At first I wasn't going to use it, but I checked the IVs of the one I had (first time EVER doing that, btw) and they came out like this:

HP: 20-21
ATK: 18-19
DEF: 20-21
Sp. ATK: 22-23
Sp. DEF: 30-31
Spd: 9-10 (wasn't expecting them to be high, anyway)

I figured that I shouldn't put these to waste, so I'm trying to figure out a good moveset for it. I was thinking of something like...

Spiritomb
Nature: Calm (+ Sp. DEF, - ATK)
EVs: 252 DEF, 252 Sp. ATK, 4 HP
Item: Leftovers
Toxic
Rest
Sleep Talk
Shadow Ball/Psychic

I am kind of leery about having Sleep Talk on a Pokemon with only one move that would be usable, but I don't want it to be vulnerable while Resting either (nobody had better suggest the Chesto Berry/Rest combo). And Rest seems to be the only healing move it can learn without breeding (and losing those IVs), so...I was also fooling around with the idea of Taunt + Sucker Punch, but its nature goes against that.

Nothing's been done yet, though, so nothing is set in stone. Ideas, anyone?

Well, first off: Spiritomb really calls for maximum HP, poor thing. Maximum SAtk, on the other hand, won't get you far since having only one attack severely limits what you can hurt without hardcore buffing. Not 100% sure about maximal defense, but meh...anyway, Will-O-Wisp is preferable to Toxic because a burn halves Atk, improving your staying power. Toxic is really more for the pokémon who have the natural bulk to sit in without aid (E.g. Milotic). Mind you, Toxic on a STalker is far from unusable. It helps against pokémon that would otherwise ditch the poisoning through Aromatherapy or Heal Bell while you rest and also gives fresh switch-ins something to think about. Anyhow...Dark Pulse beats Shadow Ball and certainly beats Psychic as a damaging move. Overall, Psychic should be avoided on non-psychic pokémon since it only gets super effective hits on two types (poison and fighting) and thus will deal inferior damage in most cases. STAB is usually the way to go if you've only got room for one damaging move as it tends to guarantee the most damage on average. In this case, Dark Pulse is the way to go; it covers essentially the same types as Ghost but has a higher base power. It will also hit normal types that can otherwise switch in and have themselves a good laugh.

Finally, I'm sort of doubting Sleep Talk's usefulness since it's usually best on bulkier pokémon. I'd say give it something to boost its SDef. Amnesia gives you a better shot at taking the hits, but Calm Mind will let you hit back.

Meh, first try at a Spiritomb. I was thinking that poison lowered attack as well for some reason...oh well. Increasing damage vs lowering ATK...Lowering ATK it is.

The only reason I listed Psychic was because of certain immunities to Shadow Ball, but on the other hand Psychic has the same problem...d'oh. I thought about Dark Pulse, but the problem with that is the fact that, with Spiritomb's low Speed, it would probably never get the flinching effect off, and that just bugs me too much. ...Dumb reason, isn't it?

And if I were to use either of those two attacks (how can it even learn Amnesia?), there's still the problem of being vulnerable while Rest is in place...sure, I could switch out, but that would negate the status increase gained already...hmm, quite a problem here. ......I'm not even completely convinced that it'll need the extra boost, given nature & IV.

To be completely honest with you, I don't know about the Amnesia thing. I've seen it suggested and I've seen it in videos so I know it can be done somehow, though. o.O Anyway, Calm Mind is probably less of a headache. As for the vulnerable while sleeping argument...think of it this way: if your opponent has its Atk halved, you have an SDef boost or two under your belt and no weaknesses. Sorry, but short of bringing in a phazer or a buffing poke, what can the opponent do in that time? Ingame, that time is also cut down to one turn because of the flute thingamajigger that wakes pokémon up. :3 Switching out isn't such a big problem, especially since you'll have worn out a good amount of your opponent's PP on the way. Rest assured, though, that SDef boost comes in handy, especially since it also boosts your damaging potential.

...Okay, then. The only problem is that being asleep has already come back to bite me (opponent switching in a sweeper and beefing up a couple times), so I'm just worried about it happening again. I'll give it a go, though.

Alright, here's what I've got down:

Spiritomb w/ Leftovers
Calm Nature
EVS: 252 HP, 252 DEF, 4 Sp.ATK
Will-O-Wisp
Rest
Calm Mind
Dark Pulse

...Okay. I'm just glad that I didn't erase Dark Pulse already.
