What if you did like in the GameBoy games and filled them with stuff like flower gardens or a small stream going out to the water body to the right?
Then it'd be kinda like the original games!
That is good thing to put in this game, but the truth is that I need more experience in mapping... XD

What about reducing the size of the window? The maps would look better. But this may cause problems if you are using the default menu, screens and Battle system. It's just an idea, though.
No, I´m sick of the small window that other games here are using, it´s the same!:\
I´m remodeling the graphics so even giving a full screen the graphics would still look good not squarey as the other games here.
PS: I tested the grass you sent, it´s to green, actually I think I should change the color of the trees to fit with the grass.

Thats because you use white as your BG color and the transparent color to fix that you will have to either edit the BG colors on all the pic to a diff color(May i suggest a grey?) or go through to every sprite and change whats white to a really light shade of grey but thats how you fix that problem.
That was fixed long ago, but thanks anyways.:)

The battle system imo should be more like the actual BS from the games as with all the menus.
I won´t use the standard BS of the GBA/DS, etc.......
I´ll use something similar to the old Final Fantasy games, it will get extremely cool.

The mixed graphics are ok I rate it a 6/10 though. its to realistic.
Get used to it, I´m tired of the cartoonish graphics of GBA and DS, I won´t change it.
That´s why there´s "reality" in the name of this project. XD

~~~~~~~~~~ EDIT ~~~~~~~~~~
I finished the event that make the hero blink, while it´s walking (or stopped), heheh it´s really cool, I think even Diamond and Pearl don´t have this feature! :)
~~~~~~~~~~ EDIT 2 ~~~~~~~~~~
I added the story line of this game in the first post, this time giving more details about it.

Why not?
I like them both.

If you want, I could beta test a game for you, and don't worry about leaks, I keep secrets.

Paused, sadly... My mom took my computer (I´m in a an house right now)
But when my grades at school become a little better I´ll restart my work on it.:P
However, even not being able to use the computer, I´m working on how the maps will look like, drawing them in every way possible, based on maps like this:

I hope it gives the project a wow factor.

Hey! It's the johto region! my favorite out of all of them!
Mine too! XD

Yeah, it's actually better than a blocky map, at least if it's a real one. If it's in a Pokétch sort of thing, I'd stick with the blocky ones, maybe arranging it a bit.
No you don´t got it!
I´remodeling the routes and cities "in game", not the poketch map, the poketch map will be the classic blocky ones.
EX:
If you look to New Bark town in the pic I posted, you´ll see that the ocean is just behind it, so in my game you´ll be able to see the ocean from new bark.

We gotta keep this thread on the first page!

So, why don't we talk about the features a bit more?

I'm not sure if you've read it, but it looks like a quick tutorial on the basics.

So, what things are you currently planning to put into it?

Sadly that tutorial doesn´t help too much, the things that I need are kind especific...

Back to the game:
Well, actually I was studying other monster-rpgs like pokémon, and other kinds of rpgs too, and I found things that I think that would be great to be introduced to a pokemon rpg.

I searched for a long time, found and played those rpgs, to me, the ones that were almost the same thing as pokemon were Telefang and Digimon.

Telefang being a surprise for being really similar to pokémon, if you don´t remeber Telefang, just try to remeber those fake Pokemon Diamond and Jade that were released before the original Gold and Silver versions for GameBoy Color:

Well their real name is Telefang, and the monsters are called "electric monsters".

I played it through emulator because it´s nearly impossible to get those games here in my country.

And I also discovered a GBA version when I was searching for "Telefang" in youtube, watch a battle to understand better what I will say next:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i43n03BFNF8

Well, if you watched you well see that they were on a 3X3 battle, but in a different way, they exchanged position to attack, not only that, some attacks have great animation, some better than those found in R/S/E/Fr/Lg, also all the monsters had different animations to attack, they were not fighting statues like in GBA pokemon games.

Not only that, going further I found that most of the monsters had 3 to 5 different types of evolutions, by different ways of training.

In this games the monsters weren´t "yours" like a domestic pet, they were free to go, and you could use them in a battle whenever you called for them on a special cell phone.
Whenever you called, they would try to get to you, yes try! Because if the were from a far place they would probably not find a way to get to you.
EX: You are in the ocean, and called a monster from a desert area, because of the distance it will take much more time to the monster arrive due to being lost and, sometimes, it will not be able to get to you.

Another interesting thing was that in these games in both GBC and GBA versions the monster you selected to be your main monster will follow you, like Pikachu did on Yellow version, of couse you could change monsters automatically using your phone, and you don´t need a computer to do that like in pokemon.

Those things i found extremely cool, and I think I could convert some os these ideas to pokemon.

When I started to make this game my main purpose was to create a pokemon RPG with a good storyline, but now I think I should change a few more things, like I said, Telefang and Digimon are the ones I´m taking inspiration from.

From Digimon I´ve decided to take:
-They use armors when they "digivolve", so let me create the Neo Armors for the final stages of the pokemon startes.

-Any pokémon will be able to held more than one item, but not same itens.

From Telefang I´ve decided to take:
-3X3 battles
-Main monster will follow you
-More animations for the battlers

And I´m still not sure if I should abandon the pokeball/catching concept of pokemon to introduce the Telefang one, it would be a drastic change and I think some people would not get used to it...
Well, it works very well with Telefang, and it´s one more thing to consider when you are making up your strategy, it´s more challenging.

And one thing that i found in every monster rpg:
They all can speak human language, except for pokemon, so I´ve also confirmed my pokedex with translator idea, it has a earphone, like a bluetoth wireless phone for cell phones, and through it you can talk with your pokemon and understand what it´s saying, and of course it will understand what you are saynig aswell.

I like it. You have your ideas together. I think you would do well with a team.
Yeah, who knows.
The main problem is that I can´t figure out a way to finish my game in RMXP or any other rpg/game maker program.
I would need smth with professional capabilities, but one that is easy to use, like RPG MAKER 2000/2003.
But when I find one that is easy to use, it doesn´t fit with pokémon graphics or the definition is poor.
And when I find one that can do smth with a good resolution, it´s too complicated to operate or don´t fit with the main objectives of the game (good animations, movies, etc). And so go on...

Anyways, I plan to learn how to make videogames (sprites, scripts, everyting) after I finish my studies. XD
So I´ll finish this game even if it takes years!;)

Back after millions of years!!!
(Not many updates, though)

And I´m still not sure if I should abandon the pokeball/catching concept of pokemon to introduce the Telefang one, it would be a drastic change and I think some people would not get used to it...
And what happened with "Gotta catch 'em all"! Seriously, this is a Pokémon game, right? You can't take the catching system off.

Probably a good idea. You should understand what your Pokémon is doing, except I don't think they should talk. You could, for example, let them have a cloud (like in comics) with a berry, for example, and that means they're hungry. That'd better than actually having Pokémon talking. It would be too strange.

Your game is going pretty good, I must say, though you still need to make up your mind about the mechanics before you continue. Anyway, it's good. Very innovative ideas, unlike most Pokémon fan games that are just like the real ones (go through 25 routes battling gym leaders, stop a stupid team, catch the main legendary, battle the E4, go to a battle tower) Really, that was starting to get boring.

Ha!
But you forgot that there are other ways to catch/tame/etc a pokemon!
In the anime, some people just become friends with them and the pokemon starts to follow the person (Ash and most of his pokemon, maybe?:cheeky:), and let´s not forget about pokemon rangers, right?

*Note: After the johto season, the "gotta catch 'em all!" died because there were too many pokemon, and the creators of pokemon started to understand that that was not the main purpose in pokemon.
Pokemon don´t have a main purpose at all! (some want to be trainers, others like them as pets, others want to become rangers, some want to study them, and so go on...........)

I don´t want they "talking" either.
I want to include a "translator headphone" (or smth like that) to the new Pokedex.
So they will not "talk" you would simply understand what they mean. The same goes for you, if you talk to them they will understand clearly.

Thanks!^^
People should try create new things for their fan games, it´s always the same! So why bother to create one?
This is what makes me desperate to finish my project: to release something different for pokemon fans to play.

Isn't that talking still? I really think this is a bad idea because you can't really translate a Pokémon's language. For example, your dog doesn't know the words "pencil" or "video game". It just has a few words like "food", because other things don't really have to do with it. How will you handle that, then?

By the way, in the anime, Pokémon could perfectly understand human language. Don't know about the games or manga, though, and I don't know if you count the anime as canon.

This is gonna sound ironic, but it's not an actual reality based game, you catch monsters in a different dimmension for lulz sake.

I don't really think it matters if the Pokemon know how to talk or not so long as the main story of the game makes some sense.
