    =/ this is freaking me out...but, the apartment next to mine (its literally NEXT to mine as in the next room) got broken into, and the guys laptop and video cam got stolen, i'm not sure of the details, but this happened sunday night at 9:30pm =-=; and i was in my apartment. the fact that they just took off the guy's screen window and went in scares me. and saturday night, in MY apartment (i share it with 4 other people), one of my roommates bf's keys/wallet and my roomate's purse/wallet got stolen. then, the burglar made it off with her bf's car. -_-;;; and think of it this way:

    keys/wallet/car got stolen here (sat early morning 4am-ish)
    ===zapchu's room here====
    laptop/electronic devices stolen here (sun)

    geez, my room was in the MIDDLE of where the people stole stuff, doesn't that make u kinda wonder...who's next? me?? =-=;; *backs up all data on my laptop*

    Gee, the same crap happened to me. Actually, two neighbors next door got robbed >_<;; Poor dudes..

    *drowns*

    You might want to express your concern to whoever owns the apartments about security, and backing up your data and keeping that backup out of your apartment is very very important. I hope of course they don?t get to you. ;_;

    kairi...the apartment community is completely gated and you can't get in unless you have a card swipe thing, and to get into the aparments, you'll also need a card swipt, and each room needs a key and they have 24 hr security guards. i still don't understand how this all happened. =-=;; (the place i go to college, the community in general is pretty bad, we've got drug dealers, prostitutes, homeless people) i don't understand why they'd build a university here. *bleh* i hope u guys are in safe communities, and remember to never keep ur windows open and lock your doors!

    wow...2 houses down. o-o; my family's house (in a pretty good community too) got burglarized twice. -_-; they didn't touch my room though. but my parents room. and the rest of the house..a different story :confused:

    but it's a good idea to keep copies of keys/data elsewhere. ^_^; i shall do that. =-=; its also a good idea to keep a wood piece on your window so they can't open it. lock all doors/windows!!! :\ it might be stealing season...

    hmmm, you live in a dorm right? That's a bummer, if you didn't you could get a gaurd dog. I used to live in a bad neighborhood (actually it was a nice neighborhood, just a bad state alltogether) too, when I lived in Arizona, people had things stolen all the time. But not me, I had a chinese powderpuff dog with epilepsie to protect me!

    o-o; i'm going back to north cali this weekend, *takes my ps2 and valuables along with me* i'm quite fortunate i didn't get anything stolen...and the other fact was that i was sleeping the entire time.

    but you know, i guess it doesn't matter what kind of community u live in there are always burglars.

    >D i shall get a german shpard or a husky dog and sharpen their teeth. buwhahahha!! well my roomates...have a cat, a turtle, and a rat...not much protection there. *meow*

    *some departments don't work that way... if you got broke in, the apartment really won't do anything special besides sticking up a notice "be careful" (duh...). The police is the only people who'll get involved...

    The best way to do is so make sure all windows are shut tight (strangely, the older windows that Frosty has in his old apartment in HK has a lock of some kind... while the new windows are so easy to just cut open ._.; ). And even though it's hideous to lock the iron/metal gate (at least in his old apartment he has one), go lock it along with the door... that way it's safer.

    I'm afraid that's as much as you can do on your part... just have to trust the police forces to arrest the criminals quickly*

    Whoa, I'm glad that they didn't take anything from you, though. This guy that lived two houses down from us robbed us last year. He took about $1000 dollars worth of things from us, including my PS2 and other nice things. The police caught him with our stuff, but unfortunately we didn't get everything back. =\

    And you know the worst part.. we just moved into a new neighborhood, and a few weeks ago we found out that he's moved over to where we are now. O_O We can't get rid of him! But, so far he hasn't been out yet so hopefully he won't rob us again.

    i've never been robbed before but this girl in my study hall has. this weird kid was stalking her and stuff then he broke into her house. i don't think he took anything really. i think he was suspended too. it's so horrible thinking you could get robbed by someone in your own school.

    i dont lock my doors (^^;;) i dont know who i am

    Thankfully, my house/room have never been broken in to. A friend of mine's house got ransacked one night. The burglar wasn't too smart though, because they left something that my friend recognized and he immediately knew who ripped him off. I'll leave out the details, but we got everything back.

    Funny how the bad guys always get caught. The guy that robbed us kept denying that he did it, and a few weeks later he was caught with the stuff.

    After a fire at my granma's appartment, she put her stuff in a storeageroom. It got stolen from.
    Aww, that's sad. :\ My grandparent's house burned down last year, but they lost everything.

    Hey, I was robbed once, my laptop was safely hidden though
    and the guy that took my stuff stepped on a radar that broadcasts
    signals within 1 km, so I showed the police and got my
    stuff back and the guy. Anyway, when these things happen, I try not to lose my
    cool, and stay focused. Hope this helps.

    I think he means that a burglar left one of his belongings, and HightopNinja's friend found it and knew that it belonged to him. ^_^;
