I thought I might write a story about three companions who experienced great sorrow when their village and all that inhabited it were destroyed by an army of evil demons! I hope everyone likes it! It all happens in the fuedral age of Japan.

A New Journey, a Lost Heart

    By: Moonlight Dreams

    Chapter One
    The truth and new allies

Fire, blazing in beauty in wonder. That was always what Akiko, a young princess in her village thought. Her family was full of royals in the feudral age of Japan. She folded her her arms and sighed as she looked out towards her village in ruins. It had been hours since it happened, and yet she could not feel warmth or compassion in her heart. Akiko wore her usual pink kimono with flowers on it. Her eyes were as golden as the sun and her hair flowed into a beautiful blonde.

It was as if a spear had struck her through the heart. Her kimono was tattered and her eyes, full of tears, misery, and pain. It all happened so suddenly in her 20 year old life. First she was happily tending towards her mother's new dress and suddenly she saw it for all it's horrrors. Red flames burning through the castle. She yelled for help and called out to her family but no reply came. She took her mother's kimono, a sword and her memories of her home with her as she dashed out of her lost home.

How could this fire have started? It's as if someone lit it up or something, she thought as she slashed through the door and ran through the great hall of her home. Burnt family portraits, tables and all her treasured belonging remained destroyed by the ravenous fire. It was as if the fire could only engulf things in it's flame. No one could stop her tears as she ran, dashing past the dead bodies of her family as she reached the castle door. She took her sword, yelled and slashed the door open.

To her horror she saw her whole village being destroyed by thousands, upon thousands of hungry demons. She heard yells, screams, anger and hate in her mind. Why had it happened this way, why? **** it all, why!"she screamed aloud. She saw no survivors, only bodies of the dead and demons entering the ruined homes of her village, and her friends."Stop, please stop! What have our villagers done to you?"she said as she collasped to the floor, crying out all her feelings.

She held her sword tightly in her hand and did not notice the blood stain it's tainted blade. She ran towards a demon and slashed away at it. All her emotions had vanished. The demon cried out loud as it's head fell of it's body. She had done something, she had never wished to do, kill. Akiko could only watch in horror as the demon's head moved and bit her right in the arm. She shrieked in pain as the demon's flesh and blood drained into her body.

Akiko fainted to the ground, her eyes blank and her body rapidly changing. She could only imagine her her head as she turned into a demon, but with a human look. Akiko's hair turned pinkish, her eyes regained their golden colour, and her hands had claws, claws that could kill."Why am I here? What has happened to my body? Why do I have these emotions......."she chanted in a deep voice. She clasped her hand onto her mouth. She was still somewhat human, but not full human. It meant onto only thing. She was half.

She took down upon her sword. She almost gasped in amazement. They were two swords now! One large and like the fang the demon had bitten her with, and one like the one her family had kept as a treasure. She knew what she could call them. She would call them upon the words she would use when she finally realized who was responsible for the mass murder of her village, family and friends. Luminos and Shadoweyes. These would be fitting new names for her new swords.

Even though her could barely move in her new body, she remembered what had happened. Her village was ruined and her castle, family and her two dearest friends were all gone. All she had left of them were her memories and she feelings in her heart towards the ones she dearly loved. Her ears pricked. She heard voices, faint, but she could hear them. She grabbed Luminos and Shadoweyes and jumped into the air. Her new body provided great strength and super human abilites like jumping at great heights and speed only a demon itself could conmprehend.

There they were. In the forest clearing lying on the ground. Their bodies were bloody and Akiko could smell it. Yet, they were human. Wait, they looked very familiar. She thought for a moment and almost cried as she recongized them. They were Tari and her best friend Darien. Akiko ran towards them. She knew what she had to do. She had to help them and try to heal their wounds. Now, at last, she had companions and friends she could trust with her life by her side. She grabbed her mother's kimono. As much as she hated herself for it she tore it to a few small strips and bandaged her friend's wounds. Both Tari and Darien were bleeding and they were unconscious. If they were even able to remember Akiko, that was miracle enough for her. She was not alone anymore.

After many hours of using herbal techniches, Akiko was able to use some herbs around her to help her two village friends stay alive.
She had learned all her herbal remedies from her mother. She remembered it all like it was yesterday. A clear sky, the forest and all it's lush beauty. Her mother pickd a few herbs and showed them to Akiko."Do you see these child? These are herbs used for wounds and poison. Remember them well child, for they will be useful in the future,"Akiko's mother said. Her mother had taught her everything she knew about herbs at the age of 5, when she was more likely to remember. Akiko did not even know she would need to know any of that at the moment and hugged her mother."Mother, don't worry. I'll remeber all I have learned from you!"Akiko would say as she hugged her mother and smiled.

Akiko was so into remembering about her mother that she didn't even notice Tari wake up! Tari blinked and stared at Akiko. She gasped and tried to move, but she could not."Stay back demon!"she screamed as she kicked Akiko hard in to foot. Akiko barely flinched."Ummmm...... Tari, it's me Akiko? Do you not recongize me? "Akiko politely asked Tari as she looked right into her friend's eyes. Tari smiled. She seemed to remember the old way that Akiko always said things. But something puzzled her."Akiko, why are you a demon?"Tari asked. Akiko quickly explained all that had happened, the deaths, the castle, her family and the demon.

Tari gasped and almost cried. She knew that they and Darien were the only survivors of the village."Tari, now that it is only us, we must journey on and find new companions and a new life. So would you and Darien accompany me?"Akiko asked as Darien woke up. Both friends nodded their heads and got up. It was a new life for Akiko and her companions, they had to journey and find a new home to themselves. But yet did they know what horrible things awaited their journey.

    Whoa Thats Pretty Good!
    I Like It...
    Love,
    Ash

Its good, at the beginning though you should have done a mini prolouge to tell why the fire had occured in the first place, then get into the stroy from there. It just works a little better ^^.

The story was written pretty good, and seperated it by many paragraphs making it alot easier for the reader, and to keep interest.

I felt that it should have gone just a bit slower it just seems a bit rushed, but the story turned out good either way.

Also, if your going to have blood and whatnot, please put a rating guide eg. PG, PG13 etc. to warn ahead of time.

    Chapter Two
    Finding Wings

The three companions journey was for a month, was very unfortunate. No village even gave Akiko's "half breed looks" a second chance. It was as if no one would even bother but accept her. Akiko was almost fed up with this. Everytime she was rejected from a village alog with Tari and Darien, she would frown and shake her head. Tari was always the one to cry from all the rejections, while Darien only pondered and cursed under his breath.

Darien was the type of young man, to think of himself as perfection. He would never accept no as an answer or even as so shed a tear in his whole life. He was ignorant and very stuborn. Once in the village, Darien was being harassed by a group of men who complained that he had stolen their food stock. Darien only laughed at this remark and walked away. The village men were very mad at this and attacked Darien with all their strength.

Darien barely flinched. He punched back and stomped on the village men's feet. The fight was ended, but Darien was badly hurt. Tari would always offer to help but all Darien would say was,"I don't need any help. I must get strong,"and walk away as if he heard nothing.

Tari however was very passive and caring. She was always there when you needed her help and Akiko thought very well of her. Tari was the kindest and one of the most prettiest women you would see in the village and would always laugh and make jokes to cheer others up. She was the most caring person Akiko had known all her life. In the village, Tari was always helping with the crops and if she got more food than she needed for her family, she gave it to others who had none. Sometimes all that caring and compassion was a bad thing, but it never felt as if Tari cared about her sensitivity.

But one day, after getting yet again rejected, Akiko thought of something. She had not yet known how the fire had started and why all the demons came. Were they after something? Did they want revenge upon her village? Or did they just come for the kill? All these thoughts flooded Akiko with new despair. She had not thought of that for days, and it was like a wound in her heart that would never go away. She felt helpless, afraid, and lonely.

She had known her family all her life, and for them to be taken away from her just from a fire was unfair. Akiko, even though she had Tari and Darien by her side to cheer her up, needed a little partner, a pet. But she couldn't get a pet. She had non of the royal money she had in the castle. It had all burnt down."Tari, what do you think destroyed the village and the castle?"Akiko softly said as she fought down a tear. Tari remained silent and couldn't reply. Instead she just shrugged. She too had no answer and was in despair.

Darien saw Tari shrugging and held her hand."Don't worry Tari. Nothing is going to happen to us. As long we believe and have faith in each other, we'll find out what monsterous person destroyed our homes!"he shouted out. Tari whiped her tears away and briskly nodded. She dearly wanted to hug Darien, but was afraid her affection would only be rejected.

Dusk slowly faded away, turning into a scarlet night. The clouds were grey and looked sad to the three companions. They all knew it would soon rain and quickly got to the task of finding a good shelter for the night. But as they looked through this forest, not one tree was large enough, not one cave or helpful person insight either. The sense. It came to Akiko. She could sense something. She wasn't sure, but it smelled like a demon or danger.

"Tari, Darien, I smell danger. We'll have to all somehow find a............."Akiko said but was rudely interupted by loud thumping. Tari fell over onto Darien and almost screamed. Infront of the threesome was.......... a giant fire dragon. The dragon flared it's yellow sharp fang at the gang and grey smoke errupted from it's nostrils. The gang was about to see why you shouldn't mess with a bird.

Tari clung onto Darien and screamed as the dragon looked at her with it's blood red eye. The dragon's body was covered in scales and was as red as red could be. There was a tinge of fur on it's back."I am Soleran, the dragon of fire. You are trespassing on my territory. For that you must pay the price of a thousand tears,"the dragon said in a deep, scary voice. Akiko was a little scared.

She had no idea of what to do now. It was either run or face the price of a thousand tears. Darien frowned and got infront of Tari."Run Tari, go now. This dragon doesn't stand a chance against me"Darien said as he got out his trusty boomarang. Darien always used his boomarang when he was in trouble. It was said to have magical powers passed down from a sorcorrer long ago.

Tari smiled and pointed at the sky."Look everyone! It's a giant bird!"she cried out happily. The bird charged an energy beam in it's mouth and aimed at Soleran. Soleran flared his tail and got ready to face the upcoming attack. The bird's energy ray launched out of it's mouth and hit Soleran, destroying him. Akiko was happy. The danger was gone, but was this bird a friend or foe? It could not be decided.

The giant bird soared down towards the gang and landed near Akiko. It's wings were as silver as newly made metal, and it's eyes seemed like it could read your mind. The bird's beak was of an orange and it's other feathers were all green or yellow. It was quite the beautiful sight. But suddenly, the bird began to change. It grew smaller and it's wings were not silver, but blue. It was kinda cute without all the look of danger. Akiko knew what she would do. She could keep this bird as a pet. She remembered it's silver wings and decided to call it Wings.
