I don't own anything. Concept for this story is found on FF.net, and thus, credit to the fella who wrote the RS vignette "I Love To Watch Her Sleep" for inspiration. AshOC. Namely, my OC.
SUMMARY: Ash watches Dianne sleep, and reflects on their supposedly impossible relationship.
She is asleep. I am awake, and watching her. What woke me up, you ask? Her snores.
But I can ignore that, since I'm already awake. The Pikachu are right beside me, my Pikachu inches away from her Lynn's arms.
It's weird, actually. We met...somewhere different...and connected almost instantly. When she had fulfilled her destiny, she had to choose.
And she chose. Me. My universe.
So, here we are. She is asleep, snoring loudly.
But, like I said, I can ignore that.
It's weird, really. Awake and guarded in a battle, she seems tough, merciless, even unfeeling at times, but catch her feeding her Pokemon or being with us, she's all smiles, laughing and teasing. When unguarded and alone with one she trusts, she is emotional, homesick, even philosophical.
Asleep, her face is serene, almost completely free of worry. At times like these, I can appreciate her.
It's weird, to tell the truth. To her, I was a fictional character on the television. To me, she was some weirdo, maybe even a stalker. That was at first. Then we fell. Headfirst, and straight into something called love.
I found that when she was small, she had developed a crush on me, but got over it quickly.
She was feisty. Even when, later on, I became a Pikachu again, she didn't scream or cry like heck. Even when her friend Sylvia died and was reincarnated into a totally new person, a Pokemon Ranger, she didn't cry a waterfall. Even when I almost followed her friend (lucky I didn't), she didn't cry (mostly).
She only saved them for night, when she was asleep, when no one watched.
Except me.
I watch her now, smiling serenely, worry free from her face. The snoring continues.
Maybe when she is awake, she will threaten to kill me. But right now, she is my angel.
At least, she is my angel when she sleeps.
I decide it's time I rest, too. But before I do, I pick up her locket.
"Ash and Dianne" is engraved on the front.
We don't have a picture yet. Someday we will. I have to wait.
I put it back where it came from and lie down. I just have to fall asleep.
Maybe one day, she'll look at me and reflect like I just did. But right now, the duty is mine. Right now, she is my angel. At least, when she sleeps.
