Yes, but it's frustrating to do either way.

My friend tried for like 4 days straight and I think he eventually just gave up. I never heard him talk about it again.

I, myself, was doing so, but trying to get a shiny Rayquaza (same process, save infront of the pokemon and reset until it's shiny). I gave up after about a day of trying. xD

Keep soft reseting until it gives you a shiny.

I've seen it take 2 days.
I tried it for 20 minutes and I got bored ^.^

i tried that, i forgot about the game completely. oh well, at least it charged..

Quite true.

Anyway, on topic, I once had a charger for my GBA, but then my sister broke it, and now I have to use batteries, unless my dad fixes it... If I kept trying to get a shiny starter, I would waste tonnes of batteries, and after all, it could be for nothing.
