My school didn't block Wikipedia.
Would have bene bad if they did, since that's the first site everyone went to when we had to found out more on a certain subject.

Yeah, even my school in Japan used it a lot. If there was a rock solid 'pedia that covered as much as the Wikipedia, then people would love it. But the only reason that the Wikipedia has so much information is because so many people write for it.
Oh, well, the problem of the wikipedia is that some people do changes for their own interests. You will be surprised by all the changes the most important companies made.

It still sux that they blocked wikipedia, what other good sites they have blocked? oh yeah YouTube, I could understand why it's block but it's a cool site
Wikipedia is probably blocked so students can't just get easy answers off the internet. I think teachers now-a-days want students to try looking up words in dictionaries instead of the internet, seeing as the internet might not be as reliable as they think sometimes. But I don't really understand why teachers wouldn't think Wikipedia is a reliable site. You can look up just about anything and get a result in most cases.

Over here where I live, they only put a ban on Youtube and other such sites during the school day. Like in computer class if you wanted to go on Youtube, it'd show up as restricted on the computer. But after school, it works strangely enough. I think they put a timed ban or something on the site.

I had a professor in my freshman year of college that banned us from using Wikipedia as a source because it could be edited by anyone and therefore "wasn't a reliable source of information". I guess he didn't realize that it's heavily moderated and anything false or biased written in there usually gets cleaned up as soon as it's put up there.

We're talking about how it's so annoying that schools ban websites that we like.

And they even ban Wiki. 0=
=O They did? Woah... At my school, were aloud to use Wikipedia. ^^

You're so lucky~ ;-; At my school, we weren't even aloud to look up things on the internet unless the teacher monitored us when we used laptops to make sure we got the right information, but never were we allowed to use Wikipedia, Google or any other site like that. Teachers just didn't think those sites were really good sources... On Google, just about any site can pop up. If we ever were to research off Google, we had to get a little slip of paper showing us what to search and what link to click on. .___.;

Your school's seem a to take the use of Google and Wikipedia quite serious. My school will let us use Google to search for what we are looking for. They won't give us direct instructions of the sites to use a lot of the time. We get to find are own sites.

Youtube isn't even blocked.

Yeah, our school is just too strict with these internet bans. You see... the reason they don't let us use Google is that 2 years ago or so this kid at the school was in the library, researching and the librarian caught him on Google looking up "inappropriate things for a child to research". Ever since then the teachers here take it pretty seriously if anyone else wants to use Google.
