I've been having a bit of a dilemma on this runthrough of Emerald. I've already planned out a team, movesets, etc. I don't really get into EV's, IV's, or egg moves though, just natures...Anywho, I'll go ahead and post what I have now:

Past Mauville Gym...

Grovyle Lv. 25
Modest
- Screech
- Absorb
- Pursuit
- Quick Attack

Kirlia Lv. 23
Calm*
- Growl
- Confusion
- Double Team
- Calm Mind

*- I was shooting for a timid Ralts, but they were just not showing up so I decided to wait and breed until I got a timid Ralts. Still working on it but no dice. I've probably breeded abou 15 Ralts' by now but I really need a timid one.

This is theam I'm trying to get:

Sceptile
Special Sweeper
Modest @ Leftovers
- Leaf Blade
- Pursuit
- Thunder Punch
- Protect / Detect

Gardevoir
Special Sweeper
Timid @ Unsure
- Psychic
- Thunderbolt
- Calm Mind
- Hypnosis

Skarmory
Spiker
Jolly @ Leftovers
- Spikes
- Roar
- Aerial Ace
- Steel Wing

Milotic
Tank / Annoyer
Jolly @ Leftovers
- Refresh
- Recover
- Surf
- Safeguard

Salamence
Physical Sweeper
Jolly @ Leftovers
- Dragon Dance
- Earthquake
- Dragon Claw
- Brick Break

Miltank
Healer / Tankish
- Milk Drink
- Heal Bell
- Sesimic Toss
- Thunder Wave

You can rate if you wish...anything is greatly apprecieated.

Last thing, I'm going to have a problem in Flannery's gym. Grovyle won't last too long and neither will Kirlia for that matter. Is there any quick ground or water types that are usable against her?

This is theam I'm trying to get:

Sceptile
Special Sweeper
Modest @ Leftovers / Petaya Berry
- Leaf Blade
- Crunch
- Thunder Punch
- Substitute

You're not stalling or pressurewhoring, so might as well block status or even activate Petaya.

Gardevoir
Special Sweeper
Timid @ Unsure
- Psychic
- Thunderbolt
- Calm Mind
- Hypnosis

Leftovers or Lum Berry usually works

Skarmory
Spiker
Jolly @ Leftovers
- Spikes
- Roar
- Aerial Ace
- Steel Wing

Competitively, Taunt works with a good Speed stat, considering you have Jolly. But thats only if your friends use Resting Snorlax and random other stuff =/

Milotic
Tank / Annoyer
Jolly @ Leftovers
- Refresh
- Recover
- Surf
- Safeguard

Such a horrible nature. You have no need for Refresh since Safeguard blocks status, and you have no need for Safeguard as Milotic is meant to take status. Use Ice beam and Toxic over those two slots.

Salamence
Physical Sweeper
Jolly @ Leftovers
- Dragon Dance
- Earthquake
- Dragon Claw
- Aerial Ace

[b]I can't really argue too much about Dragon Claw in-game, but when you're done doing not too much with it, switch it for Rock Slide or Flamethrower/Fire Blast.

Miltank
Healer / Tankish
- Milk Drink
- Heal Bell
- Sesimic Toss
- Thunder Wave

You can rate if you wish...anything is greatly apprecieated.

Carvahna, if you can get a good rod by then. Geodude. Wingull.
Regice actually gives you problems competitively.

That's true but I don't usually play competitively, my only real competition is my brother but he's not all that great...

Could you switch out something with Crunch? I don't really want to go do the whole egg move thing.

Hmm, which nature would you reccomend for Milotic?

- Dragon Claw / Flamethrower
- Aerial Ace

I see your point. I also noticed that I had no fire moves on my team...

Milotic should ALWAYS be Bold Nature. It is one of the few exceptions where the nature should help cover up a weakness. That isn't really a weakness, but it allows Milotic to last longer. As Synch pointed out, Refresh and Safeguard are both LOL!!!! on Milotic since its Marvel Scale Ability increases its Def by 1.5 when it is statused, making it tank even better. Ice Beam and Hypnosis is preferred, but since you don't want to make your Poke better through breeding, you can settle for Toxic.

Fire moves, like Fire-type Pokes aren't really needed. They can be convenient, but can be covered with other moves very easily.

Ooops yeah, I typoed it when I was posting my message and I was changing up things. I think I got Milotic and Miltank up or something, but yeah I originally had bold on Milotic. I forgot about the Marvel Scale ability so yeah I see how I wouldn't need safeguard or refresh... Thanks for the help guys!

Safari Zone. A section opens up after the Elite Four is defeated and you can catch some of the G/S/C generation pokemon in there.

Hmm... interesting team. I really hate Miltank... they are such a pain to catch and it takes me so long to train them up in-game! Curses! *strangles pink cow and prys delicious milk from its cold, hard, unfeeling corpse*. Yes... Miltank is bad, but moomoo milk is the drink of the gods. Anyway, now I shall show off my n00by rating sklizz! (Right now I'm feeling about as dumb as that sounds.)

Hmm... for Sceptile, I'd suggest Giga Drain in place of Crunch if you really don't feel like breeding, but then your team doesn't really have any moves to counter Psychic types. Oh well, I guess you can always stall 'em out with Skarmory...

Dragon Claw should probably be taken off of Salamence... if you want to give it to him anyway, for goodness' sake clone the TM and give it to [email protected] They make much better use of it. *huggles Latias*. I love my Dragon Claw Latias...

Hmm... Milotic is going to be a hell of a Pokemon to track down. You may want to make a back-up team member to replace it, in case of extreme boredom in attempting to track down a Feebas with the correct nature and getting all the berries needed to max beauty out. Feebas is such a pain in my butt...

Flannery can be countered with a Slugma that knows Rock Tomb, or a Geodude. My Kirlia actually took her down when I fought her. It was funny. I beat her Slugma with a rock-tomb using Grovyle and a super potion. (I hear the hisses and boos, no, I didn't keep rock tomb on my Grovyle. That would be dumb.)

Yeah, I'm using Zangoose until I can catch a Miltank. It's fitting in nicely at the moment and helped secure the Flannery battle.

Thanks for the advice.

I must admit your Miltank comment was pretty funny. XD

I have 24 Feebases, 12 of them bred for nature. I'll email you one.

Sceptile can use Quick Attack or Toxic btw. Giga Drain would be quite redundant beside Leaf Blade.
