A Comeback

As much as i would like to deny it, Pokemon seems to be declining in popularity. While some stated Pokemon B/W were a sort of comeback for the franchise, it still is no where near as popular as when it first came out, which of course is understandable because all fads die out. Still, Pokemon has not fully "died out" and still maintains a large fanbase. I told my parents when i was oh somewhere around 4 or 5 i would never stop loving Pokemon and they laughed. Now, 11 years later, proved them completely wrong. I wonder if this is common and Pokemon is more popular than i think... I guess the reason i am rambling on about this is i want to know what you guys think, do you think it is possible for Pokemon to make such a comeback where shelves are stocked with everything Pokemon just like in the "good ol' days" we all love and remember. Let me know.

I think it's just you. Pokémon's still the 2nd best selling franchise (which would have gone down the drain if it wasn't popular) and I can tell you, Pokémon is still big with everyone, and this forum is one to attest to that fact.

Even if it wasn't as big anymore, so what? We (the remaining and new fans) still love it however small a group we are, and even if the things were to be harder to find, we would just look harder for them. I don't care about the size of the franchise as I do the quality.

I think that they've increased if anything. Here at PC, New members join all the time and they've only just started playing. And if i'm not correct (We will all die 0_0), We have 300,000 users on one forum. There are tonnes of forums out there dedicated to pokemon, this one alone with more than 300,000 users. Most people play but don't join forums anyway. The only fans we've lost are those that are nostalgic and can't get over it. There are still lot's of people remaining in the franchise. So I think it's just unpopular in certain area's.

See, you remember when Pokemon was popular among all your friends. Although it may not be that way for you anymore, it is for the kids that are in the target age group.

Pokemon is only getting more popular.

Yea I guess I just wanted reassurance, because for us "old timers" I feel we enjoyed Pokemon more back in Gen l and Gen ll days because our actual friends all played, or atleast that's how I feel. But I guess that's how kids are today, the ones in grade school atleast. Thanks for all the responses btw.

Each generation associates more with the region it grew up with, so even thought some of old fans like us would not really like the newer regions as much as the old ones, the newer audiences enjoy it and thus the popularity of pokemon remains almost as high as before.

I think it's more of the fact that you were actually a kid back then and, well, everything seems more grand when you're a kid~

But yeah, Pokemon definitely isn't going anywhere, nor is it decreasing in popularity. As the others said, just look at dem sales figures ^^

Yeah, Pokemon is not going anywhere soon. It is still one of the most popular franchises ever. Pikachu even has his own float at Macy's Parade. The Anime may disappear soon, but the gaming franchise itself is here to stay.
