Ace Attorney 6! (Drop what you are doing.)

Spoiler:

Interesting aesthetics for the "new" country, it's taking place in. I spy with my little eye an object that is oddly similar to a magatama in that second scan.

Confirmed for Western release already though~! Except, where is my Great Ace Attorney, Capcom?! D:

I thought we already have Ace Attorney 6 in the works years ago (the one starring Phoenix Wright's ancestor in Feudal Japan)?
You're thinking of Dai Gyakuten Saiban... which was kind of a spin-off of sorts? I guess, considering it's a prequel takes place in the late 19th century and not in the near future like the mainline Ace Attorney games. Because of some differences the localization team made with the original games, (like trying to convince us Ace Attorney takes place in America), Dai Gyakuten Saiban most likely won't see an official western release.

I don't think that is really a big problem in regards to Dai Gyakuten Saiban. Aside from the first case, the game takes place exclusively in England. I mean, it's not like Phoenix Wright's lineage is all that discussed in the past games, so I'm sure the localization team can do an easy workaround if that was ever a problem.

Damn, looking at that pretty badass depiction of Phoenix in the pic, you have to wonder how he hasn't made it into Smash by now.

Speaking of badass, I'm eagerly awaiting Franziska von Karma to reappear in this entry with longer hair and an even longer whip. I'm calling it now.

I dunno about that. There's really nothing to say that the game won't come over because of that. All they really have to do is a little bit of tinkering or just make Wright part Japanese.

I agree... But I have a feeling if Capcom had planned to localize Dai Gyakuten Saiban, they would have said so already. I just have a feeling it won't see an official release and it'll just be fan-translations on the internet. Perhaps Capcom's hesitation isn't "How are we going to localize it?" but more "How are we going to sell it? I can't see why they think the western market wouldn't have an interest, especially since it has Sherlock Holmes! Capcom's really weird tho sometimes... Who knows what they're thinking.
I'm getting off-topic now.

Back on AA6, I hope the Feys (specifically Maya) make an appearance since this new country has a strong spiritual aspect to it.

You know what we really need in the Ace Attorney series? A prequel where you play as Mia Fey before she took on Phoenix. Mia IS one of my favourite characters and the parts where you play as her in AA3 were so fun.

Aside from that I'm super hyped for the game, maybe it will compensate for all the salt from Dai Gyakuten Saiban not coming outside of Japan. You don't even know how badly I want that game right now.

Yeah, which is a shame. I assume they originally did want to have Apollo be this new main character of an attorney that you play as for at least a few of the future games, but likely due to lukewarm reaction to the decisions made in the development of Apollo Justice they jumped back to what worked, and what a good number of people asked for.

It's a damn shame. They even went so far as to name the objection theme in Apollo Justice "The Start of a New Trial". They brought in a new composer to create a different feel for the game, and overall it really did feel different than Phoenix Wright as far as atmosphere went (the fact that the creator didn't work on it certainly played a part- though he didn't work on GS5, either). The ending even felt like the start of something memorable, but...well, here we are.

And poor Trucy won't get any screentime.

Phoenix is in the logo so I assume this will just be DD2.0 and we won't learn anything about all the mysteries from AA4 that went completely ignored in AA5. ~_~ I like Phoenix but I really felt like his story was finished with the initial trilogy and I'm not overly thrilled to see him come back over and over. I just kinda feel like we're done with him, you know? Apollo still has unanswered questions and now they've introduced Athena to share the spotlight as well. It's more than time for Phoenix to step back for a while.

I'm also disappointed that the confirmation that they're localizing this one kind of implies they aren't gonna bother with DGS or they would've said something by now, right? I guess I'll have to import but I don't like playing these games in JP because the localizations are so top-notch that it seriously feels like I'm missing out. :[

edit: "Capcom France rep says DaiGyakuten Saiban isn't getting localized" :(

Been seeing a couple tumblr posts how even if it won't be too hard to have Wright part Japanese, the hard part is DGS's huge theme of the relationship between Japan and Britain. There's some instances where the main characters faced racism and such, so I imagine this might be tougher to deal with.

Back on topic...As for Phoneix being the main character once more, I can understand seeing him again and again might be tiring and how some of Apollo Justice's story still left unfinished. I'm still looking forward to this though as interactions between Apollo and Athena, assuming they'll be featured too, with Maya (and maybe Mia) might be fun and perhaps one or both of them will be playable in a case or two.

Here, have a trailer:

I was a big fan of T&T's Objection theme back in the day. Same with the DD Objection theme that was a remake and its own song, as if to denote and highlight the return of Phoenix.

Now, though, it seems they're simply trying to make the Trials and Tribulations Objection theme Wright's character theme, using the original song as a base an original theme off of it. That's fine, though it's somewhat disappointing. I wouldn't mind them harking back to the days when each game had its own original Objection theme that you kind of identified with the game (and often times with its atmosphere and themes).

The country of Kurain? Welp, if Maya fails to appear for the third game in a row even with a name like that in the game, people are gonna be piiiiiiissed.

Yeah, no doubt many people will react that way if Maya doesn't appear. The developers are aware of Maya's existence, it's only a matter if she'll play a part in AA6 or not.

In other news...
