Avatar: The Kansaku Tournament [T]

    Nearly two hundred years have passed since the United Republic of Nations was founded by avatar Aang and fire lord Zuko.(Since then the population of air nomads has swelled to about a hundred and have reclaimed the air temples although many of those who moved into the northern temple over the war still live their too. Also, both male and female airbenders live at each temple now.) Korra defeated the equalists but gave non-benders equality with benders worldwide. Afterwards, the world began settling back into peace. Korra passed, giving way to the next avatar.


    Plot
    It was about at this time that a tournament was created named the Kensaku Tournament. The rules of the tournament are as followed.

    The tournament is similar to an elaborate scavenger hunt. Beginning with one hint, the competitors will search the nations to uncover the key pieces to progress to the second round. As their are a limited number of each key piece, competitors may fight for the piece. At times the judges of the competitions may aide a competitor or add other rules. The first competitors to assemble the full key will automatically be able to compete in the following year, as well as receive a small fortune as a winning.


    However...
    Although the world has been at peace since the equalists were defeated, from their remains another antagonistic group is beginning to form. Also bent on ruling the world, these villains want to create a world where everyone can learn bending. Specifically all forms of bending. Thus, the avatar would be unnecessary and all would truly be equal. The group is names the Federation of the Final Balance (FFB). Group members are mostly non-benders who posses new weaponry and fighting techniques. Each individual is trained to take on a certain bender or fighting style, and are taught accordingly. Their weapons are able to counter bending attacks much like waterbending techniques. Their organization is run by a comity of people who's identities and fighting styles are still unknown.

    I enjoy winning as much as the next guy, but be fair about it. If you are being unfair in this, it will lower your chances of winning. If you're a good sport, you have a better chance. I'm not saying this to be mean, but if we're unfair, this RP will be no fun, and no one wants that.
    A large part of how well you do in this RP is based on your writing. This is to make sure that this RP is not everyone posting only three lines per post. If you do a good job in your writing, than you will be more likely to come across lucky things like money and you may even get a tip as to where to look for something. I will send all this information via a PM that may be different from one person to the next. If you find a key part, I will act as the person giving it to you also by a PM. The PM will most likely be a description of the key-holder's point of view as well as a hint about where to look next. Please don't discus this information publicly, cheating eliminated the fun. I'm looking forward to seeing the characters participating in this tournament, good luck!

    Hello again Here's my SU if it helps any to pump you guys into joining this RP. Here it is:

    Name: Lin Qiao (dexterity)
    Age: 16
    Gender: Female
    Nation/area: Earth Kingdom; Kyoshi Village
    Fighting style: Chi Blocking; She uses a three-foot-long chain and a waterbending-like techniques as her offenses.

    Personality: Lin has a rather complicated personality. Most of the time, she is a cheery, lighthearted, content girl. She can be naive and friendly. However, there are many instances where this is not true about her. In a fight, she is sly, dexterous, and merciless. She will not let the fact that she is not a bender or a girl stand between her and victory. She is also short tempered. If she is lectured or taunted, she is easily annoyed. She hates being mocked or treated as insignificant. She tends to be blinded by anger and overreact. Fueled by rage, Lin tends to think things through less clearly. This can greatly affect her fighting. As easily as she can make friends, she can make enemies.
    History: Lin was born in Kyoshi village to a middle class family. Even though they were not very rich, she was very content there. As she was a non-bender, she joined the Kyoshi warriors at age 10. She didn't feel like it was right for her, so she decided to quit the group. However, she did want to learn a fighting technique, and seeing her dismay, her mother taught her how to chi block. Lin was a natural at this. By her 13th birthday, she already showed impressive potential at the technique.
    Unfortunately, not even a year after this, Lin's father passed away. Without his financial support, Lin and her mother could not afford their house anymore. Hearing he news, an old friend of Lin's mom hospitably invited them to live with her in Republic City. They hastily accepted her offer and promptly moved to the large apartment in uptown Republic City. They helped the family with their flower business. they were waterbenders, and could get the flowers to bloom with amazing colors. Lin always got frustrated since she never had any luck with flora. However, she was intrigued by waterbending and got them to teach her the methods of it. She incorporated these techniques into her chi blocking. Since then, she has continued her learning of chi blocking and flower growing. When she heard about this, she eagerly wanted to join, however, her mother said that Lin was too young. Now, at the age of 16, she will participate in this mind-awing tournament.
    Misc.: Has a trained pet Gorilla-goat named Gorra for company and transportation.

    You sure it's a good idea to start a Korra RP so early in the show? I mean, we're still learning about the world and how it's changed overtime, as well as how bending has changed, new organizations, the life of Aang, etc. I mean, I have nothing against it, and if you're truly adamant about this, then can I reserve a spot?
     
    Seeing as the other avatar RP seems to have died before getting an IC thread, can I reserve a spot?
     
    @machomuu - Firstly, it is not a Korra RP. It takes place after Korra passes away. It is not based on the avatar, just the avatar world. Sorry if that was unclear. But also, you bring up a point: The technology in the avatar world has expanded since Korra's time. Now most urban cities are similar to republic city, and towns have technology as well. The routes on the map are mostly paved if they run from or to cities. All of them are commonly traveled routes. (there are many but all vague routes from the great divide through the mountains to the east of it. It usually takes a guide to make it through there.) And you are reservered. :)

    I see, so you're taking what you know and, since your placing this after both Aang and Korra, you have almost complete creative control. Well played, I like it. I'll get started on my SU

    This is all I have so far.

    Name: Tyrant Storm
    Age: 17
    Gender: Male
    Nation/area: Earth Kingdom; Republic City
    Fighting style: Firebending; He has experience in hand-to-hand combat along with being an expert swordsman. He tries to mix in his firebending with his sword usage.
    Appearance: (A paragraph or less with a pic.)
    Personality: Tyrant is a slightly nicer firebender than most on usual occasions. He perfers spending time alone to focus on honing his firebending skills. Tyrant has a hatred against Earthbenders due to what happened to his family, and in a fight against both Waterbenders and Earthbenders at the same time, he'd go after the Earthbenders first. In battle, Tyrant is a ruthless enemy, taking advantage of an opponent's weak points and using his Firebending to hit his foe's open spots. Tyrant enjoys a good fight, but he normally considers most people inferior in strength compared to hmself.

    Writing my SU now, still not very good at names I may submit my SU and fill in the name later. Any suggestions for a name for an armless (still possible changes to this) earthbender?
     
    Name: Dolan Gendo

    Age: 16

    Gender: Male

    Nation/area: Temporarily a nomad, initially passing through Republic City.

    Fighting style: Dolan's an Air Bender and blends Kung-Fu and Jeet Kune Do, opting for a fast fighting style. In contrast, he bends similarly to a Water Bender rather than a traditional Air Bender. While he moves quickly and smoothly to support the katana he uses as well as his fighting styles, he often goes through the motions of a Water Bender despite the fact that he's an Air Bender.

    Appearance: Dolan has short dark brown hair flowing to the back of his head. His skin is somewhat dark brown, similar to that of one of the Water Tribe. He wears a black shirt with an insignia on the back that shows the original Air and Water tribe symbols. His pants are similar to brown jeans, but are made out of different material. He doesn't wear shoes, though he keeps a spare pair of Water Tribe boots and sandals on him at all times. He wears brown wristbands, the left and right respectively representing his already obvious pride for the aforementioned tribes, with the right showing the original Air Nomad symbol and the left showing the original Water Tribe symbol.

    Personality: A prideful young man who puts his heritage above all else. Dolan is energetic and sociable and loves a challenge. However, he's also not very prone to fighting on sight, and will generally only use Air Bending if he's forced to fight, he keeps his fists. In most cases, Dolan only gets violent and uses the aforementioned if the possibility for him (or someone else) to get hurt exists. He's bold but calculating, he has to be to effectively be an Air Bender. He has a habit of closing his eyes and grabbing onto Abu's whistle when he's indecisive about something, as if to ask his grandfather about what he should do. With that said, Dolan isn't that independent, he's never really been that far from home, and because of this he is a little timid when it comes to being in this new world so far away from home.

    History: Dolan was born in the Water Tribe by a Water Bender (mother named Neela) and a Non-Bender (father named Toran). He was born an Air Bender as he gained the trait from his grandfather (an Air Bender) on his mother's side. His grandfather, named Ginta, was an Air Bending nomad. He would travel the world on his Flying Bison, Abu. After years of travel, he met a girl in Akara Village, a Water Bender named Farah. They fell in love, got married, and had a child. Like her mother, Neela was a Water Bender. Though Neela was taught by her mother, she trained with her father. When Neela married Toran and gave birth to Dolan, initially she did not train him. Dolan spent a lot of time with his grandfather, and loved him dearly. When he died, he gave him Abu's Whistle, despite the fact that Abu died a few years earlier (when Dolan was 3, so he still remembered Abu).

    Months later, Dolan decided that he wanted his mother to train him, and because of how well Water Bending translated into a unique form of Air Bending, she agreed. Neela was a pro-bending player back in her 20s to 30s, and though she never one any championships, she was a definite competitor. When Dolan turned 16 he heard about FFB on a radio broadcast. He wasn't sure whether these guys were "good" or not, but their cause certainly seemed to be, and as long as they weren't run by someone as extreme as Amon then they might have been a cause worth supporting, maybe even worth joining. He later read in a newspaper an article about the "Kansaku Tournament", surely this would grab the attention of FFB, especially if he made himself known. Thus, Dolan headed out for Republic city to enter the Tournament.

    Misc.: He carries around a broken Bison Whistle on his neck as a memento of his grandfather. He also carries around Water and Air Scrolls for practice and to learn new techniques. He dabbles in chi blocking, though he's not that good at it and, as of now, he can't actually block chi.

    @machomuu - pending: the personality is a tad short, a sentence or two would be better. Also, is the name Doran or Korin? Fix those things and you're accepted. :)
     
    Machomuu - accepted! Interesting heritage. (In personality I think you meant new world instead of knew world XD)

    @Everyone who is interested in this: I added a new section to the main post (the YOU section). Please read it, it may give you some good ideas. Also, please note you now can have a character in the Federation of the Final Balance. There is a separate SU for that though.

    I just need to write my history and come up with a name I like. I am reluctant to post half complete characters and I have an exam on monday. I apologise for any problems this causes but I will have my character in by the end of monday.
