I've been looking for ages to get the early seasons of PokeMon to watch and relieve my childhood! But I cant find any PAL version, only NTSC on Amazon. Will these still work in a PAL PS3? Or will they be released on other version soon?
    Thanks

The PS3 doesn't have a region lock so I'm assuming it should work.

It will not work. PAL and NTSC are incompatible transmission standards; unless the PS3 can convert PAL to NTSC then it will not work. You would need a NTSC DVD player connected to a NTSC TV.

PAL and NTSC are only incompatible when it comes to the color or chominance information in reference to over the air television but for the purposes of AV it would be incompatible. There are region free Super Wallet sets released in New Zealand and Australia which are PAL of course and should work in the Playstation 3 along with any other PAL DVD player.

Thanks for that! Anyone know where I can get these wallets??

Who prints the PokeMon DVDs? Especially for the ones in the UK :)

On the net but they're starting to get rarer as time goes on. You can find them on ebay floating around.

I would have suggested ezy DVD if it weren't for the fact they kind of sold out of the earlier seasons and it was them they gave the heads up on the discontinue before the other stores found out.

They claim to ship internationally in their shipping info.

However I'll mention them because they are first to put the preorders up for the march re-releases of seaosn 1 and 2 that you may or may not be interested in but I'll go into that later in this post.

Though let's back up a second. There's more to DVD's than PAL and NTSC. There's regions aswell. I notice your location says england. Can PS3 from there actually play region 4 DVD's?

If I remember correctly aren't you guys region 2 or something. We're both PAL but there's 2 different regions. My region 4 only DVD players say wrong region when playing a region 2 disc.

Of course that's easily fixed by just hacking the DVD player code in to change the region to multi region. Consoles aren't so easy to change the region however.

I wouldn't know much about the PS3 however. I don't own one. Though if your unsure I really suggest researching before importing. Though if your confident then go ahead and import. I don't know much about the PS3's capabilites with DVD's anyway.

As for the super wallets if you do decide to get them. As said they are becoming rare. This is because all the wallets were discontinued. At the moment Beyond (the company that took over magna pacific which was renamed to magna home entertainment) seems to be only supporting season 10 and 11 collection boxsets and the season 6 and 8 volumes (which costs alot of money buying all the volumes). Of course there's the latest movies aswell they're supporting.

My advise is if you can't find the super wallets online then wait till march. Beyond (magna home entertainment) are re-releasing seasons 1 and 2 sets in that month this year as I mentioned earlier. So it's not all bad. It just means you probably won't get all the special stuff of the super wallets. It is looking like the Chronicles have been dropped for the re-release unfortunately.

Though you'll still get season 1 and 2 this way providing you can play the Australian DVD's.

Anyway in the end you may be lucky to find the super wallets. They are still floating around in a few areas. Though I can assure you they have just about dissappeared in the stores near me and I live in Australia.

You might want to look at your country's legal requirements. Australia BANNED region encoding on DVDs meaning that stores selling them is illegal now and its illegal to master region locked DVDs if they are targeted to Australia. I am not sure if the Super Wallet sets were made before the region locking ban went into effect or not but its worth a try anyway.

Are you sure your not thinking DVD players here. DVD players use to be region locked to region 4 here. They'd even have the region 4 logo labeled and you couldn't play regions from any other region as a result. Hence why I hacked the DVD players. Well use to anyway.

These days you can walk into a store and buy a multiregion over the counter. This happened when the ones fighting for the removal of the region coding in DVD players won practically.

A store has to give you a region free DVD player if you ask for one. No ifs or buts.
Practically a DVD player that plays DVD's from all over the world.

However what your saying about the region coding banned for DVD's just doesn't quite add up for me. I work in a shopping centre and browze the DVD sections quite often during my breaks since I like going from store to store to see what's out. The movie "Up" which was released only a week ago on DVD is still region 4 along with all the latest Pokemon seasons. The second half of season 11 was released just in time for last Christmas and it was region 4.
If what you say is true well all the companies are breaking it.

I can't help feel that's it's DVD players. My mum bought a DVD player and it was region free out of the box. We didn't need to hack it. It was not region locked.

Until I see a region free DVD here it's kind of hard to say yes all our DVD's are region free because it'd be lying if I said that.=(

However region free DVD players are pretty easy to come by here these days.
