I've been a moderator at a gaming forum for three years — admin for one year — and I can't say whether it's great or bad. At first you have the job and you're all but eager to get going, but as time goes on you find yourself with so much stuff that you can't keep up. At the forum on which I'm an admin, moderators are selected through an application system, which means the staff can have as many as 120 people at any one count, so it's very difficult to keep track of everyone there.

When I was a moderator here, it was quite the opposite. I was a moderator of this forum, Other Voting Polls — and there was practically no work for me to do (and any requests to mod other boards were rejected) and whenever something came up I was either away or wasn't paying attention to it. Eventually I got frustrated and had a big fallout with the staff — which is why I've been absent for so long.

I wish I were here again, as I notice the decline in activity in the DCC has contributed to the increase in activity here.
