Until now I believed that IVs, or Individual Values, are chosen at random when a new Pokémon egg is born. But experimantally, in Diamond, it seemed that IVs of the parent Pokémon played role, so I want to ask whether you know if the IVs actually matter?

I wanted to hatch a Skorupi that would be both fast and have high ATTACK. I choose among about 10 Skorupis one which seemed to be the best, it had all stats OK except ATTACK and SP. ATTACK (but the speed was average about 10-15). I made him a father of other Skorupis, some of which had VERY similiar stats (all stats high but attack and sp. att.). Among about 40 Skorupis, this repeated often, but I could NEVER get speed higher than 20, and NEVER got a good ATTACK.

So I took one female Skorupi with the stats mentioned above, and bred it with Crawdaunt who was really fast (29-31). Suddenly, 2 out of 4 Pokémon were fast as well as they had high other stats.

Here comes the question if this really was a result made by chance, or if the stats of parent Pokémon do matter. Does anybody know all the breeding changes that were done in D&P?

Definetly Not I Don't Think Anyone Can Know This Or Else They Could Be Unbeatable

Dude, come on. Just because you don't know doesn't mean everyone doesn't know. And it sure as hell doesn't mean they would be un-beatable.

If They Know This They Could Create A Team With Extremely High Stats

Exactly. But if one person knows, a lot of people would know. It's almost a law of the internet. Anyone could make a team with high stats, thus being on par with every other trainer, thus evening the playing field.

It may be more of a challenge, but no one is "un-beatable."

I don't think that IVs are more influenced in D&P that it was in the prior games, all we have to do is wait until someone goes through the coding to find out what new things are put into place.

Still, it's pretty lucky with those IVs that you got.

And givemedarkrai, and extra 31 stats isn't "Extremely High Stats"

But When The Actual Battles Come Into Place They Make A Difference Just Like Whenever I Cross Breed

No one has answered Suicune's question yet. If no one knows, then I propose an experiment. For science!

I'll explain:

You have your two parents with 6 different IVs (HP, Atk, Def, Sp. Atk, Sp. Def, Spd). Your egg will hatch into a Pokémon with 3 random IVs and 3 IVs inherited from the parents. The given IVs will be in the same stat.It always be one from one of the parents and two from the other one. You can't know which one will give 1 and which will give 2. So you can breed, for example, if your father has 31 in Atk, and pray for the baby to have that 31 in its Atk. It's not a high chance but it's not impossible.

That's basically everything. I would put an example, but I'm too lazy to do it. I think you can understand this.
