I know this is off the topic but no one ever replies to the shinies forums. Say if you save right before you see Prof. Birch and you want to catch a shiny mudkip, can you keep on turning off game, then replaying over and over till you get one???

Yes that is the method to obtain one, unless you cheat to get it. Remember, it's purple I believe.
