    Hello,
This is for Europe if you live in America try contacting your nearest Nintendo
this thread is to help you, if your Nintendo ds has a crack near the hinge of the ds or if the actual hinge comes off here are some pictures of the problem:

If this Happens to you get it repaired immediately before your ds warranty runs out or the actual hinge come off,

Nintendo Picked up this fault with the Ds, if you send it to them they will replace your Ds for free depending if you still have it under warranty, if it has expired the warranty do not cry about it you can send about £25.25 pounds with your ds they will replace your ds, you can choose a new colour and get a new warranty with it.Here are Nintendo's official site send in thing:

here is a letter i received from Nintendo (my warranty had expired)

Please send it to the Service Center at the address below and they will be able to sort it out for you.

Please make sure that your full name and address details are included in the package together with your cheque made payable to 'Codestorm re Nintendo' for £25.25. This price is fully inclusive of return p&p and VAT. We will replace the unit for a new one and issue a new warranty on it from the date of the replacement. I would recommend registered or recorded post to send it in.

Unfortunately our turnaround times at the moment are about ten working days and for this I apologies.

    Kind regards,

Thanks for the info. This'll be helpful for when or if my brothers DS Lite gets broken… since the warranty is probably expired xD. I own the original DS so I don't think I'll be needing it…maybe.
Wait didn't they send a free post sticker address thing…

Mine hasn't got to that stage yet... and I hope it never will. My hinge does seem a little loose, but my 1 year warranty's already over so I can't do too much about it now.

Plus, the postage fee to send mine back to Japan would probably be more than buying a brand new one. Even if it is a Navy Blue one which you can't buy here.

Hold up! I sent off my DS to Nintendo with an expired warranty and they repaired it free of charge and P&P within a week!

    That's nonsense!
