Hello all! After a long decisive process, I've decided to start a Challenge (seemed like a new fad, so I thought I'd join in!); a League, of sorts. A challenge for any trainer to see if they can beat the best of the best.

The Challenge will go as follows:

Five trainers, one challenger, and one prize. The League will consist of Four trainers (preliminary, could be more if requested), all top-notch and difficult to defeat, and the final trainer (the "Grand Master", in chess terms) is... me!

This can all change, of course. The challenger who is unable to complete the entire Challenge will take over the position of the League member last defeated. And if they defeat even me (Champion), then I too will be replaced. Although, I will always be around to sort of moderate the Challenge, and to make sure every challenge goes over smoothly, and also to give out the prize of completed. So if you win the entire challenge, not only will you win a prize (still preliminary, probably a rare Pokemon like Mew, depending on what I can get my hands on), but you will also take over the League as Grand Master (unless requested otherwise).

Any League member booted out can take back their position by taking the Challenge themselves, and defeating at least the person who took their position. So the League will be continually fluctuating, and I've still to iron out the exact details. Once I get the other members, we can all decide on the rules and details.

However, herein lies the problem: I need four to six more trainers to complete the League. And this is where to sign up for the first League! If you think you have what it takes, PM me with a resume of your Pokemon Battle experience: ie, team (natures and EVs could be included, though I know not all follow this), moves, and about how many battles you have had, and how many of those you've been victorious in. I will personally choose the first four members, but once again, once the League opens for business, it will always be changing.

I will post a new thread once the members are chosen with details of the challenge, a list of the League members, rules, and, of course, the Grand Prize.

So let's go! What're you waiting for?? If you’ve got what it takes... PM me already!

how do you plan to prohibit the use of hacked pokemon? i've battled nearly 50 Wifi battles so far and i can tell whether certain pokemon are hacked or not.
You can? Cause i cant <_<. How exactly do you plan to do that?

Anyway, There isnt much you can do about people hacking pokemon cause its all over the place. Obsene stats are probably the only way of being able to tell whether a pokemons abilities have been hacked or not. Outside of that I havent you cannot really tell

Ive played a good ammount of matches, And in the majority of the matches(outside of obvious stats) I have yet to be able to tell if a pokemon is hacked or not. So please enlighten me...

Well, of course, hacked Pokemon are not allowed... but since you can't really tell if one is hacked or not before the facts, we're going to have to work on trust. Which may or may not be a bad idea... but I intend to ban Legendaries, depending on what everyone else thinks, if anything they'll be banned in the final stage. And usually Legendaries are the most commonly hacked Pokes, so that may solve the problem to an extent. But if it were totally up to me, Legendaries would be banned entirely.

well it's all about knowing certain stats of pokemon and configuring attack damage. here's an example of a battle where i easily disovered that the guy's pokemon i was playing were hacked just by battling one of his pokemon:

Spoiler:
his starter was suicune and mine was an Adamant, full attack EV Scizor. i used U-Turn, attacking first, which with STAB comes out to a base power of 105. the damage to his Suicune came out to less than 1/4 of its total HP. then, i shrugged, and thought that perhaps it had full defense EVs.

i sent out my Gyarados. his Suicune used Surf and took down over half of its hp. so i though, hey, it must have a decent amount of Sp. Atk evs. so on the next turn, it outruns my Jolly, full speed EV Gyarados. its base speed is 85, sure, which is 4 more than Gyarados' base speed of 81. but to outrun a full speed Gyarados, it would need to have full speed itself. from here, i knew there was something up with the guy's suicune.

after gyarados faints, i was completely sure that it had full speed and full defense, but wasn't sure about special attack, though it had to be quite high. so i took out miltank for testing. i paralyze it with thunderwave. next turn, it uses rest, which worked perfectly, and it awakes with chesto berry. i use seismic toss and it does right around 1/4 damage. i use it again, and a little more than half HP is left on it. Suicune's max HP is 404. i just did 200 damage to his suicune, leaving more than half of its HP, so it's clear that his suicune had max HP as well.

so from battling him, i was able to find that his Suicune has max speed, max HP, max defense, and some sp attack. how does one max out 3 stats? i do not know but hacking comes to mind. i use Action Replay myself and i haven't found a code that allows you to do this, but if there is one, it's a damn shame that anyone would use it.

it's lenghthy, so i put it in spoiler tags.

i'm not saying that i'm willing to detect whether a person is using hacked pokemon for this, but i'm just suggesting that you develop an eye for the usage of hacked pokemon so that you can have a preliminary battle with the exact teams that are going to be used. i'll be willing to battle the preliminary teams to ensure that the pokemon are legitimate if you consider having that kind of a thing.

It is a shame that people would use an EV/IV code, if there even is one... coming from a guy who works fairly hard to IV breed AND EV train, I can assure you I want none of that in any challenge. I think we could set up a sort of "screening" process, especially if the prize is going to be, say, a Mew. Hell, you could even be part of the challenge itself.

Or, if you prefer, just a look at the team's stats (easily done by going into a trade with the full team, and running a quick check of them). But this is an awful lot of work for a little game like this. It's all up to you - you can be the Screening Trainer if you prefer, irreplaceable perhaps.

PS:

Once again, peeps, if you wish to be part of the First League, PM me with your team, movesets, and how good of a battler you think you are. I don't discriminate! Everyone has fair chances!

These are the positions looking to be filled:

Screening Trainer: Samson (if he so wishes)
Trainer One: OPEN
Trainer Two: OPEN
Trainer Three: OPEN
League Leader: OPEN
Grand Master: Richard Steel

i guess i can do screening both ways. for those who actually want to battle through the screening process, then that'll be fine. for others who prefer me viewing them in a trade, then that'll be an option as well. hopefully, most will decide to do the latter.

Alright, cool. So you'll be one of two members who can not be replaced - the other being me as the Host. Do you want a cool-sounding title "Preliminary Investigator", or would you settle for something like "Screener"? haha

Oh Oh oh, let me join, mwahaha, of course this time I'll be using my un-hacked team, which is the same as my hacked team, but the difference is my hacked team has full IVs and that's about it, of course Samson is so good he was able to beat my hacked team <.<! (Not fair imo)

And yeah Samson, you can go ahead and screen my poke's through a trade, because I know they aren't hacked and I have nothing to hide, although there IVs for their important stats are between 25 and 31, which I might admit, took hell of a long time.

why isn't hacking accepted, WHY!?

Okay, after much thought, I've decided to give the four ranks to people who simply ask for them. I think the League will even itself out once it's up for business. So here's the ranks so far:

* League Moderators *

Host: Richard Steel

Screener: Samson

* League Members *

First League Member: Soulinferno

Second League Member:

Third League Member: Paranoia

Fourth League Member:

League Leader:

Grand Master:

Samson, I'm tempted to include you in the League itself, not just as the Screener, seeing as I hear only good things. Perhaps you'd make a better Grand Master, and I'd make a better League Leader. It's up to you if you'd like to be on the League itself... and if you do, tomorrow we can duke it out to see who would fit as the Master, and who as the Leader.

Who else wants to be part of the League itself? That means accepting challenges no matter what, and trying to win – no matter what.

EDIT: There are not 5 positions besides Grand Master... so that is, 4 Members, 1 Leader, and 1 Master. Seems even enough to me. :-)

Paranoia has passed Screening.

ps. i take bribes XD

pps. i'm sorry, but i don't think i can actually do the battling part. i really appreciate the offer, but my timing is so off with the majority of PC, and i'd hate to falter people out of their patience. however, if in the following weeks there is a need to fill a position, then i'll be glad to.

Yeah that goes back to what i said about stats. That is the only way you can tell if something has been hacked or not. Atleast that is what i was trying to get across. Hacking stats is a negative honestly. I could careless about people hacking pokemon or the like. But stats? Yeah something isnt right about that in the slightest :V

to the guy who is running this. My suggestion would be for you to make sure that you have it listed out all of the rules/clauses/pokemon that are going to be allowed.

Oh, don't you worry, this is just the sign up thread... when I open the real Battle thread, I'll list all of that.

And I agree about hacking stats... stats can give you a leg up, but they take a back seat to actual strategy.

Alright, I would like to make a few recommendations

sleep clause
double team clause

right away :D
Hmmm... perhaps you could enlighten me as to what those clauses are. Do you mean that those techniques are banned? If so, I could do with Double Team... but Sleep is a true blue status condition, so why not keep it?

sleep clause means that its limited to one pokemon put to sleep at a time.

double team clause means that its banned. I thought that was universal knowledge....

Also can you get on aim???? I tried messaging you but it says your offline...

Okay, I'm all for the Double Team Clause... cause that move annoys me, it's cheap, and it really kinda sucks. But the Sleep Clause isn't setting well with me... but while I'm the Host, I would much prefer going with the majority vote. I would personally say nay, seeing as how all Sleeping can be blocked by Aromatherapy/Heal Bell Blissey to name one, but let's hear what others have to say. (Hey... I'm a poet, didn't even know it!)

PS: I shall get on right now! Oh, and I think my AIM requires me to have you on my friend list before you see me online... don't really know how to change it back, but what's your AIM?
