Did anyone else notice a lack in these games? Ok PBR first off. From playing it on my friends Wii I have noticed that all you can do is battle. Ok great, the graphics were awesome, but anything else? Even in Pokemon Stadium and Pokemon Stadium 2 you could do more stuff then just battle. Who cares if you can pick what your character looks like, thats the only advanced part of the whole game as far as im concerned. Its like today, all people care about is getting on Wi-Fi and battling.

Which leads me to Pokemon D/P. With Wi-Fi, all people do is battle and trade hacked pokemon, what has become of the Pokemon world? Everybody is looking out for themselves, and want what THEY want. Sorry to those who this does not apply, and trades real Pokemon. Also, Pokemon Diamond was fun, but after I beat it I noticed there was practically NOTHING. I mean, in Pokemon Emerald, I beat the game and there was the Battle Frontier. I barely ever even used the battle frontier, but it felt like a place to get away, and you could battle if you wanted. Now all there is, is a stupid battle tower, and "fight area" "resort area" and "survival area". They were so annoying, and to me they were pointless. Now I know what people are going to say. "Get a life, and go get some good EV trained pokemon and battle". But thats ALL they are going to say.

My point is, is that did anyone else notice that these games lack something that the old ones had? I couldnt even say what it is that they lack, but with all of these new features, and the game getting very old very quick after you beat it, is their something they lack?

Thank you for reading, and your feedback would be most appreciated.

PBR, I agree is kind of bland. All you can do is battle, I consider myself a noob to competitive battling, so I'm not very good. When they make the next one, I would like them to add mini-games just so you could play in between colleseums or something. I want them to add the Pokemon Academy or whatever too. The one from Stadium 2. I found that to be fun even though I knew everything and the battle test were fun.

As for DP, I think the 3rd installment whatever will have a battle fronteir type thing. If not, I will be really dissapointed. They should also have it so you could catch both games mascots like Emerald did.

I don't even have any plans to get PBR. I'll probably just play my friend's copy when he gets around to buying it. :\ I'm not a battling person. Whenever I pop in Pokémon Stadium 1 or 2, I play minigames because those were my favourite parts. Maybe if my friends and I are together and really bored, we'll pick Pokémon with our eyes closed and have a random battle to see who wins, but that's the extent of it. I'm not a serious battler so yeah, this generation has been disappointing to me in that respect. :\

I won't buy PBR.I prefer games like Colosseum;or something more RPG-ish.I don't battle much because I prefer to collect and trade.

Yes, Pokemon is the essence of battle, strategy, and collection. Anyone who isn't satisfied by what we have now probably isn't much of a battler anyways. If not, why are you even playing? Collection? Doesn't take that long to collect every Pokemon, so what will you do once that's done? Do you play because of the storyline? The only games with good stories were Colosseum and XD, and even those are weak compared to most mainstream RPGs such as the Final Fantasy series, so if you play Pokemon for the storylines, you seriously need a wake-up call. Like I said, the essence of Pokemon is battle, so either adapt or play something else.

I have watched and played every pokemon game and a lot of episodes since I was like 7. I know a lot about Pokemon, and I know that the essence of Pokemon isnt battling, as long as you dont want it to be. I mean, there are trainers, breeders, coordinaters, as long as you choose what you want to be, you dont have to battle all the time.

OH MY GOD! FINALLY AN INTELLIGENT THREAD I AGREE WITH!

Now that you mentioned the Battle Frontier, I've really thought about it now. Emerald was, in my opinion, (Despite the new Pokemon, new places, better graphics, faster battles and new trainer sprites) I like RSE generation way more better.
You could get into the game, and then there was the Safari Zone that extended and made better sence than the mud plop they have in D/P.

Sudowoodo was the big thing back then, the Battle Pyramid was considered the hardest frontier.... It was so much more simple and fun.

And what in the good name of gods hell is up with the Dialga/Palkia fight? In RSE, when you encounter Groudon and/or Kyogre, there's a massive Drought and/or downpour. in D/P, a bunch of funky lights go around, a few halos and rings, you fight the Team Galaxy leaders, and then take on Dialga/Palkia.

This thread has me ready to play Emerald, XD and Colloseum over and over again because that was the better generation of "Who the hell cares about Graphics? Storyline is what really matters in Pokemon games."

I still play Pokemon Red for nostolgic (spelling?) reasons, even though the game is glitched, and the graphics are "crap".

Thank you for agreeing with me and the feedback. I really dont think graphics matter that much, and believe me. If GSC and RBY wouldnt die, and If I knew they wouldnt die, I would Jump at the idea to play them. But they are just going to die, so im thinking about playing Emerald, I dont know yet...

The contests are nothing but an aesthetic feature. If they weren't, the contests would have their own standalone game. Contests are nothing but a distraction for those too unskilled to raise a team for competition, as some of the recent posts here prove.

As for Dialga and Palkia's appearance seams, that would be time/space being gradually ripped apart. The box legend is defeated or captured in order to bring its powers over their respective domain under control.

I still dont think that the entire essence of Pokemon is battling. Maybe for you, and many others but not for some people. ALL my sister likes doing all the time is contests because shes a coordinater. I mean, for Dawn and May in the Pokemon episodes, they were are main characters and all they did was contests. Just because the mainly focused on character is Ash, and he likes battling doesnt mean battling is the esscence. Of course most people beat the E4 and most people battle and train. But not everyone does, and I think we should respect that, rather you do or not.

And contests arent distractions, believe me im not a coordinater, and I dont like contests that much. They arent the main part of the game, but they certainly arent distractions. And maybe the people who like contests arent unskilled in training, maybe they took a break from training, or just simply dont like it that much. Just because people have different personalities then you and other people, doesnt mean they have to A: Battle or B: Quit Pokemon. That makes no sense. Sorry to those out there who like contests, and your not unskilled.

Don't base your opinions off the anime; it's nothing but a vehicle for the games, the TCG, and the toys and other merchandise. Besides, the coordinator episodes were filler. I've seen lots of people crank out the "taking a break from training" excuse, and if you're gonna take a break, play or do something else. No need to invest your time in an aesthetic feature such as these lame cuteness pageants.

Like I said, people have their own opinions, and nobodies is "right" or "wrong".
To some, contests ARE Pokemon. To others such as yourself, contests are a "break from training". I dont do contests that much, but I like them when I do. Alright, Ichida im sorry that I and others may disagree from your opinion, but I hope we can just forget about it and get back to the topic.
