"Aipom and Circumstance" Episode Discussion

Here is where you can discuss the spotlight on Ash's latest Pokemon, his Aipom, in the king-for-a-day "Aipom and Circumstance".

Munchlax's mouth seemed unnaturally big...and they're already trying to hint at Aipom wanting to go in contests?

Actually, it seemed like a boring filler episode IMO. It didn't have a real plot, and just didn't seem like a favorite. But, I do agree with Ichapokemr, about how there hinting about Aipom and contests.

True enough, and the obsession...I haven't seen jealousy from one of Ash's Pokemon like that since......uh-oh.

Well, I always wanted to see a mecha Fearow and I got my wish. Although, what's with PUSA dropping the fourth wall so much? It's one thing to drop it now and then as even 4Kids did in the early seasons, but there is at least 3 references in this episodes alone. That's not even counting the fact that nearly every PUSA episode has a fourth wall joke anymore? I wish PUSA would stop or at least tone them down.

I love fourth wall jokes as much as the next guy, but this is just saturation for the sake of saturation. Beyond that, the Aipom was cute, Brock went hyper jealous over a Pokemon being with a trove of ladies (ew?), and further foreshadowing. Of all the Pokemon Ash would have, I never thought he'd have Aipom and it surprisingly works.

I need to update my review of the previous episode. I forgot something else to say.

That would be Chicorita.

I like Aipolm, watching its eyes as it began to trust Ash. And Ash stating he would stay by Aipolm's side for the entire year of the King's reign. That's a lot of maturity for someone so young.

Fourth wall is when your fictional characters openly acknowledge they're in a fictional property. Like Meowth openly saying as he feels for his nose one early episode: "I forgot -- the animators didn't give me a nose."

Ya it didn't seem like an episode you remember down the road but hey its been awhile since Ash got a new Pokémon so they had to give it an episode for it to shine even if it wasn't the best episode it could of had to shine in.
