Edited Sprites I think these are pretty good.

Togice

Togegrass

Togeflame

Red Gyarados

Mutant Mew

Steel Nidoking

Scratch Pokemon These aren't too good.

Meoth Pre-Evolution

Onix Pre-Evolution

Oddish Pre-Evolution

*stares at the scratch sprites and sweatdrops* Better then what I can do, but still a little scary. You're right when you say they need improvement. I'm not sure how well you did the first group though, but I can definitely testify it's better then what I can do. (Then again, I can't even make a trainer card, let alone do spriting.) Togeice and Togefire look like they have bug-eyes unless you look at them very closely, and I can't see the point of the Red Gyarados, but otherwise good job. I must say that I like Mutant Mew- good move adding the Crobat wings. What did you take the horn and tail from? Eh, that's about it, I'll let those who are actually spriting masters take over here.

The horn and tail are both from Ariados. The tail is actually just one of his legs recolored and turned.

So, all but the first three are fusions, which also need work. Your re-elements are ok.

Your scratch sprites need more of an angle to them, as if you was in a battle, and the light source should be in the top right hand corner.
Now you could remember me...

Make sure that you have shading as well as highlights, that's mainly what you need to work on for scratch sprites.

Gaah.
This signature is under construction.
But dun worry.
It will most likely stay like this FOREVAH.
Because I'm nowhere near as active as I used to be.

Yeah, out of all my scratches, Tadpi and Rabira are the two best.

But there's a new scratch in town!

Celetone - Psychic/Rock Name comes from "celestial" and "stone." It's a pre-evo of Solrock and Lunetone. It evolves into Solrock when it reaches a high enough level in the daytime and Lunetone when it reaches a high enough level at night. Learns Tackle, Confusion, and Cosmic Power.

The edits are pretty simple, but...at least you're trying, and that's what counts. Now the scratches...they really need work, mainly on:
Anatomy
Line work
Size
Colour
Shading
Design

Stick to edits for now, don;t start scratches till you're amazingly good at editing, if not you're only gonna be throwing yourself in the deep end without a life ring.

The same problems are consistent in the rabbit line as well, bar the anatomy and design , which have improved, you should really be working at about a 64 x 64 to a 85 x 85 canvas (rough estimate) whereas you're working at 50 x 50 aprox.
You should be using roughly 16 colours too, and the fur should be textured, like i said kid, stick with editing for now.

well, that's not how it necessarily works for everyone. i started scratch spriting before anything else. i didn't even know what recolors or edits or revamps were and this wasn't all that long ago.

But you were naturally good when you started scratches, whereas most people aren't, I was just giving him some helpful advice, I started with heavy edits then had my first scratch done a week later, I've never done a recolour, ever.

But most people start down there, and that's cool.

As my dear friend Matty said, work on shading + anatomy the most. When I look at the customs a bit more, I see you have used a lot of the shape tools Paint has.

Don't. At least in my opinion :x It ruins the "challenge" of custom making and it doesn't look right to me.
