I honestly don't drool upon the bold/colored/weird username, and you might notice I don't even care what my username is in the first place. What I like and I enjoy about being a moderator are my responsibilities, my authority to clean things up within my forums and take part on the several board-improving activities and discussions, I like to support the community I like.

It is fun, of course, sometimes, the way we "hang out".

~steven
"Hang out". xDDD

Stressing me? Probably not. I don't have a super high activity area to mod, and sometimes it's more of a pain then a stress, since I have to go around and look like I'm doing SOMETHING, when in reality there's really nothing to do.

And I'm pretty familiar with pretty much everyone who posts in my section, so if I slip up or screw myself over I'm not so concerned as to how the members involved will react, but my staff superiors. xD; The thing I'm always stressed out about is getting a PM from like, Arcanine, or Sync, or Scizz, or Cowrie, or David or all those colorful-name people that's along the lines of:

"God. You suck at this. Why did you -insert modding action here-???"

^ Deathly afraid of that PM. So I'm usually like, ";A; I don't know if I should do this. Maybe I should ask first...? No, that'd make me look stupid. Maybe I should just do it and see if it works... no, but what if it doesn't work? But I can't just leave it!" <---- That's my main stress. xDDD

Deathly afraid of most of my superior staff as well. For no reason! Lulz.

  • 2. sometimes you have to deal with jerks
Dont Take Any offense please
If I was a Mod. ,I wouldn't
  • 1. Ignore snyone thst is trying to make friends with me regardless if they are trying to gain power
  • 2.I would be a nice mod *like Chi* , yet a mod. that means business like Sync

If you are a mod/admin/assistant, read below:
I was just wondering what it was like... is it fun, or just a junkload of hard work?
Where's s-mod? D< *shot* I kid. XD

What's it like? For me, it really depends on the day. It depends on if something happens and if I can deal with it or not. Some days, I just log on and don't find much to do. In that case, it's a fun day -- there's nothing hard to do. Other days, there are things to do, but it's nothing hard, so it's still okay. And on some days, I run into something I just don't know how to deal with (hey, it happens). On those days, I hate being a mod, because I'm just useless. Why should I be around if someone else can do it better?

When I was first modded, I was stressed out. I was still new, so I didn't know what to do in a lot of situations. There were a lot of times I just wanted to quit; however, I'm a wimp, so I couldn't do it. I guess that was a good thing? ;p
The longer I've stayed on the staff, the more I've learned, and the more fun it became.

I'll make a proper signature when Pokecommunity gets a proper slogan

I really wouldn't have the guts to be one. Just today I saw the spammiest two threads you would never beleive. Even though that little "Report Post" button was there...I didn't do it. I really didn't.

It makes me wonder if some of the friends I already have and really like are only friends with me because they want to be modded too. It's a horrible feeling, trust me.

I have only minimal experience with being an actual staff member at a forum. I was an S-mod at a now-defunct forum for all of one week or so before I was forced into resigning because the majority of members thought I was a fascist. Having your former friends draw comparisons between you and a entire host of dictators and despots ain't fun, kiddies. >O

That said, I'm a firm believer in the ideal that staff should be proactive, not reactive. That should be self-explanatory, though I am free to elaborate further if there are any questions.

As for what would happen if I were ever to become staff, the following should sum it up:

Congrats Jack, you're now the Hitler of DCC.
I'd be closer to being the Ho Chi Minh or Ferdinand Marcos of DCC, kthnx.
Because I sure as hell wouldn't want to be Kim Il-sung, Pol Pot, or Suharto.

I mod mostly 'cause I'm too lazy not to. If that makes sense...?

Benjamin Franklin

"Mathematics, rightly viewed, possesses not only truth, but supreme beauty – a beauty cold and austere, like that of sculpture, without appeal to any part of our weaker nature, without the gorgeous trappings of paintings or music, yet sublimely pure and capable of a stern perfection such as only the greatest art can show."

As for me, I doubt there's any chance I'll ever be a mod. I'm hardly active and not really interested anyway. But IF (gigantic jupiter sized IF here) I was, then I'd go around jumping on nOObs like they were turtles and I was Mario.

I'd really want to be a Moderator becuase I'm always keep rules in place. I have my own site in which I have my Moderator expirence. If I do become a Mod, I will try and get on at all times or most of the time. So, that's why I want to become a Mod

Cakekun, posts that have more relevance to the topic would be helpful. And no, they're not. PC Supporters are those whom have donated money and have therefore earned a coloured username.

Hmmm... I always wanted to be a moderator around here, even though it's a lot of work. I come to the forum everyday, I post everyday. -even though I go off-topic sometimes...- ^^' I mean, PC is my life. ^^ If I could moderate, I would moderate the New User/Welcome Section. I think that the moderation overthere isn't enough. I saw people posting more than once in a welcoming thread. <- And that's against the rules. If I was a moderator, I would help at 110% the new users community. Of course, I'd be happy. ~ Telling them where to go, how to do something, help them. It would be really cool doing this. ^^ So I just hope that one day, maybe, I would be able to do this job! ^^... ~

I left this community.

That's a contradiction. If people are just going "OMG, I wanna' be friends with yeeew, you wonderful colorful-username person, you!" because they think it will get them modded then they don't want to be your friends; just take advantage of you. :\ People like that are part of what makes it so hard for me to try to talk to staff members I didn't know before their promotion. It's like..I'm thinking 'does this sound too suck-upish/informal? Am I going to offend/needlessly bother this person and get a warning slapped on me?' then I try to make sure that these things don't happen and the end result...weeell. xP I just really don't want to be lumped with the leeches. Anyways, their motives seem pretty stupid to me: I'm friends with a mod and directly related to someone who's now a mod and I'm quite sure that it hasn't brought me any closer to being modded (Well, not that I've ever really tried to get modded but anyway). Seriously peoples; only try to make friends with people you really like. No-one wants to promote a suck-up, let alone have one as their mod. xP

On the bright side, at least you know they're not after your good looks. ;<
So you're basically saying: "Hey, on the bright side: at least you know you're not pretty enough to be sucked up to."? Wow, what an ego boost. xD

Anyways, on the actual topic: well, I'd probably krack down on every n00b in sight, try to right their wrongs without completely freaking them out and do the stuff I do anyway. Short of the larger PM box (Oh my grammar...do I covet all that extra space. :3) I don't really see any pressing need to become a mod. I can badger the fun insider secrets from my brother and the sections I really care about are in good hands already. (Man, that sounded suck-upish, but it's true. See what I mean? It's so hard not to sound like a complete brown-nose when complimenting a staff member. >_<) I've been toying with the idea of going for community supporter, though, seeing as how last I checked PC still needed money. ^-^

Being a mod would be a fun thing to do, I think :3 Well, I guess it also depends on what forum you're modding too. I absolutely love getting PMs, so getting reports would be fun :3 *Heck, I still even have PMs from 2005* I can't see myself bashing a n00b though. Just tell them what happened, and either just warn them or lock it. N00bs are people too! >: Except the ones that really mean to be just evil, they don't deserve any fair treatment >:< Over the time I've stayed at PC, I've seen a lot of things happen with staff, and being a upper staff means serious buisness; that would be stressful D: Otherwise I guess it would be fun? I've never thought too deeply about it ^-^; I wouldn't want it to ruin my experience at PC though. I'd still want to be a casual poster, but yet a good mod.

I wouldn't want to be part of the staff. I just cant see myself in that sort of position. I am also not respected by enough of the higher staff, though if I was I can see if I might be considered to be part of the ordeal.

To me, its really not a big deal because its way too much hard work and you have to be really devoted to do such a good job and be on most of the day...I dont post on PC enough to be that devoted. D:

If you are a mod/admin/assistant, read below:
I was just wondering what it was like... is it fun, or just a junkload of hard work?
There are many pros and cons to being a Staff member. For me, I get a nice large PM box (and I mean large.... XD), I get to see other forums most members can't see, I get to yell at people, I get a way larger avy then normal, I get to feel useful around PC and have a reason for being here other then just posting.

But I do laugh when people say "I would like to be a Mod. | I would like to be on the Higher Staff.", people who want to be a Staff member (as in ones who've never been one) knows not what they're talking about, or they just want a fancy colored name and to say "I'm higher then you!". They don't think about the work they have to do and in the right forum, the stress they have to deal with.
Lots of people think "Well Modding is easy, you click a few buttons and there it is.", not so (just because you Mod some small InvisionFree forum somewhere else doesn't mean you know what it is to be a Mod on PC.). As a Mod you're a judge for PC, you have to think "Well, is warning this member for ... really needed? The offense is not that bad, but that person does need to learn to go by the rules." and so on. There are lots of good things Mods do get, but they do get stress and they do have to use their heads a little before doing something.

For me, being a Staff Admin is a very stressful job. When it comes to the person having the most stress, or having to deal with the most crap (I guess that word is good as any), or having to be there in the middle of big big stressful things I'd say that person would have to be me. When you're Higher Staff for over 4 years, and on PC as much as me, and in the middle of things as much as me... you can't help but to think you got it worse then anyone else on PC. And if I did list out every single thing I ended up in... it'd be a long list.
Sure sometimes it is fun, and I've met so many of my close friends because we were higher Staff. And I've had lots and lots of good times with them. But none of you want to be an SA... There is just far too much stress going on at the highest level of PC. You might think "Nothing can go on up there.", yea sure.
I love being an SA, and I hate being an SA. I love the spot, the extra things that comes with being a Staff member, I love being able to talk about who's up for a Modding and talk about ways to change PC down the road. But I hate the stress, the "fights" we got, the run-ins and so on. Being an SA can be really really fun, or can be a really really big pain.

And I should note, the stress level of being a Staff goes higher and higher when you go higher and higher up the ranks. So keep that in mind the next time you say "OMG I want to be an Admin.".

If I were a moderator I'd probably do what all the other mods do, which is to try make the community better. D: Oh, and charging ma lazers at n00bs. :3 Although, it would be annoying getting those occasional PMs and IMs from other members that just want to become your friend to make them look good. x_x

If you aren't a mod/admin/assistant, read below:
What would you do if you were part of the staff?
I would ban everybody and anybody that I hate. haha

Ok, time to be serious about the question now. What was it? Oh yeah. Well if I was a mod/whatever I would most likey do what I do everyday but with more purpose. Just come on to PC and just look around to see where I can post and junk. If I see anything that needs to be taken care of then I just go in and do what needed to be done. THen I guess I might need to look into what ever PC forum I am assign to and bring down the mightly hammer of PC justice to those who wish to mess around in there. muhahaha! Still yeah. I guess being a mod/whatever would give me more purpose but I still be the same lazy self but with a purpose! haha

On a side note, it would so rock to have a large PM box because I am too lazy to clean that thing out sometimes. Also huge avatars is cool too. haha Break the limits of the avatar limit thing! YAH!

I'm a Mod at WrestleMporium, and to be honest, it's not that much different to being a regular member. We don't have many spammers there so it's not often when I have to ban someone, close a thread etc. However, I do get access to the staff room which is pretty cool, and when there is a spammer I PM them and just help out really.
