Anime VS Manga

The anime skips certain important parts that the manga has.

If Rurouni Kenshin/Samurai X is not proof, then I don't know what it is.

I prefer anime over manga. I feel more engaged when I'm watching anime.

Depends on the anime and the manga, if it's Shoujo then manga but if it's Shounen then it depends. Shounen Jump is definitely manga but the other Shounens are anime for me.

It depends on a myriad of factors.

Which one came first, the Manga or Anime?
eg. Darker Than Black was an Anime first, whereas FMA was a manga first.

How closely the two follow one another.
eg. The FMA manga, and the first anime, deviated so far of course, it turned me off from watching that version...

Filler.
eg. Sometimes filler is too dang annoying. Also, filler is not canon sometimes, otherwise it's never referenced again.

Art.
eg. While the art for the Naruto Anime was fairly consistent, the art for the Manga evolved over time. NOte how Temari and Sakura looked like in the early chapters of Naruto. In this aspect, I prefer Anime.

and, Plot Development.
eg. Even though Toaru Kagaku no Railgun had an almost similar Manga and Anime, a few characters were introduced a bit too late in the Manga so the effect was kind of lost when she ran into trouble. I prefer the Anime, but I don't know which one came first. XD

I agree with that.
They did skip a good arc in the story. :/

They caught up with the Manga after the Kyoto Arc. :< (if that is wat you're refering to). And they decided to let Watsuki finish his work, and they (the anime makers) did fillers. Originally they were planning on animating the Tsuiokuhen/Jinchuu Arc (Tomoe's visible in the last ending), but they ran out of public and money.

Though the Tsuiokuhen OVA was gorgeous, and the Seisouhen OVA as , I will not deny that they should have done a more detailed adaptation of the Jinchuu Arc, and not just what they animated in the Seishouhen OVA.

Talking about Rurouni Kenshin OVA's, Tsuiokuhen is in my oppinion MUCH BETTER than the Manga. Darker, realisticer... and much more tragic (even though it is the same story) than the original paper version.

Most of the time however -If I read the manga- I kinda prefer the manga over the anime. It's actually hard to say that. I find that both the anime and manga have their glorious moments. The anime has colour, voices, music, while the manga doesn't, but it has awesome drawings, and it's as the autor intended it to be.

I can't exactly choose which I like best.
I have manga I adore (Fushigi Yuugi Genbu Kaiden), just as I have Anime (Saiunkoku Monogatari).

I prefer manga over anime.
Mainly because when animes get dubbed, it can make my ears bleed because of it's level of suck. Thus making me not want to watch it.

Or, in the case of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, the only reason why I don't watch the anime is because it's too silly. I know the manga had a lot of comic relief, but it was funny. Not slapstick crap that clashes with the show. I'M NOT SAYING THE SHOW'S BAD, just the amount of "LOL FUN TIEM LETZ KILL A HOMONKOLUS. LOL ITZ DED FUN TIEMZ AGEN" gets really old ._.;

THE MUSIC FROM IT IS AMAZING, HOWEVER |D

I would say anime if Soul Eater wasn't created. lol.Of course everyone likes to see their fights seen animated however; the idea of things they rush things and forget really important parts.

Spoiler:

After a small rant. I do believe manga is better generally.

There is more good manga out there than good anime. Of course there is also more bad manga because there is just more manga in general, but at least you get a larger number of choices. I like anime, but if one day we were stuck with only manga or only anime I'd choose manga.

The manga version came first. I know some people that talked about the difference between the manga and anime version of that show.

As for me, it depends. Anime I like the art, music, fights, etc., which sometimes gets me engaged in watching the anime. However, sometimes anime do skip some important things from manga or put some fillers. Manga the plots are usually faster and better than the way anime portrayed it and character development is better shown, but sometimes I might get lost if the drawing isn't the best.

One other thing is sometimes I might prefer one thing from the anime than from the manga and vice versa. For instance, for Black Cat I prefer Train's personality in the manga, but I prefer Durham (one of the antagonists in the manga) in the anime because I thought the anime expanded his character more. Onto Vampire Knight, I like how in the last episode of the first season Maria and Zero's brother (forgot his name :x) is expanded upon. Also, like how the ending of that episode is put sooner than when that scene was put in manga. However, when Zero and Yuri parted ways, I prefer the manga version as Yuri's reaction and feelings are more realistic than in the manga.

So, pretty much I'm not going over the anime vs. manga route. Instead, I look at both and see which elements of them I like better over the other.

I say manga for the sole reason that anime has tons of fillers, and that they skip certain parts, and usually arent as detailed. Sure I like seeing it animated but I understand the story better through manga

I like manga because it eats less of my broadband than anime does. Except when it involves heavy action scenes, because those don't usually translate well to manga form, especially when there are mecha involved (like Code Geass). Because manga is monochrome and limited to panels, it's very hard to make out what's happening with three mecha on the page.

Manga usually, since it's often the original version of the story, but I don't like the onomatopoeia. The Japanese ones generally fit into the artwork very nicely but really if someone is for instance firing off a gun it's redundant.

It really depends. The majority of anime I watch are of the 13 episode variety so filler isn't an issue. In most instances, i usually end up watching the anime before buying the manga, if I buy the manga at all. That was the case for To Heart and Kimikiss, and in both cases the two are so different you really can't compare them I enjoyed both. On a related note, watching the excellent Hitohira anime series has got me wanting to pick up the manga; shame I'm low on cash :/

I do prefer watching the anime, but manga is something I can read on the bus, or in the car. So it's really a toss up for me.
