Earthquakes in California. Hurricanes along the coast. Diseases like cancer and HIV. Killers and sex offenders everywhere. Are we ever safe?

This isn't meant to scare anyone, but life is fragile. 1 out of 6 people develop cancer sometime in their lifetime. That's scary. A grandmother that rapes her granddaughter. That's scary. 89% of killers are people you know, hurricanes kill thousands along the coast every year, and earthquakes that sometimes give no warning to California. That's really scary.

No cure for cancer. No cure for HIV. No warning when criminals might strike. That's life.

Yes, very true. Life is unpredictable, but we don't have to go at it alone. God is the ultimate comforter, and He is able to help us through vunerable situations in our life. Christians don't have to fear death, because death is the beginning of life.

I could turn this into a religious debate, but I have other things to do right now. Maybe later.

I'm so happy that I live in New York where the San Andreas Fault isn't located there. Thats why there is so many Earthquakes around there and its all because of that Fault.

Wow! I never thought about it like that! That makes me feel much safer.

    Sarcasm?

Word has it that in about 2036, the fault is going to split open or whatever it is that faults do. Predicted by sceintists and kept from the public for the sake of their own sanity.

Word also has it that a giant asteroid is going to crash into the earth, that bird flu will kill us all, that a deadly nuclear war will break out, that a mega tsunami will strike, that a super volcano will explode and cause a cataclysmic effect on life... what have you.

People are so susceptible to fear... the best thing to do is just enjoy the life you have now. The future is unpredictable, so don't try to figure it out. Just take things as they come.

Don't be afraid. It will only "make us afraid to go out at night, afraid of each other, so that we lock ourselves in our homes and they get to suspend our rights one by one." ~Bill Hicks

To be honest, we've always been in this much threat. The only difference is, you hear about it more often, especially with global 24 hour news and so on. Wars, murders, paedophiles, they've all gone on, it's only now we hear about it almost every day, where as before things had gone on but were either unreported or people didn't believe you.

I think as more people are becoming more civilised and there is less poverty in the world, crime is starting to go down, however the media perception is things are getting worse, only because they are reported more often than they used to be.

So no, we aren't in any greater threat, we just hear about it more.

    That's my coupla coins.

I don't worry about disaster theories all that much. Life's not worth living if you can't live it as best that you've got it. It is scary, to me, how fragile life is, but has that thought ever made you think of cherishing it more?

Eh, I should take my own advice. XD; But it's not really something that you should worry about. Let the scientists collect their statistics -- there's really nothing we can do to stop natural disasters.

Yes, we never know who's around or who's watching.

Sex offenders are everywhere. My cousin was called by one once when she was younger. Her family was pissed off at her.
And a member of my relatives was molested.

And all these Hurricanes are coming because of us.

I don't worry about these things because then I can't enjoy life. I just try to be as safe as possible and not do stupid things.

*Sigh* It disgusts me that a grandmother actually does that. Its stupidity and wrong. People like them deserve no life.

To add to all this, people always state that "life sucks" and I couldn't agree more with that statement.

I'll answer your question, life is never safe. You can't ever trust anyone around you, their all enemies. Even the person you least expected to hurt you, is that person. What's worse is, you sometimes can't even trust a family member. Not all of them are like that, but in the world, there are actual people who are.

I don't know when there will be a cure for cancer but there was always a solution. Eventually there will be a cure. The world has come this far with scientists producing medicine to cure any sickness. So will this disease be the end? Will there never be a cure to stop it? Only time knows.

I bet you're the life and soul of parties.

The world is a dangerous place. You can never be certain of what will happen. But, at the same time, it is only a tiny minority of people who are actually rapists, paedophiles, killers etc. There's no point suspecting everyone of being evil, because 99.9% of them aren't.

As for natural disasters, that's life. Don't like it? Move to somewhere where they're less likely to occur.

There are over half a million registered sex offenders in the US. Is that 0.1%? I don't think so. Though I agree that killers just don't come up to a random person's house, break open the door, and start shooting spree anymore. Law enforcement has kept the real criminals in jail for life and lethal injection for those that he just gone way to far.

Then you got Iran, who's enriching uranium and threatening countries that try got missles that can reach Europe. That's a thing to worry about! The government couldn't stop the 9/11 attacks, so they can always strike again without us knowing. Those are some criminals to be worrying about right now.

There are more than 6billion people in the world, and counting. So, yes, half a million is a very small percentage.

And I haven't heard of Iran threatening anybody with missiles. Just because they have the power, doesn't mean they'll actually use it.

Oh, I'm not meaning everyone are like this. I'm just saying that they are around you, and they can be the one's who you least expected. If that made it sound too much, then I'm sorry, I didn't mean that way.

You're right about HIV. I did a science report on it and found that out.

    HIV is horrible...And AIDs...even worse.

Speaking of AIDs and whatnot, have you guys seen the movie/musical Rent? I recommend it to you. It's pretty good.
