"Bad to the Bone" Episode Discussion

I remember this episode. Apparantly Otoshi was robbed of his badges by Team Rocket, and Jessie backstabs her comrades so she could enter the league, and then she decides to steal even more badges, and nearly succeeded in stealing from a second trainer before James and Meowth intervened.

This episode did also give some hints as to what other pokemon the Gym Leaders had (namely Koga and Sabrina). In the flashbacks accompanying the badges, Koga and Sabrina apparantly had a Scyther and a Hitmonlee, respectively. I tried to implement it on Bulbapedia multiple times, but those jerks wouldn't let me implement them, apparantly saying that they "were mistakes" and "weren't relevant" or things like that.

It was a good way to pace before the Indigo Plateau arc, so I've no complaints. I liked how James used Jessie's need for histrionics to expose her. Moreover, I particularly liked the animation, like when Ash pointed at the screen (which 4Kids used well in the video version of "2 B.A. Master.")

As for the Scyther or the Hitmonlee, well, it can be incredibly difficult to discern unlabeled Pokemon, especially if it isn't a signature one. To me, it's speculation fodder, and you can't ignore it, per the montage. At least, Bulbapedia could have had a "up for potential speculation" tag, or something.

If it will console you, Sabrina did have both a Scizor and Hitmonlee in Stadium 2. Koga, I could buy him having a Scyther with its agility, and he's a ninja, sure.

I remembered that this episode made me wondered if it actual was possible to catch a non-wild Pokemon by throwing a Pokeball at it. Ash and co reacted in this episode like it was possible, but I believe it was somewhere halfway through Johto until it was said that it wasn't.
