One of the biggest phobia's that plagues people is a fear of heights. What I'm curious about is how here at PC are part of that group.

I used to be deathly affraid of heights at one point myself. I would be terrfied to go into building where I had to be on a high floor, rollercoasters, etc. I eventually grew out of it or just conquered my fear of it.

    So how about you?

Not really, I used to be afraid of roller coasters for their height but now I love them. I hear fear of heights is more frequent in short people, but I don't know why.

I love heights. It's amazing being a hundred feet above the air, knowing that if you fall, you die. Iono, I guess it just gets me a rush.

No, man... I love heights. <3 The higher up, the more thrilling, the better. Roller coasters and such are my life, so, no, I'm not afraid of heights at all. In fact, I go out of my way to see how high up I am, just because it gets me all happy. :D

I have no problem with heights. I love rollercoasters, flying, and being up on the roof of skyscrapers (when I get the chance). If I ever lived in a city I'd prefer to live on the top floor of a building than anywhere else.

I don't really mind heights, per se, but I'd hate to be on the edge of something really high up and looking down. Especially if there were no rail or anything. Eeg.

Rollercoasters are just no, but that's mainly because I don't like going fast and upside down with just a thin strap/bar holding me in my seat, and I have paranoid thoughts of them going flying off the tracks and other equally terrible things. :o

I love heights <3 I love huge roller coasters, being on top of skyscrapers, and of course, those big blow up slides \o/

I am literally quite confused in that regard. While there are few things I enjoy more than roller coasters and airplanes, I get a very uneasy feeling whenever I'm on any kind of balcony. I guess it's just the knowledge that both coasters and planes are incredibly safe, whereas being clumsy and tripping off a ledge is a genuine thing to be worried about.

I was afraid of heights for quite a while, but luckily something happened to change that. Me and some friends were playing soccer when one of the guys kicked the ball up to the school roof. Normally, we would have forgotten about it, but the ball was apparently signed by some soccer player, so my friend was adamant about getting it back. I don't remember how it was decided, but I was the one selected to go up on the roof. I was pretty nervous, but not scared enough to confess to my friends that I was afraid of heights. So I went up to the roof and got the ball back. Unfortunately, word spread that I could get stuff off the roof, and pretty soon I was the school's official roof climber. I was scared the first few times, but as I went up more and more, I gradually realized that heights were nothing to be afraid of. And present day, I don't feel a single tremor when I climb something high.

Just a little anecdote, but I guess the lesson is "confront your fears and you will vanquish them," or something like that.

Not at all, I love heights. I'm actually like, the exact opposite. I'm afraid of being underground, in caves or whatever. I blame all the earthquake horror movies I saw as a youngin XD

I freak out at heights. XD But I always think of worst case scenario, so I always think that wherever I am, I'm going to fall and die. So if I climb to the top of a building and look out across the city, my first thought is that somehow someway, I'm going to fall out the window.

Heck, I don't even climb a ladder. But going out into the pitch dark of night with no lights and no one around? Fine.

It depends on the situation. Though usually, I'm not afraid of heights. But I hate falling from high places.

I'm only -afraid- if I'm in danger of falling. Like- I hate climbing ladders, but I wouldn't mind being on top floor of a huge building, and I don't think being on airplane would bother me too much, since they're relatively safe. XD

Rollercoasters kinda scare me, but that's mostly just the movement, not the high-ness part.

I get really nervous when I'm up high. I dont know why but heights make me nervous. If I'm in a building or some other hight structure I'm fine as long as I cant look down and see below me straight to the ground. D:
I dont know how i'd be on a plane because I've never flown before...

It depends on how secure I am. Inside of something, send me to space. But the less securing I have, the more nervous I get. Though I do LOVE rollercoasters, I just don't feel the best the first time on any specific one.

I'm not terrified of heights, but I don't really like them.

I couldn't stand at the edge of a tall cliff for fear of falling, but if there was a barrier I'd be ok. As long as the platform is sturdy, and there's a barrier, even a flimsy one, I don't mind any height really. It's just when I'm exposed to it that I get weak at the knees and want to start crawling on the floor to ensure I won't fall.

When I'm climbing trees I can gradually get more confident with heights over time, but it takes a good few weeks practice. I'll know that I could get higher in the tree, but the height stops me sometimes. I get a bit wobbly when I'm nervous about the height and I just want to get down. When I get higher than the point I can jump down (bout 2 metres) then I start to get really edgy.
