    Have you ever had braces? ^_^; I'm bored, so I feel like starting a poll. o_o;

    Anyway... to answer it... I used to have braces. X3 I got them off on May 15, 2003, though. Now I have to wear a retainer at nights. x_X But at least I don't have to wear it at school because it gets really annoying. x.x

    Braces sucked. XD

    I?ve had them since I was like 11. Finally got them off about a year ago, but I went through quite a lot. See, I have a baby tooth still, because there is not tooth to replace it under there. That had to be lined up for an implant. I also have a deformed tooth, both of these are upper teeth. That had to be prepared for a crown. I also had my jaw moved up with a herptz(sp?) device. The gunk they use to form the molds is the worst stuff ever. >.<

    I?ve had everything from rubber bands, beads etc done. My orthodontist gives us the best care since my mom wrote a nasty letter to him about how he screwed up so much in collaborating with my dentist. He?s the one supposed to do the crown and implant. He's expensive, but good.

    I still wear my retainers all the time, and it is annoying. Bleh. We can?t lose the spacing for me teeth until I?m 18 and those things can be done, then I?ll, like Erica, wear them at night for the rest of my life. On my bottom retainer, I?ve snapped off a piece of it from when I kinda chewed on it (._.;;;) but they just sanded it off.

    Yeah you didn?t except that big of a reply huh? Full history there. =P

    ok ladies... don't make them more scary than they are...

    Ever since I'm young my teeth are all screwed up such as missing baby tooths but got 6 extra adult teeth (so the baby booths evolved into the adult teeth probably). Since there's 6 extra which is an insane amount, my teeth are pretty much lining up vertically... my gums are naturally too weak to support braces when I was young. Just brushing my teeth is enough to make my mouth full of blood. The dentist says that if they force in the braces then i'll most likely die from loss of too much blood... ._.;;

    Well I took off 2 extra now... still have 4 left. I'm "scheduled" to be checked in June to see if we'll take off all 4 extras continously one after the other, then try to force the teeth a little less vertical first before the braces... then have braces for "x" amount of time... what pain to come...

    I had braces when I was 13, but I only had them for a year. Only my front teeth were crooked, the back ones lined up nearly perfectly. Then I wore retainers for awhile after that. I also had all my wisdom teeth removed this past summer :D

    Wow, retainers for the rest of your life? Eeeeeh.

    Yeah but I also get free replaces as long as they don?t go bankrupt or junk. It is only at night, though I can hardly see myself being like forty or fifty wearing them before bed. Almost feel like dentures by then. ._.;; At least I'll know how to clean dentures by then since it's the same for retainers.

    Full of blood?! That sucks.

    I didn't brush much at all when I was young, not until my dad had to take me to the Dentist when I was 7/8 and I had to get two teeth freezed. :laugh: My friend, who moved to New York eventually, had to get 9 freezed...

    But anyway, my dad obviously didn't like the bill, so... but ya, I didn't start brushing regularly till pretty late. Even though it strongly emphasized on me that I brush my teeth well, the good habit broke all too soon. :\

    I'm getting them tomorrow...and the day after I'm going to enrolment at my school...my friend told me it's painful everytime the dentist tighten the braces so I wonder if I'll even be able to speak at the enrolment...

    The Evil People (or dentists as some people call them) said I might have to get them but they're so stupid they don't know.

    HORN!

    Aw... that sucks, Aimy. ^_^; It is really painful when the braces are tightened, I won't lie to you. You don't really get used to it, either. =\ But you should be able to speak fine. It's just eating solids that hurts or accidentally biting down. XD

    I might as well tell you guys my... er... story or whatever. o_o; If I can even remember how it started. XD

    I was 11, I know that much. I got my braces on in the first week of December (I guess the year was 2000). Oddly enough, they didn't hurt when they went on. o_O; I needed braces because I had an impacted tooth... meaning I'd lost my baby tooth but the other tooth was kinda... stuck. Not only did they have to pull it down, but they had to ake a space for it where it was supposed to go since the other teeth had shifted slightly and closed the gap ._. So they cut open my gums and placed a little bracket with a chain on the impacted tooth and attached the chain to my normal braces. o.o; Every month when my braces were tightened, they'd also tighten the chain to pull the tooth closer. x_X It finally came down properly after about a year. o_o;

    Then I moved to Toronto and I got another orthodontist (who knew my old one). He decided to change my braces because he used a different style. (One that didn't use those coloured elastic bands... you know?) So he changed to those ones one day and they hurt. ;_; I got to stay home for a few days though since I'm such a wimp. =D Just before the summer of '02, my orthodontist decides to inflict elastics on me. o_o; After summer, he makes me change how I put the elastics in. Then they finally came off in May '03 and I have the mini-braces on the other side of my teeth (they made my tongue bleed since I would always scrap it across them ;_;') and I have to wear a retainer. =\ But it's better than braces. XD

    My braces are also tied into Pokemon in a way. XD When I first got the bracket on my impacted tooth, I rented Hey You Pikachu for the first time, even though I couldn't talk clearly because of the gauze I had in my mouth to stop the bleeding (*has sensitive gums ;_;*). When I got my braces replaced in May '02 after I moved, I watched Pokemon 3 about 6 times in one day out of boredom while eating ice cream. XD

    ._.

    Hey Lightning, how painful was it when they...they...CUT OPEN YOUR GUMS!? *shudder*

    hor..hor...horn...

    Well. I don't have braces. But a lot of my friends say they only hrt for the first 2 days. It was funny. In like 2 days. about 7 kids on my bus got braces in those 2 days. I'm like ahh. Thta was odd.I would get braces.. but my mom can afford them.. Whenever we go t the dentist they always say i need to see a othadontist. but my mom never goes to it because she doesn't want to pay the money for them......

    Gee thanks for the vote of confidence -_- I might as well try killing the dentist before he/she can try putting braces in my mouth.

    ^_^;;; It didn't hurt at all. I couldn't even feel it because they froze my mouth before they did it. The only pain was afterwards when the freezing wore off. It just ached for a while. =\

    *Grossed people out* Cool. XD

    I couldn?t eat for days one they put that herptz device on. Plus it had these little cylinders tha kept coming off, and it was agony getting them back on.

    It?s not that bad guys. ^_^; I don?t like lying? ._.;

    I'm happy I don't need them! My sister got them and she said it was painful.
    I'm glad I have my straight teeth hehe.

    braces?

    I've never had them, but judging by how poor my oral hygeine is, I might end up getting some heavy dental work done in the near future... >.<
    I'm really surprised that all my teeth are still in and haven't fallen out yet...I brush my teeth about once every other day XD I guess it is all the milk I drink and chewing on plastic that keeps my teeth healthy XD

    I had my braces put on when I was maybe 10 1/2 years old -- the summer before I went into 6th grade (I'm the youngest of my graduating class, okay? O_o). The orthodontist said I'd only have them on for about a year or a year and a half. I had to get five teeth pulled with horrible novacaines (you know, those needles with fluid in them that they inject into your gums in the area of the tooth they wanna pull...) before they put them on. Well, I ended up having them on for about three years and then got my retainer a few days after they came off. My bottom teeth moved a little thanks to my intelligence when I lost my bottom retainer...-__- And that's my story...lol.
