I just joined and this is my first post, so I'm not sure this is the right location for this question. I also couldn't find an answer to my question through the search tool or the internet.

What I want to know is, can an evolved pokemon learn old moves?

My situation: I finally got my Budew to max happiness and get her to evolve to a Roselia. The thing is, she didn't evolve until level 32. Way past the listed level she would have learned giga drain and some other moves. Will my Roselia ever learn these moves?

Yes, in Pastoria City there's a Move Relearner that will teach it them if you trade him Heart Scales (which can be found in the Underground and other places too).

Also, you can trade items (I think?) with other Trainers.
You just have to have something that they want too, I believe.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong :p.

Yes they can but you need heart scales in order to do that. They can be found underground and the fastest way to get them would be through a cheating device but lots of people hate using it. There really isnt any legit way to get it quickly other than mining like crazy underground.

Bummer. So it would be easier to ditch my current Roselia (which evolved from my Budew at level 32) and just catch a Roselia that is under level 20?

That's what I'd do, but you should also keep the one you raised. You two have a close bond, and that comes in handy sometimes. I don't know, I'd keep yours and just find the TM Giga Drain, but that's just me!

A fast way to get stuff in the underground is simply diggin up a full bag of spheres,
then you burry them and wait a while.
In like 3 day that spot will be totally full (more then on edig in each tile of wall)
As long as you don't dig those spheres up you can repeat this every day :)

It actually depends on the pokemon.
Not all pokemon can learn old moves that they could've learned before evolving. An example of this would be Budew and Roselia. Budew can learn worry seed and water sport but once it evolves, it cannot learn it again as a Roselia even with the move relearner.

However most pokemon can learn old moves. By turning in Heart Scales to this guy in Pastoria City, you can relearn old moves. Heart Scales can be mined in the underground or stolen from wild Luvdisc (after you get the national dex).

My Budew evolved at like level 28 when I started Platinum. I just used Heart Scales I got from the underground to relearn moves. But yea I probably would've ditched my roselia if it evolved much later than that.

I just grabbed a new Roselia that is level 20. If it comes down to it later and I need worry seed and water sport, I'll still have my old one around.

I would personally just ditch your lvl 32 and get a lvl 19 roselia and lvl it from there and teach it Giga Drain via lvling. But if your like me i would just teach it Petal Dance and give it a Hp Raising move like Synthesis. =D
