Honestly, I think this anime/manga should be held on the same level as, say, Death Note.
Clannad/Clannad: After Story
Go to ANN and this is the second highest rated anime there. SRSLY.

Preferably Castle in the Sky, My Neighbor Totoro and Princess Mononoke. They're on their own higher plain as far as the ones I've seen.
