I found out Satoshi Tajiri mate is Shigeru Miyamoto the creator of Zelda, Pikmin, Mario and Donkey Kong, so it must go to him or the Pokémon franchise must go to his co-founders of Game Freak James Hanzatko and Yuusuke Santamaria if Satoshi Tajiri dies!

From a fandom side? It's not going to die for a looooooong time. In Japan, the people who were fans of Pokémon when they were little are introducing it to their children now. And that will probably continue as long as Pokémon remains entertaining for children. If for some reason I ever have children, I'll be doing the same--I love passing on my love of Pokémon to other generations, be they acquaintances or younger cousins. :p

As for Nintendo itself, even if the creator kicks the bucket, they'll probably continue. If there are people to buy into it, they will use Pokémon as a way to make money, no doubt about it. I see it being around even to a smaller extent for a loooong time to come. Just because the majority won't like it at a later date doesn't mean they won't still break even with whatever they decide to release. :\

Heh. this one's a tough one. When will the Pokemon Franchise die? Well some originally said that it would die off sometime in year 2000. but seven years later and look'it here.....

the franchise isn't dead yet? Egads!!! Its still alive. In truth i was just as sceptical over the long term survival of Pokemon as any of those naysayers out there. But it seems that Pokemon with a release of its games every few years, the anime, a movie every year, coupled with all the merchandise that's marketed each year is just pure genius.

the game itself is already highly addictive in itself. I know from experience since i've played non-stop on my copy of pearl for the last 4 months! LOL

And the fact that collecting and the game creature designs are so enduring is a testament to the creators of the franchise.
I mean look at what happened to Digimon. Those designs, now that i look back (the majority of them) are so uninspired and unmemorable....

As long as the games and anime continue to be enjoyed by millions of fans both children and other older rabid "older people" I think the franchise will survive indefinitely. sort of like Mario and his mushroom kingdom. Execept these days it seems that Pokemon is able to make more money than the old plumber of yesterday....

I think it will never die...like my youth...

but seriously I think It will die out in the next 5 years. good things don't last forever =/
In time, it may. I was just thinking about what may ultimately cause the downfall of Pokemon earlier today. I was also thinking that it'd be a good base for a fanfic.

Wow! This is a tough one. My case for "no, it won't die" is that there are so many loyal fans who will continue to play for years to come. My arguement for "yes, it will die" is remember the first 150 pokemon? We all remember the motto "gotta catch 'em all" right? If they keep creating new pokemon, the series will die. The new pokemon like Happiny are ugly, poorly designed, and unoriginal and uninspiring. That's not the only example either coughmagmortarandelectivirecough and it is rather annoying. All theses legendaries kinda ruins it. They can't keep making these new pokemon simply because they're dull and we'll never be able to "catch 'em all" anymore. They can only make so many remakes b4
pokemon becomes dull. So it's your call. I go with arguement two, but I defenately could be wrong knowing Nintendo.

I do agree with most what you said, but i dont think the 4th gen is that dull:P But the chances of pokemon dying is not very likely for a long time. But how the franchise works, the creators will have no choice but to keep making more pokemon, new regions, new stories and more legendaries, unless they stop right now, but thats not happening, you know why, MONEY!!

Nintendo is nintendo, not Sony or M$. I trust them to keep pokemon going as long as it can survive, which nobody really knows. They care quite a bit about their icons.

I'm not sure about it dieing out completely because simply dedicated fans won't just up and desert it, but its overall popularity may wain. It really does depend on what the creators of the show have up their sleeve. Will it be a 5th generation of Pokemon? Will it be another tv series? More movies? Changes for future Pokemon games?

Pokemon was a major part of my childhood and something I would hate to see die out.

if they go ahead and release some remakes of gold and silver, some of the older fans (including three of my friends) would probably buy a ds and the game just to see what the old games we spent so many hours trading and battling look like remade. What would totally be a shame if they did this would be if they made it different though. I remember being one of the coolest kids in school because I had the first level 100 lugia and Ho-oh to be on one game and ended up trading it for a "super-rare" tyranitar... good times.

but pokemon is far from dieing out, and I doubt it will in the near future

My G/S/C memories arent so pretty..I remember in R/S/E when I found a shiny sandshrew and I traded it for a charmander which now that I think of it, probably had hacked parents(Fr/LG was not out) I also remember when my friend thought he walled my mence with a jirachi (that i gave him..)I flamethrowered him to death o.0
