living room, reading a book called Legend of the Shiny Pokémon. Danielle put the book back on the bookshelf, and stepped outside. She saw the gold Pidgey flying overhead, and instantly got out the Great Ball her father had bought her from when he went to Ecruteak City on business three weeks ago. He was always away on business. She knew that it was a shiny Pidgey. The Great Ball was tiny, but a small button on it made it expand. She pressed it, and threw it in the direction of the Pidgey. A shining red light glowed out of the Great Ball as it hinged open, sucking the gold Pidgey into it. The Great Ball fell to the ground. It wobbled. As it did so, Danielle stared at it, hoping it would soon click and stop wobbling. The Great Ball clicked. Danielle had caught her first Pokémon, and it was a shiny Pokémon.

Chapter Two – PokéGear

Danielle opened the door to her house and stepped in. Her mum was sitting at the table.
“Oh, Danielle, your dad sent you a parcel.” Mum said.
Danielle’s dad was away on business in Goldenrod City. Danielle’s mum handed Danielle the parcel, a brown bag coated with bubble wrap inside. The address was written on it:
Danielle Meller
New Bark Town
Johto

A postage stamp with a picture of a Fearow flying across a blue sky was stuck in the top right corner. Danielle ripped open the parcel. A small, grey device, with a clamshell design, like a fold-up mobile phone, only the size of a wristwatch, with a small screen on the bottom half, was inside. Danielle pulled it out, and flipped it open. She pressed a red button on the bottom half. She looked at the small screen. Static filled it, the tiny speakers fizzing. Slowly, the static faded away, and the fizzing stopped, revealing an image of her father. To her surprise, the image started moving. Then she noticed the small lens on the top half of the device.
“Hello, Danielle” Dad said, through the speakers.
“Hi, Dad!” Danielle replied. “How is Goldenrod?”
“Fantastic, Danielle! They’ve got a massive shopping centre! You should see it!” Dad said.
“Wow! Did you get this here?” Danielle said, referring to the red device.
“Yes I did. It’s a combination video phone, map, watch and radio. Right now, it’s only a watch and a video phone, but, with the addition of cards, it can be a radio and a map. It’s called a PokéGear. This is Version 2, a redesign on the first one.” Dad told Danielle.
“Why did you get it for me?” Danielle asked.
“Well, I hear you were about to start your Pokémon journey. Mum called me. So I got you this so you could let us know you’re safe...” Dad said.
“Well, cheers, Dad! It’s great!” Danielle said.
“Gotta go now, I’ve got a meeting, bye!” Dad said.
“Bye!” Danielle said.
And with that, Dad’s image slowly faded away, revealing a menu, with options for Phone and Time.
“Are you going now, Danielle?” Mum asked.
“Yes, Mum. See you. Bye!” Danielle said, and walked out of the door.
Her Pokémon journey had begun.

That cave above Blackthorn City sure has changed...

Smart choice. A rather weakly catergorized shiny. Excellent way to bring a shiny into the mix of things. This could be good except for what others have already said.

This was strange though.

“Are you going now, Danielle?” Mum asked.
“Yes, Mum. See you. Bye!” Danielle said, and walked out of the door.
Her Pokémon journey had begun.
Not to be harsh, but, oh puh-lease! Are you going now? Yeah sure see ya? I don't think so. Is there no loving connection between them? They talked calmly and she just up and left without so much as a hug or peck on the cheek?

Other than that, could you elaborate more on the parents? What are their names? How do they look? Also the new trainer Danielle...how does she look? Cute? Ugly? Short? Skinny? Fat?

See where I'm goin' with this?

Also, it may have been a weak Pidgey but it still can fight back. It wouldn't be caught so easily. Remember when Ash tried to catch one? It was a fighter. Besides that, YOURS is a shiny. Shinies aren't so easy to get, though sometimes they aren't so hard to catch. Even a Dunsparce or a Weedle might fight back.

It's a bird, so she could've offered the Pidgey some bird feed or taunted it or something. It just didn't seem right. What about following it? Read this for an example of what I mean.

The sun was shining down on New Bark Town, and there were very few clouds in the sky. The climate was fairly warm, but not scorching hot. It was nearly noon as Danielle strolled outside, observing the carefully planted lilacs and Elm trees scattered here and there. Today was her day. She was going to be a trainer, and was ecstatic about this. As she pondered how her life would change once she started her journey, she noticed something.

A flock of graceful birds soared overhead, several feet high. Dragging slowly behind was a determined, special Pidgey. It kept up with the Pidgeotto, giving it's all so it would not be left behind. How was it special you ask? It was a pure golden hue, and it's feathered body gleamed in the daylight. Danielle was absolutely fascinated. She had just been reading up on shiny Pokemon and there was one was. She held a Great ball which was given to her as a gift from her traveling father in her left hand already, so why not go for it? She enlarged the sphere, and chucked it at the Pidgey. It whipped around, now alert, and sent the Great Ball back at Danielle with a burst of wind.

"Hey!" she complained, sidestepping her Great Ball and snatching it up from the grass once it stopped moving. "So..." she whispered, "It won't be that easy?"

The Pidgey dove down, right toward her. She had infuriated it, and it was coming for her. Danielle yelped, swinging her purse as she shielded her face. This, ironically, caused the Pidgey to be caught by surprise, and the purse hit it right on the beak. The dazed bird caught itself in mid-fall, rising up to stare at Danielle, who stared back nervously. Suddenly, the Pidgey pecked away at one of her pockets, and a pile of bird feed spilled out. It darted down after the substance, eating it swiftly.

"No! My bird feed," Danielle said, shocked. Then a thought struck her. "Oh, duh," she whispered, berating herself. She smacked herself in the head with her palm, such a simple gesture. Her long, blonde hair swayed in the wind, tickling her back. This brought her back to reality. She looked over at the Pidgey, and decided to make small talk.

"Hey there," Danielle said sweetly, kneeling down. The bird looked up curiously, all anger gone. It's hunger had taken over. When she didn't continue, it proceeded with the task of devouring the bird feed she had once held in one pocket.

"You like this stuff huh?" Danielle asked. The Pidgey stared up at her again. It nodded. Good. It understood her.

The tiny bird chirped, flapping its wings excitedly as it stared at the bird feed. It must be finished now, she figured, and began scooping the food up into her palm, and putting it in her other pocket.

"Y'know," Danielle said, and hesitated a moment. The Pidgey eyed her suspiciously. It was no fool. "...If you like this stuff so much, come into my Great Ball. There's a lot more where that came from." The Pidgey instantly hopped back a few paces. It didn't want this stuff that badly!

"What's wrong, you don't wanna?" Danielle asked softly, reaching out to pet it. It looked away from Danielle, avoiding contact.

"Oh, I see..." she pouted. "I've never had my own Pokemon, and you seemed nice. I thought maybe-" she instantly perked up when it inched forward. "You'll come?" she asked in a high pitched voice.

It shook its head at her. She got the message: the Pokemon would follow, but not be caught.

"Okay then," Danielle said, grabbing a stick from the ground, and raising it in the air. The golden Pidgey chirped again, confused.

"Hop on," she coaxed. "It's okay."

The bird cautiously flew up onto the new perch. It stared sadly as its flock vanished into the clouds. It had totally forgotten about them, and they about it.

"Aww, they left you? That isn't kind," Danielle announced. She stroked the top of the bird's head with two fingers. She gently scooped it up into her hands and brought the bird up to her level, so it was two feet from her face. "I won't leave you."

The Pidgey saw what her plan was, and flew back. She stopped halfway into reaching for the Great Ball. She took a step toward the Pidgey, grinning. "I'm gonna catch you, no matter what," she declared, as it turned and flew toward a small lake. Danielle dove behind a bush, and crept silently along a naturally formed hedge, so quiet and unnoticed. The Pidgey stopped at a river when it could not see Danielle any more, and just watched its reflection in the water. After about half a minute, it noticed a ripple in the water. It turned to look, but it was too late. A sheet of warm water doused it, making it chirp in fright.

Danielle had trapped it. "Your wings are too wet for flight now," Danielle said triumphantly. The Pidgey nodded, and grimaced. It still was a bit wobbly from when it had collided with her purse.

"Gotcha," Danielle whispered, and tossed the Great Ball. It bumped against the bird's head, which had been bobbing back and forth as it hopped desperately away. The familiar red flash that accompanied all captures enveloped the bird. After a long series of vibrations, the device ceased glowing and moving all at once. She had her first Pokemon.

"Yes!" She cried out, jumping for joy. She smiled at the occupied Great Ball, and then put it away. Once she regained her composure, she started off on the path to her home.
