Firstly, whenever I start the game I get messages saying ADD TRAINER ______, ID_ (e.g ADD TRAINER GENTLEMAN, Hector, ID:01 - ADD TRAINER YOUNGSTER, Joey, ID:02) even though I followed the tutorial exactly on a youtube channel called Atomic Reactor, could you suggest what I might have done wrong.

Also, I want an event to happen after I've defeated a trainer, how do I do that?

    Event: @>Transfer Player:[082: Kyuchu Forest], (070, 043)
    @>Set Move Route: Player
    :$>Move Down
    :$>Move Down
    :$>Move Down
    :$>Move Down
    :$>Move Left
    @>Wait for Move's Completion
@>Text: Rocket Grunt: Let's get out of here!
    @>Set Move Route: [Trainer]
    :$>Move Up
    :$>Move Up
    :$>Move Up
    :$>Move Up
    :$>Move Up
    :$>Move Up
    :$>Move Up

Assuming all the eventing is right, I've tried everything I can think of but whenever the battle finishes everything just stays where it was. Please Help!

For Add Trainer ____, this error usually occurs when you've evented in battles vs trainers which were not previously defined in trainers.txt

Perhaps you'd like to doublecheck your eventing for all your trainer battles?

Regarding your second question, I'm not seeing your battle event's initialisation, but usually you want to set a self-switch on victory, then set up a seperate event page on the trainer event with the condition as self-switch ON, that is autorun and details the movement.

I am relatively new to RPGMXP/Essentials though, so I may be wrong.
