Map Name: Amythest Valley (Pokemon: Messenger Of Peace)

Comments: This is an unfinished map, but I would like to see how I am doing so far. This is my first "valley" map, with a mountainous border. The house is a somewhat Pokemon Center/Old Lady's Rest Shop deal, and above that is a cave. Please Rate, Comment, and give me some pointers on how I can improve my mapping ^_^

Your quite a decent mapper, you've got good shape of the rocks, but some of them look abit weird.O_o
Well scince you look like you've just started hacking, well I'm impressed.
So far i rate it a 6/10.;)

It's alright. Especially for your first lake map. I like the island in the center. At first I thought it was a bunch of random tiles lol not used to the side- sloping stairs. I do think that you could maybe put some rocks and objects in the center to help make it seem less... empty? But that's just what I think.

So, overall I give it a

Well, JohnPaulJones... Exept for the ratings you've got so far, you wanted suggestions... Well, The pit and the lower of the two hills seems kinda pointless, there's tree shadowing errors, some of the ledges end strange, the small trees grow in rows (not a big deal, but still)... and... Well, This is a REALLY small thing, but you wanted to improve... Well, you've not used the correct mountain tile on some places where there's been a mountain bove another... There's supposed to be the tile that looks like two ledges on top of each other... This is to make the whole mountain flow together smoothly... Rating: 7/10 for a good valley. ^^

Game: Pokemon Fire Red

Comments: This is only my third map that I've made. I was planning to have Ho - Oh at the top and I was thinking of having the cave go down to Lugia. I didn't include it in this map, but I was thinking of putting smashable rocks in front of the staircase up to Ho - Oh and a boulder in front of the cave entrance. So once you get the required Gym badge you could go and get them. (You couldn't get them both at the same point in the game.)

Red Boxes: I was wondering if what I put in the red boxes was possible, I wanted it to look like there was a really steep drop.

Black Boxes: The player will not be able to see into this area so I didn't bother to put anything there.

Please be honest.

Well the Player might not be able to see it. But since it's a Map Rating thread, it's rated on what people see.

Well the Player might not be able to see it. But since it's a Map Rating thread, it's rated on what people see.

This map, I get what you're trying to do, but it came out wrong. It's supposed to be hard or annoying for the player to reach the top. I mean.. Thanks, I guess I forget to mention that the route to the south (down) was going to be kind of like a maze. I didn't attach it to the bottom because I haven't finished it yet. As I said in my post above, I put boulders/smashable rocks in front of the cave entrance and stairs.

Looks pretty good...
Although I think you should try to connect the Mountains on top of the base wall having it stretch all the way around the map.
Also, put trees along the base of the map so the player has to come through in one area. (AKA the path!) ;)

Oh, and the trees by the cave entrance...
They are symmetrical... Naturally trees aren't symmetrical... :|

Also that little indent near the bottom...
Experiment with that. I bet you can make that rounded out, too! :)

And that last thing I'll mention...
USE THE FORCE TO PUT THE PLAYERS IN THE GRASS!!! XD

Make that sand path curvy and shorten it then perhaps add tall grass that forces the players to fight wild Pokemon, otherwise how will they toughen up those darn Pokemon of theirs!

People are lazy make them go into that grass!

Overall a very well thought out map!
I give it an overall score of roughly 7/10
That would be an average C in letters!

You seem to be a good mapper ;) I like it but one thing: You shouldn't use so much little trees at one place... It looks unnaturally :/ However, for the hole thing 7,5/10 :D

Why hello people.

I have a map which I would like to share with you all. It was originally for a ROM Hack I was working on but it ended up getting abandoned.

The map is a sub-mountainous region located outside one of the major cities. It was originally meant to be a regular Route, but I was intending to edit so that Shaymin could be found somewhere around here later in the game.

Anyhow, it is in the attachments.

Why hello people.

I have a map which I would like to share with you all. It was originally for a ROM Hack I was working on but it ended up getting abandoned.

The map is a sub-mountainous region located outside one of the major cities. It was originally meant to be a regular Route, but I was intending to edit so that Shaymin could be found somewhere around here later in the game.

Anyhow, it is in the attachments.
Well I like the ledges. Although some of them are a bit pointless. I can't see any tile errors so that's good.

Now on to the not so good stuff, the map is a bit square over all, so try to round the edges slightly. Finally I know this route is home to Shaymin but you have overused the flowers slightly, try to spread them out more.

I'd like lots of contructive criticism on this one. ^_^ It's from Pokémon Simulacra. The blue building near the top is a police station. Here's the map.

Wow, 10/10, that map is amazing.

I have stared at it for 10 minutes and I cannot find one thing wrong or one thing that looks strange. The palettes and tiles are amazing. The placement of everything is great and it looks like an actually city's layout. Good job!

This is an amazing map. It look like a true city. The trees, the flowers, the houses is awesome. Also the shape of the city looks good.

I like the map... It's not bad! But the ledges are way too long!

It looks like an american town from the 50s :P The tiles u used looks so lovely... I didn't recognized any faults and border errors... However a great map... 9,5/10

I'm giving this a 6/10. First of all, making a route where you can get all the way to the other side without going through grass is a no-no....force the player to go through some so they can face wild pokemon. Also, you need to change the brown-ish path right after the stairs leading down from the hill--only use 1 type of path for a route and that path looks off anyway. Lastly, the ledge placement is off--don't put ledges where people can't get to them, and try to combine the two that are diagona from each other.
