Day 06: Your Favorite Episode
Madoff Behind Bars
Bernie Madoff's Ponzi scheme has been a fascinating topic for me. This American Greed special is an interesting look at Bernie's life afterward, now that he's been shipped off to Butner Federal Correctional Institution. Since arriving with much fanfare from his new felonious neighbors, 'Ol Bernie tried to apply for a job handling the budget of one of the prison's operating divisions and was denied (haha) and allegedly has gotten himself into one or two brawls with other inmates (whether these claims are true are up for debate, but the mental imagery of a septuagenarian former financial broker getting into prison brawls is quite amusing).
(I really couldn't think of a Pokemon-related entry to put here, considering I haven't watched the anime in nearly a decade, and there's really nothing compelling me to start watching it again anytime soon.)
BTW, it would be totally awesome if the villainous team in Pokemon X/Y had plans that revolved around embezzlement, money laundering, and Ponzi schemes instead of the old "Catch the Legendary to Rule the World" formula. Highly unlikely, but a guy can dream, right?
