Hello!

I have got a crazy challenge with my friend...
We both have to mutch time in the holidays, witch starts in 3 weeks...
I drive to amerika, sightseeing... so i have to drive very mutch in a car...
So, we made a challenge, to "waste" this time...

We both resett the game pokemon fire red for the GBA,
than we play this game for 3 weeks, and at the end of this, we do a fight...
the winner of this fight is the winner of this challenge, the loser has to pay the next 3 weeks in the schoolcafeteria :D

Our rules:
1. no legendari pokemons (no zapdos, no mewto ...)
2. no beginning pokemons in the final battle... (bisaflor, glurak, turtok)
3. no cheats
4. Help on the internet is allowed.

So, here are my questions...

I want to have the best possible team of 6 pokemons...
my favorits are:

Simsala, dragoran and Garados...

metagross, is the question, is it possible to get metagross on a high level in 3 weeks ?
Do you have suggestions, for 3 pokemons i can chose for my team too?
You think, that the 3 pokemons, witch i wrote above, are okay?
What are the best members of the group:

Fire
Water
Plant

witch are NO legendaris...

thank you for your help, and sorry for my bad english ;)

Apparently you are in a country where more than one of us don't know what a "Glurak" is.

Seriously...
Where are you from... and Welcome to America (yes, a "c") when you come.

Simsala... Salamence?
Dragoran...? Hiidoran and Dragonite? What?

Maybe give us pictures or something... or just use english names for them... and real english spelled words...

Then we can help you a little bit more...

Haha, Germany right?

All of those are German Pokemon names.

Bisaflor = Venusaur
Glurak = Charizard
Turtok = Blastoise
Simsala = Alakazam
Dragoran = Dragonite

Anyways, Pokemon is really easy. You'll beat the game in less than a day and you'll have Pokemon level 70+ in less than a week.

Alakazam, Dragonite, and Gyarados are okay. What you really need is Snorlax (Relaxo) to block special attacks. Then get a Machamp (Machomei) or Heracross (Skaraborn) to beat Tyranitar (Despotar). Finally, a decent physical wall would be Weezing (Smogogo).

So your final team would be:

Simsala, Dragoran, Garados, Relaxo, Machomei OR Skaraborn, Smogogo

God, aragorn can understand him <_<

I agree with aragorn really, but an ingame sweeper like starmie is better if you dont have a way of trading

I heared, that Tyranitar is realy good, why you think, that this poke is not needed by my team?
is there an alternativ for Weezing? i dont like him realy :D
What do you mean with "to block special attacks" by relaxo ?
What do you think of metagross ?

thank you all for help :)

Tyranitar is good, but I'm not sure if he'd work well in your team. His ability causes a sand storm and I think your other pokes are weak to it.

Snorelax, (Relaxo), which is a sweet name by the way... blocks special attacks with his super high special defense + high HP. He can also have the "Thick Fat" Ability which lowers Fire and Ice damage, both special attacks, and both pretty common. Special Attacks just don't dent him really.

Weezing is on there probably for his high def, to use against physical attacks, so maybe replace him with another poke that has high def.

For Alakazam/Simsala
Nature: Timid/Modest (-attack, + speed) or (-attack, + spec attack)
Ability: Synchronize... i think.
EVs: 252 Spec attack, 126 Hp, 130 Speed maybe. Not too sure on the.
-Calm Mind
-Psychic
And now it really depends on what you have access to. If you can get elemental punches on him, use some of those.

I'm not too sure on Garaydos, maybe Body Slam, Earthquake and some others. I don't quite know what to do with him, but you want physical attacks.

Metagross is good, but you need to trade him from Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald, so tell us if you have one of those and we might be able to work him in.

So yeah, hope that helps. You'll prob want someone else to give you sets as I'm kinda noob.

I've never seen German Poke names before... pretty sweet.

First off i'm going on the presumption that using Emerald is against the rules so i'm leaving out Metagross. That also hurts Alakazam / Gengar because they lose their Elemental Punches. <*Fire Punch / *Ice Punch / *Thunder Punch>

It's a shame you can't use Charizard because i love Bellyzard + Vaporeon. Absolutely awesome combo. Huge Subs + Wish passing.

Don't sleep on ChoiceBand Aerodactyl.

Aerodactyl w/ChoiceBand
'Rock Head' : Immune to recoil damage.
<Jolly : +Spd / -Sat>
EV's: 252 Att / 252 Spd / 4 Hp
* Double Edge
* Earthquake
* Rock Slide
* Aerial Ace

He makes a great lead poke hitting whatever starts against him very hard.

I would definitely include Heracross because he crushes Tyranitar.

I also like Starmie as a special sweeper. I use <*Surf / *Thunderbolt / *Ice Beam / *Recover>.

Snorlax is a must and since we are talking old school we are talking Curselax. <*Curse / *Rest / *Body Slam or *Return / *Shadow Ball or *Earthquake>. Save him until the end and he will pose a large threat.

Good Luck and thanks for Hiedi Klum. :classic:

Actually, you can breed all three punches onto Abra through Hitmonchan (Lv26). Totally legal in FRLG.

Gengar is out of luck, although it still learns Thunderbolt and Giga Drain.

I definitely didn't know that - but that's why you are the Professor and I'm As High As WuTang Gets. <My eyes are bleeding>

You still need to trade both to get their final evolutions but that shouldn't be a big deal. Just do a quick swap with the other guy before you start the fight. That definitely opens up Alakazam's options. *Fire Punch will help against (Steel) types who will resist *Psychic. <*Thunder Punch / *Ice Punch> will give you the versatility of Bolt/Beam which i worship at the alter of but it's up to you and probably should be influenced by what you're weaks on the team may be. I still prefer Starmie but whatevs.

Hello again!

I am so happy, that here are some guys who can help me realy good...
The guys in german boards are not so competently...

a small summary:

- Alakazam (i love him and he was EVER in my team...)
- Dragonite
- Snorlax (your arguments are realy good!)

they are "in" my team now ;)

i think we should discuss about:
- Aerodactyl (a good one for my team?)
- Starmie (is he the best one for the water-representative?)
- Tyranitar (u realy think, that he is bad for my team?)
- do i need a fire-poke?
- you told me, to learn the punches with Alakazam... I thnik it doesnt makes
sense, i thought, he is only good at psy-attacks?
- Machamp (i can catch him early in the game, so i have one to level with...)
are there further suggestions ?

edit:
I forgot, that i can get metagross only by swapping...
we (me and my friend) didnt talk about swapping... but i think, it would be bad, to allow it, so he can swap a complettly team from an other game.

i think we should discuss about:
- Aerodactyl (a good one for my team?)

Aerodactyl is a solid physical attacker and a good Normal/Fighting resist, especially with the exclusion of Salamence. I would be a bit concerned with the shared Ice weakness with Dragonite, but you might be able to work around that. Either that or replace one of them with Tryanitar.

- Starmie (is he the best one for the water-representative?)

Starmie always works, but I would also have you think about Vaporeon. It can Rapid Spin. It can Baton Pass. It can also Wish. Very versatile.

- Tyranitar (u realy think, that he is bad for my team?)

No, Tyranitar is not bad for your team. You just need to make sure that you are always aware of his Sandstream Trait. A constant Sandstorm can work for you or against. The power that Tyranitar wields is definitely worth it. It is a solid Normal resist and Psychic counter, but the 4x weak to Fighting is a concern.

- do i need a fire-poke?

No. While Fire-types are able to take out physical walls very easily, their defensive liabilities to two of the most abuse type moves in the game (Water and Ground, not to mention Rock) make it more of a liability than an asset. A Poke with a good base SAtk and a Fire move can work, as your Alakazam will.

- you told me, to learn the punches with Alakazam... I thnik it doesnt makes
sense, i thought, he is only good at psy-attacks?

Alakazam is great with Psychic attacks, but its base SAtk (135) is higher than any non-Uber Poke and is only bested by Deoxys, Mewtwo, Kyogre, and Rayquaza. What that means is that ANY special attack (the elemental punches) will do pretty good damage, especially against Pokes that are weak to those types.

- Machamp (i can catch him early in the game, so i have one to level with...)
are there further suggestions ?

Machamp rapes teams, especially when you run the Rest / Sleep Talk combo, which activates its Guts Trait.

edit:
I forgot, that i can get metagross only by swapping...
we (me and my friend) didnt talk about swapping... but i think, it would be bad, to allow it, so he can swap a complettly team from an other game.
Gengar is another Poke for you to think about. It rivals Alakazam in its usefulness. It has similar base SAtk (130 instead of 135) and base Spd (110 instead of 120), but has better typing and a much better trait (Levitate) that allows it to not get destroyed by Earthquake the way Alakazam does.

Gengar @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 216 Atk / 176 Spd / 116 SAtk
Hasty Nature (+Spd, -Def)
- Focus Punch
- Giga Drain / Ice Punch
- Substitute
- Thunderbolt

okay.. here is my team:

- Alakazam
- Dragonite
- Snorlax
- Tyranitar
- Vaporeon
- Machamp

all right or do you have something agains :D ?
I am happy about every argument!

Now we have to (or i would be happy about,...) discuss about some attacks...

Alakazam:
Where can i get the punches ?
Icq, fire and elec right?
And the 4. attack ?

and for the other ones ? Ideas?

OK - If these are the 6 pokes you want here goes nothing...

Tyranitar w/Leftovers
'SandStream' : Creates sandstorm upon entering battle.
<Adament : +Att / -Sat>
* Dragon Dance
* Earthquake
* Rock Slide
* Taunt

<*Dragon Dance and sweep with *Earthquake/ *Rock Slide - *Taunt tricky types who will *Recover / *Rest / *Roar / *Stat Up>

Dragonite w/Leftovers
'Inner Focus' : Immune to Flinch.
<Brave : +Att / -Spd>
* Focus Punch
* Substitue
* Thunderbolt
* Ice Beam

<Bolt / Beam will sweep most and Sub/Punch is for Special Walls - Make sure his Att / Sat is even and give him lots of HP>

Alakazam w/Leftovers
'Syncronize' : Passes on status effects to opponent.
<Modest : +Sat / -Att>
* Calm Mind
* Psychic
* Fire Punch
* Recover / * Thunder Punch / * Knock Off / * Encore

<*Calm Mind to pump Special Attack - *Psychic / *Fire Punch will take care of everything so the last slot is up to you>

Machamp w/Leftovers
'Guts' : Attack x1.5 when it has a Status Effect.
<Adament : +Att / -Sat> or <Jolly : +Spd / -Sat>
* Cross Chop / Brick Break
* Rock Slide
* Rest
* Sleep Talk

<ReSTalk activates 'Guts' meaning he hits crazy hard while he is sleeping off damage. Totally brutal for your opponent>

Vaporeon w/Leftovers
'Water Absorb' : Gains HP when hit with (Water) move.
<Bold : +Def / -Att>
* Surf
* Baton Pass
* Wish
* Substitute / * Ice Beam / * Toxic

<Physical Wall - Remember to make this poke as slow as possible so it can take the hits and pass the *Wish onto the next poke. *Surf is the main attack. Last slot is up to you>

Snorlax w/Leftovers
'Thick Fat' : 1/2 damage from (Fire) and ( Ice)
<Careful : +Sdf / -Sat>
* Body Slam / * Return
* Earthquake / * Shadow Ball
* Curse
* Rest

<Special Wall - Standard Curselax. I prefer *Body Slam / * Shadow Ball but most prefer *Earthquake. *Curse up - *Rest off the damage and sweep>

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hopefully AragornBird and ShanecDavis will clean up these sets for you since the are the resident experts but this should be the basic direction you will be heading with these 6 pokes.

Good Luck.

I know but he picked the pokes.

I'm just trying to help him understand how he should be using them. Vaporeon should *Surf as a last resort. His main purpose will be passing *Wishes and possibly *Subs.

~LOL~

Sorry man. I didn't mean to get your hopes up. These sets are pretty standard though and the only thing they'd prolly change would be the Natures or EV's. Hopefully they will tweak it but if not your stuck with me. Syncronize is really really good too and he didn't really tweak anything so that might be a good sign.

Good Luck and if you have any questions about the strategy side don't be afraid to post them.

I'll just go back to being Chopped Liver. :knockedou
