Regretting

I sometimes wonder if by nothing else,

at least by the passage of time,

if it's possible to completely

and entirely

erase specific memories.

Painful memories,

that if you had the choice,

you'd rather have never happened.

Maybe memories of death,

betrayal,

or even memories of...

love.

In the end I always come to the same conclusion:

it's not really possible.

One will never completely forget

no matter how sharp the pain each individual memory brings.

And even though I already know the answer before I ask myself,

it's as if I gain a sense of hope,

false hope,

by considering the possibility of forgetting.

Regretting

I wrote this depressing poem a while back using my former love life as inspiration. I was down that day and very nostalgic so I just decided to write my feelings on paper. I find writing about negative things that happen to you in life help tremendously. Anyways, as I wrote I really liked what I was seeing so then I started taking it more seriously. The poem definitely turned out to be a good representation of what I was thinking and how I felt at that moment...In word form of course. Afterwards I decided to transfer it over to my computer via MS Word. If there is one thing I really like about the poem, it's that it goes full circle from knowing reality, to wishing, and back to reality again. Likewise, the title is also the ending.
