Best mario game

which mario game do you prefer? my favourite is Super Mario 64 on Wii virtual console

Pretty hard to decide. Galaxy was amazing and fun, but in some ways lacked depth in some areas and its difficulty could have been a little higher. Yet even with the flaws it was really fun, and exploring the worlds and had some pretty cool powers. I'm going to have to give the reward to Galaxy, it is a very impressive and well made game.

64 was the first one, yes? So I'll go with that simply for the originality it'd still have retained back then, and such. Just in case I seem like someone putting a random stab into this poll (if you assumed this, you are effectively correct), I have actually played it, albeit once and a long time ago...

Lack of Super Paper Mario disappoints me :( That's my favorite since the plot was spectacular and it was unique...and in a good way. The gameplay was awesome and the general idea I really liked. I can't wait to see all the SPM hate :P

As far as what's on the list, Mario Kart series for sure. I am disappointed Nintendo about ruined battles though for the wii >.>

I've played most of the Mario games listed, but my vote goes to Super Mario Bros. 3. Probably one of the greatest NES games of all time, next to Legend of Zelda.

I knew there was something missing! i forgot to put paper mario!

i don't like the first 2 Paper Mario games because of the turn based battles. super paper mario is the best one by far

Super mario world, because of childhood memories and the fact i recently played through it again and it is still just as amazing, especially the secret levels (GO GROOVY!). Then its super mario 3, then 64, then all other 2d marios, then galaxy, then sunshine. Mario games that aren't mario saving the princess shouldnt really count because they arent really a "mario" game but a group party game type thing.

As far as the 3D games go...Super Mario 64 DS.

I haven't played every Mario RPG yet, so I can't comment.

If you count the Yoshi games as Mario games then Yoshi's Island beats them all.

Paper Mario

Personally, I like Paper Mario best.

Truer words have never been typed. xP I LOVE Paper Mario (the N64 one) and all incarnations of it as well. Super Paper Mario wasn't all that appealing tbh, but I loved TTYD as well.

Mario 2 and if it is the Six Golden Coins then that was my fave game. Nearly completed it to, that was until I lost the game whilse I was moving house at the time.

I'm another Paper Mario series fan. TheThousand Year Door was amazing, big and very entertaining, ans SPM is, right now, the best game I have ever played. The wonderful plot, all its funny dialogues and the amazing soundtrack makes it the first in my list. I hope we can see more of that series.

I personally enjoy Super mario Galaxy the most. Actually, it's a tie with that and the Mario Party and Mario Kart series.
