Okay, so Pokémon wasn't in my childhood, like it was for most people. It was just something that was there, you know?

Anyway, I only began watching the show last year, simply to see what the hype was about. I liked it and so I de cided to start playing Pokémon Gold on an emulator.

So yes I am a real noob. I have learned a lot but still have a lot to learn.

    Am I alone here?

I've been a fan for a few years but only casually. Bow I but games, anime, manga and other merch, even playing on emu. So I guess I'm technically new too, since I wasn't that into it before. :)

Also I noticed your sig says you call it a cartoon. I did 't even realize it was an anime until last year, and I still call it a cartoon depending on the circumstance.(like my brothers don't know what an anime is, but they do know cartoons).

Any shows that runs for 20 years lives on always finding new audience. So no, likely you are not alone.
I started to watch it too only recently.

I've been on the Pokemon bandwagon since the very early days, so while I can't directly say I'm with you, we were all Pokemon newbies at some point, too!

And I've seen plenty of people on here throughout the years who had just gotten into the series (either through the games, anime, TCG, etc.), so you're definitely not alone in that regard.

I'm not "new" per say, I just recently caught up to the new generations of pokemon after BW but even BW pokemon are still a blur to me so you're not alone, there is a lot to catch up on though for new comers but it is interesting to watch/play & will of course, catch your attention.

Heh, I've been into Pokemon ever since I was a baby, I grew up with it. It's been a long time since I was new so I can't even remember when I was. But I was one at some point, fourteen years ago.

Nope, i've been with the series since the beginning, at least the games. I was with the TCG for a tiny bit, and the anime for a while but I wasn't with the former long and the latter eventually dulled out to me.

The way i describe myself as a "fan" of our beloved series/franchise is one of the typical 90s people who grew up with good ol Gen 1 and Gen 2 with the classic gameboy and the gameboy-color as well as the anime, but stopped from there to take on other interests. Then i realized that one fateful night were I felt uneasy due to a lot of things, I decided to download VisualBoyAdvance and try playing some Megaman Zero until i remembered what was the point of me getting a gameboy emulator in the first place, Pokemon games. From there, re-started my love for the series by trying out Gen 3 with Ruby as the game that re-started it all. Now I basically manage pokemon and league of legends in my spare time, and the pokemon related stuff i read about are mechanics, glitches in the older generations, news, rumors, competitive play, and of course fan-made content such as romhacks, full fanmade games with Pokemon essentials and WinRPGMakerXP, and everything in-between, including competitive related stuff such as EV Training, IV Breeding, and all of those good things. Story of my life.

Yep, I'm just a newcomer as well~ I only got into Pokemon around a year ago too; it was just on a whim after watching some advertisements for Pokemon X and Y. I confess I'm sometimes envious of people who've grown up with it. Having played all the games now, I can see how much fun these would've been as a kid.

I got into Pokemon back in 1999, so this is a veteran over here. I didn't actually start playing the games until 2003 (Ruby & Sapphire was my first game) but I have been a dedicated casual player and regular anime watcher since then and I have no plans to quit at this stage.
