Hey Guys and Gals!
Well, I'm kinda new at this PvP thing, with like moves that don't do damage and actually use them. (I wrote them off as crap from day 1 of pokemon blue) and now i need some help with a team. I want a team that can do both ingame E4 and battle towers for Emerald and some PvP (most likely between friends, nothing to serious). To make it difficult, I only want 3 pokemon... 3 is easier for me, and I think thats how many you do in the Towers for Emerald. I can make a rule with friends to battle 3v3, not 6v6, so its not really a problem in PvP.
For my team I want:

Newest
Gengar @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate (No Damage from Ground)
EVs: 252 Spec Attack / 252 Spd / 4 something
Modest nature (+spec attack, -attack)
- Will-o-wisp/Hypnosis/Something
- Giga Drain
- Ice Punch
- Thunderbolt

EV Speed added, I'd like more SA moves, to use the really high spec attack and stay away from attack, as the nature lowers it and i'd rather not train it with EVs. HP EVs because after a little test, it helps way more than def =P

Charizard @ ?
Trait: Blaze (Fire power increased on Low HP)
EVs: 252 Attack / 252 Spd / 4 SAtk
Naughty Nature (+attack, -spec defense)
- Flamethrower?
- Swords Dance
- Areal Ace
- Earthquake

AA for the STAB, good point. Loving Earthquake. I'd like a little less speed, as i want to use him in the game a lot, and i don't think i'll be battling PvP too much. Maybe once D/P come out, if i get a DS, but these guys could be old by then.

Milotic @ ?
Trait: Marvel Scale (Doubles Def when affected by a Statis Condition)
EVs: 44 Spec Attack / 252 Defense / 212 HP
Bold Nature (-attack, +defense))
- Surf
- Ice Beam
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

I guess i wanted to make him a special sweeper, with some staying power. I'll go Hp, it works tons better than def after my little test.

Not as new

EVs and stuff in bold... =P

Gengar Modest nature (+spec attack, -attack) 252 Spec Attack, 158 Spec Def, 100 def
Giga Drain
Ice Punch
Thunderbolt
Destiny Bond
~Good Moves, i can use destiny bond if i'm about do die, though i would prefer another move. Is there anything dark i can learn in any way? Or ghost, but thats all attack... I'd like something to help against the E4 (Dark/Ghost)
EVs to help SA, along with the Nature, also to help give him some boosted def. More in SD than def because more SA can hit him than Attack.
What should i have in for ice beam before i get to the battle place? It'll be a while for that...

Charizard (New Starter guy) (Naive (+speed, -Sp. Def)) EVs 252 Attack, 158 Spec Def, 100 Def) Attack of course, then just staying power. The speed looks to be high enough, so i'll go with more power to stick around.
Belly Drum (YES!)
Areal Ace (STAB is your freind)
Substitute (for predictions, making it safe for you to Belly Drum)
Flamethrower/Overheat (If you don't put any EVs in Sp. attack then you'll need a stronger fire attack.)

OR

NaughtyNature (+attack, -spec defense) EVs 252 Attack, 158 Spec Def, 100 Def Attack of course, Def to help him stay, Spec def for more staying and to make up for nature.
-Fire Blast/Overheat Flamethrower?
-Swords Dance
-Areal Ace or Facade... AA gets the STAB, but Facade is kinda nice, turns a bad situation to something good, but not really sure yet. Prob go AA.
-Earthquake

Went for a different nature to keep spec attack, for getting def tanks and stuff like that, also want to keep it for the fire and so i can use him more.
I'm kind of leading toward SD, easier to pull off and less risky.

Milotic (Bold (-attack, +defense)) EVs 212 Spec Attack, 198 Defense, 80 Spec Def
Surf
Ice Beam
Rest/Recover
Sleep Talk/Mirror Coat/Toxic

EVs to help his attack a little, but still give him a defense boost, and a little more Spec Def to help a little for electric or something.
Still not sure on Rest/Recover or what for the last 2 attacks, Most likely Rest/Sleep talk, but I'm not positive. Mirror Coat is kind of a guessing game, and i don't quite get how it works. If i'm faster than them, does it work? Or if they're faster? And does it stop damage to me and do 2x to them? I might do it, but I'm not sure. If i pick anything other than Sleeptalk/Rest, i'll go recover.

Thanks for all the help guys, how does that look?
I think i might go for the Swords Dance Charizard. It works a little better in game, and its easier. Who would i want to Egg with to get SD? Or where is the Tutor in Emerald?

Old

Gengar (Brave (-speed, +attack))
Shadow Ball (E4 and such)
Sludge Bomb (? Not sure.)
Thunderbolt
Psychic

Charizard (New Starter guy) (Brave (-speed, +attack))
Belly Drum (Maybe? Dunno really.)
Brick Break (Need Fighting for E4 and stuff)
Slash/Body Slam
Flamethrower

Milotic (Quiet (-speed, +spec attack))
Surf
Ice Beam
Need Another
And yet another move needed.

I'm also not really a speed fan, but i want pokemon that can do ingame (speed doesn't matter much, i'm usually higher by a few levels so my speed is higher) but i want to do some friendly PvP with friends as well, so i need a happy median. Any tips?
Thanks!

Also, whats good to train on for Defense and Special Def? Sandshrew and Skarmoray just aren't common enough for me in the Route with all the Spinda. Is there something better? SA is easy with Spinda, Def and SD are all i need apart from that really.

Uh... well, you should really bring out the best in those Pokemon... anything can work ingame and I guess E4 can be important but when you're through with that you should try to use them the way they should be used so you can be the best among your freinds. :)
Fixes in bold.

Quote:
Gengar Timid/Modest nature
Giga Drain
Ice Punch
Thunderbolt
Destiny Bond

Those are much better on Gengar. Even though they don't match its types its special attack is waaay better than its physical attack.

Charizard (New Starter guy) (Naive (+speed, -Sp. Def))
Belly Drum (YES!)
Areal Ace (STAB is your freind)
Substitute (for predictions, making it safe for you to Belly Drum)
Flamethrower/Overheat (If you don't put any EVs in Sp. attack then you'll need a stronger fire attack.)

Charizard needs speed, especally with Belly Drum. Don't neglect it.

Milotic (Bold (-attack, +defense))
Surf
Ice Beam/Toxic
Rest/Recover
Sleep Talk/Mirror Coat/Toxic/Ice Beam

Milotic can be an infamous wall. Focus on its surviving power and not so much its attack power. Rest/Sleep talk can be even better because its defense is doubled when asleep.
You may want to EV train these guys too, you didn't give us any EVs...
Speed is neccisary. Don't take away from it.

Just use SD Charizard for in-game. It's easier to set up.

Charizard @Leftovers
Adamant Nature
-Fire Blast/Overheat
-Swords Dance
-Aerial Ace/Rock Slide
-Earthquake

Oh yeah, where are good places to EV train? Spinda for Spec attack, but what about def/spec def?
Thanks

Your EVs are really screwy and you don't seem the understand the value of HP EVs. If you're trying to boost both Defense AND Sp. Defense, then put EVs into HP.

Facade is bad on anything that doesn't get Normal STAB. You'll do more damage with a STAB Flamethrower than a powered up Facade.

Milotic (Bold (-attack, +defense)) EVs 44 Spec Attack, 252 Defense, 212 HP
Surf
Ice Beam
Rest
Sleep Talk

Milotic is NOT a Sp. Sweeper. It never needs more than 44 SAtk EVs and it always needs Max Def.

Mirror Coat is kind of a guessing game, and i don't quite get how it works. If i'm faster than them, does it work?
Mirror Coat always goes last no matter how fast you are.

And does it stop damage to me and do 2x to them?
lol, what? That would be broken.
No, you take the damage, you deal 2x the damage back.

Who would i want to Egg with to get SD? Or where is the Tutor in Emerald?
Battle Frontier.

Thanks
If you have Emerald, the best place to train in Def is the Magma Hideout, where you will only encounter Torkoal, Geodude, and Graveler. The best place for Atk is fishing (Super Rod) on Route 118 where you only encounter Carvanha and Sharpedo. The best place for HP is to Surf in Petalburg City where you only encounter Marill. The best place for Spd is to Surf at Meteor Falls (past the Waterfall), where you will encounter Golbat 90% of the time.

You shouldn't be training in SDef with this team, but the best place is Route 114, where you will encounter Swablu, Lotad, and Lombre 90% of the time.

BTW - Please use the following format when posting your team for help since it makes it MUCH easier to read and help others to care about looking through it:

Poke @ Item ** Nickname
Trait: Trait
EVs: HP / Atk / Def / Spd / SAtk / SDef
Nature (+Stat, -Stat)
- Move 1
- Move 2
- Move 3
- Move 4

Hasty is actually +Spd, -Def. I think AB forgot to change that on his fix. Also, HP EVs on Gengar are a complete waste, especially only 72. A small portion in HP/Def/SDef does not keep it alive enough to bother with. Put those into Spd. Gengar MUST be fast or it is dead.

Charizard doesn't need HP EVs either. It is so crappy defensively (weak to too many good moves) that, like Gengar, those EVs are simply wasted. Put those into Spd (as it has been suggested numerous times already).

Personally, Toxic >> Ice Beam on ST Milotic.

Thanks, made the EV changes and changed the nature. I want the +spec attack, - attack, which is modest. Thanks for pointing that out.

I'd like to keep ice beam on Milotic, its just a pretty good move and i like it a ton.

The big problem now is actually getting them onto my Emerald Version, as i havn't been the E4 so i don't have the national dex, nor do i have Colloseum, but i'm looking into renting it or borrowing it or something.

If you stick with Ice Beam on Milotic, I would go with the following set on Gengar:

Gengar @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Spd / 252 SAtk
Hasty Nature (+Spd, -Def)
- Focus Punch
- Giga Drain
- Substitute
- Thunderbolt

Relying too much on Charizard is going to fail.

With no Attack those Focus Punches are going to be pitiful.

Oops! Wrong EV spread.

I see that apart from Charizard i don't have any non spec attacks, so i guess i need to do something, but I'd like to keep gengar where he is now, with mainly spec attacks, giving up his attack stat. Is there anything i can do for him that would keep maybe one more spec attack? I don't really like Focus Punch, i would have to Substitute first, then punch, then get the damage 3 turns later (from when i first sent out Gengar) but a special def tank would get me. So i guess i'll go for it, but are there any other changes i could make?

Thanks a ton for the help! (Especially with the Colosseum stuff, getting the pokemon to my game is still the bigger problem though =P)
